The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

Not to mention the thematic resonance that would add, given that this is the conclusion of the entire Skywalker Saga. As the Saga ends, so too does the Skywalker lightsaber.

Agreed. One thing I hate most about this movie is it does very little to try and end things. Take some risks! Kill some characters! Do something! Breaking the two Skywalker lightsabers takes a risk.

If it could somehow be shown that Luke and Leia’s sabers are broken after the Palpatine fight, that would make burying them and her making her own make much more sense. Maybe in the shots of Rey holding and dropping the lightsabers on the ground some sparks could be added coming out of the sabers, like Palpatine’s lightening fried them or something like that? Or even some smoke? Something to hint that they are broken.

It would be harder to do but maybe have them still ignited when she holds them and they both sizzle out on the ground?

Yes, that’s a great idea! Not only did that line make Luke look like a hypocrite for not even reading his most sacred texts, but it blatantly contradicts the next movie. It needs to go.

That always bothered me ever since I saw the film. If Luke cares so much about the texts and Jedi and even tries to run into a burning tree to save them. Why would he not have read them?! It just makes Luke seem childish and foolish for the sake of making a joke work. Now if the joke were between Luke and Rey or even Rey and Yoda it would work. Overconfident new Jedi Rey defending texts she’s never read vs. Jedi Master Luke not even bothering to read texts he spent 30 years tracking down. It NEEDS to go.

One thing that has ALWAYS bugged me about TLJ was Poe not knowing who Holdo is. We all know she should have been in TFA, but it’s like a solider not knowing who the Vice President is. Cut Poe not knowing who she is.

I second the “time remaining” removal.

Would it be possible to have Luke not ignite his green lightsaber on Kylo? I have seen some impressive edits of this on YouTube where the green glow is removed from Kylo and his eyes. Kylo wakes up, sees Luke hovering with his lightsaber out and looking distraught, and then Ben “turns on him” and Luke defends. I think this will help greatly to “re-characterize” Luke in the film and make Ben’s decision more his own. The whole “pulling a weapon on my unarmed nephew” is still something a lot of fans struggle with.

Since Snoke=Palpatine, is it possible to remove his mention of bridging their minds? If Palpatine was controlling Snoke then why would their connection be a surprise?! Removing Snoke inconsistences is key to making a more cohesive trilogy

I would still love to see the “slow-mo” shots removed from Kylo vs Luke like in Hal’s most recent TLJ update.

Maybe more could be added to Palpatine’s radio contact so it is a little clearer what is happening. I watched the most recent version with a TLJ first timer and they were confused. “My boy, Snoke was just the beginning, find me.”

JEDIT:
THE SACRED JEDI TEXTS!!! I think the lines between Yoda/Luke, “ahh, read them have you? Page turners they were not!” Needs to go. It makes Luke seem like he didn’t even read/study the books, but then in TROS we find out Luke did study them and annotated them. I suggest, “Luke: The Sacred Jedi Texts! Yoda: Yes, yes. Wisdom they held…”
