Once this edit is done we should all just make a wild edit called “The Rise of Palpatine” and make changes like that. We conclude with Poppa’s wild Falcon ride at the end and we use text to speech on only THAT moment with Rey and Palpatine 😂😂😂

They play off each other quite well. Hope you don’t mind my abridged version.
I think @sade1212’s take is paced out well and “I’m a Jedi” didn’t sound too quick at all. Did you see his mockup? What’s the consensus on the “I"M ALL THE SITH!” line? Personally, I think it works better with it.
The problem with leaving in “I am all the Sith!” is that Rey’s new “I’m a Jedi!” response has to specifically be to Sheevie’s “a SCAVENGER GIRL is no match for the power in me!” statement, right? (edit: just as the poster above said!) Perhaps swapping Palpatine’s lines would work. Here’s a crude mockup of that idea (forgive the unpolished audio and lack of ghosts).
This is perfection and would be a mistake not to include.
Don’t forget: “I will earn your brother’s saber.”
Rey does not think she is worthy of taking on the mantle. The change would show she is now accepting of her Jedi role, it’s a callback to TLJ, and I feel it helps sell “Rey Skywalker” a little more.

Blended out Palp’s Theme (I hope) a little bit better, cleaned up the word “a”, added a clip of Rey panting to cover up the omission of “and,” and also trimmed down the dramatic pause before she finishes her line (to help fudge the lip sync). Any better? The video cut on Rey’s line could be a little tighter and overlap the line on her catching the second saber more; I’m just worried about carving too deeply into the closeup shot.
I’m loving this change, but I feel the jump is still too noticeable around the 0:11 mark. Rey’s line change sounds flawless.

I couldn’t find it so I did it myself real quick (maybe I did this on my own originally…)
“And” being cut might be noticeable to some who are aware of the change, but I honestly believe your hypothetical first time viewer, or people who just haven’t seen the movie since release, wouldn’t even notice this change. I moved “Me” up a few frames earlier, and I think the slight shift helps sell it as well.
I like how Finn assumes it’s Ren with such conviction, only to be left not knowing what to say after Rey says it was her. I think this is the simplest way to handle it.

I would use Adywan’s twin suns from Star Wars Revisited or “the sun” that Starkiller Base drains as reference points. The Star Wars galaxy is different than ours so I think making it look consistent to what is already there should be the focus.
I played with @Dat_SW_Guy’s shot and flipped it around just so we’d have a visual how it could look, but replace the moons with the suns:
I think @Cinefy has a better approach though, but the Tatooine matte could be a little clearer.
I agree it looks and sounds great. I wonder why Hal doesn’t want to make that change?
It was supposed to jump into hyperspace at the final frames, but the animation looked extremely weird and I couldn’t get that hyperjump trail that poppasketti did.
Put together a little concept for you’re Falcon ending idea.
I think it’d look really good if it flew over briefly instead of instantly jumping to light speed would be such a great ending calling directly back to the first ever Star Wars scene

So excited to have those last few beats of the TFA credits song before the TROS credits kick in. Praying this comes to fruition, it would be such a bittersweet ending and not just another “copy” and “paste” of the last trilogy’s ending!
Eh, it works just fine but I think it’s good to let there be a moment like that with only diegetic changing and no score.
And while I’m open to extending the final shot(s), I’m still skeptical…
It’s an idea Hal’s open to. Until he says “NO” I think it’s fair game for discussion.
Anything to make it breathe a little. I think not ending on the suns would show we are ending somewhere different. We’re done with Tatooine and moving on. Maybe just have a blank starfield without Tatooine or the final circle in?

I threw this together in about 30 min. VERY rough take for an extended ending but I just like the ending notes of the song from TFA way too much and I think it offers such a better transition from the end of Rey’s theme. Hopefully you like it Hal and someone with more tech than me and make it look official!

So if the end of the film is extended so the musical cue can finish more naturally, what if we see the Falcon go to Hyperspace above Tatooine, and the backdrop for that new effect is the same shot of Tatooine from the very beginning of A New Hope and we circle out from there for the end credits?
Edit: Plus it would help that the Falcon does not jump to Hyperspace while still in Tatooine’s atmosphere.
Edit 2: We already have the proper clip from @Poppa so only one new shot would need to be made with Falcon effects.
I think ending the trilogy and saga on something other than a Tatooine sunset/sunrise is a win.

Ngl I definitely do miss having that Palpatine line because of everything it alludes to. Influence the midichlorians to create life (Force-sensitive clones), cheating death (essence transfer).
The problem is that I also like Kylo knowing that it’s a bad idea to kill Palpatine. That threat of the power he has to possess him should be what stops Kylo from killing him.
Could the lines be swapped?
To Kylo: “I have died before. Kill me and my spirit will pass into you, as all the Sith live in me.”
To Rey: “You want to kill me, that is what I want. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. You will be Empress. We will be one.”

Glad you agree! Are you able to provide us with a version of the new take but with the layers for the other ghosts turned off, and Rey with the purple saber? The updates to the existing four are great.
