Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)
Time
You seem to know what youre talking about so I won't be too mean ;-) :-p

...but the Musical Journey is mixed from the original masters. Try comparing anything from Empire to how its heard on the Musical Journey.

It's all been freshly mixed for the effort. I mean, especially check out The Asteroid Field... no mix has ever presented it that way...
I know this becuase thats how I got cleaner mixes of a few tracks for my complete edit... INCLUDING the Imperial March. just remove the talking and echo and it was really nice... ESPCAILLY compared the tragedy that is the SE

I had made an imperial march, but I decided if I wanted to do that again, I would just re-rip it from the 5.1 of the extra disc in the Episode III set... the musical journey.

And it's not just a stereo effect. AC3 also adds a dampening and a slight amount of clarity to the sound... it removes unneccesary sound while focusing on what is audible

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

I think it would be nice to have some continuity between the two. It looks like two completely different times of day or weather patterns...

The first is all bright and sunny (the one I prefer) while the second is all dark and just kinda bluish white... not a lot of detail (the one with chewie that I don't prefer).

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

I made a list of things I saw when I watched the film today:

Things that annoy me about Empire:

1)Music Quality – This can definitely be improved upon.
2)The syncing between 'MAIN TITLE' and 'PRODE DROID ALT' is not correctly synced. I've never liked how it was synced in the film and think it should be returned to the original syncing.
3)The Taun Taun's eyes. I know you mentioned that you coudln't do much for blinking, but maybe you could do something with the pupils... making it look around?
4)The bottom of the puppeteers arm being visible as the Wampa strangles the Taun Taun
5)The horrible tracked fanfare as Han enters Echo Base
6)Possibly consider reinstating the cues for the entire opening sequence.
7)Fix the abrupt cut off of music as 3P0 walks up to Han to say no one can find Luke
8)Reformating the Ice Lair sequence to be closer to the original.
9) Changing the Wampa noise!!!
10)The lighstaber deactivation noise latter than heard OR change the lightsaber to deactivate when the sound is heard.
11) Replace looped music
12) The entrance to the base could have a bit more action going on than a bluish screen seen in the film (like when the doors are closing)
13) I know you're getting rid of the blue tint, but I would say at least to make sure that the fact its getting dark out is clearly visible.
14) The Unused “PROBE DROID RECONAISENCE” cue might be reinserted.
15) If you plan to extend the first shot of the Imperial Fleet further, use the album version of “Imperial March” as that is whats used in the film
16) It may just be me, but I swear that the image jitters a lot
17) Scenery change between Probe Droid alone and Probe Droid with Chewie.
18) Show the rebel turrets firing more
19) Resync the music for the destruction of the power generator
20) The Dagoba scene deleted from Episode III showed a lot more interesting creatures. Perhaps some of those could be incorporated?
21)Perhaps a reordering of the shots of Han and Leia talking... and Chewie looking for 3P0... maybe you could use the new shot to establish that you're back at bespin... cut to Chewie in the incinerator with the fighting. Then cut to the old establishing shot... show Leia talking to Han and then be interrupted by the door opening right after Leia says she doesn't trust Lando.
22) I agree that the ceiling to Leia's room should be returned to what it was along with some of the windows
23)The abrupt music cut off when Han is encased in carbonite... possibly to help the mix in of the alternate used moments latter?
24) Maybe get rid of the flub showing the lightsaber hand off after luke fights vader off of the carbon freeze area... (you see luke dissapear partially, and the end of the lightsaber he hands to the stunt coordinator pops out a bit in the center of the screen)
25)As Vader and Luke fight on the gantry, you can see the outline of where the actual filmed element is and the matte painting begins., especially during flares of light from lightsaver cuts
26) It might be cool to have the falcon pull a whisp of cloud away as it circles back to get luke
27)Possibly replacing the finale music with what was written?

I need to get Adobe Audition... it sounds like a great program.

That's what you use to rip the channels from the AC3?

I'm tempted to simply turn on my 5.1 and test it that way, but that, I don't think, will be as accurate as using my headphones...

I mean, the whole reason the SE set is fucked up is because they used speakers and had about half a day to remaster half the score... oye

And yes, I'm playing around with something right now... I'll post it in a moment.

I was curious... what are your all thoughts on AC3?

I have been toying around with it... and the file size is about the same as MP3... but the quality is the same as wav... if not better because it actually adds a slight filter to remove unneccesary noise, while focusing on what the human ear can perceive...

What's everyone thoughts on me releasing some of this stuff as 5.1 AC3?

On a separate note, I wanted to mention I've been toying with mixing and exporting my score edit as AC3 files... and I have to say... I almost want to start releasing my score edits as AC3 instead of MP3 or FLAC because I've never heard the score sound so good...

To me at least, there is an audible difference. The added clarity I made sure to incorporate definately cleans up the sound, and hiss almost gets reduced as well... and the surround sound just makes the recording sound amazing...

I dunno, but if You'd like me to send you the score as AC3 Adywan, it may eleviate any need to mix it yourself and you could almost literally place it in the film.

Perhaps a separate thread is in order to answer these questions and for issues... There is a massive amount of talk in this thread and for someone like me, it was a bit of a problem trying to figure out what to do.

I downloaded the movie a looong time ago when it first came out. I dunno what happened, but suddenly the sound stopped working. I deleted it and then I got a new computer.

I have just now redownloaded the movie and am currently unpacking it. I know there is another file in there with "corrected" files in it but I wasn't aware of that so I'm going to test it out and see if it works for me.

But again, perhaps a separate thread is in order...
