Enterprise Finale
Time
I went back and watched the Next Gen episode "The Pegasus" and the two episodes do not connect very well. At the end of the Enterprise episode, Riker says that he has made is decision and is ready to speak to Captain Picard. However, in the Next Gen episode, he doesn't tell Picard until they are trapped in the middle of an asteroid. I really shouldn't be suprised since they have already destroyed some of the Classic series episodes revolving around Vulcans not lying and no women in command, they might as well take a shot at a Next Gen episode as well.

I am boycotting EpIII.
Time
I have vowed never to pay money for anything Lucas puts out until he puts the original movies on DVD. I refuse to pay for another movie and sneak in or anything like that. However, I do have a movie card that gives me free passes with every 10 or 20 viewings(I go to the movies a lot) and I have been saving a free pass for Episode 3. They don't allow free passes for the first two or three weeks, so I'll be waiting a few weeks to see it.

Enterprise Finale
Time
I thought that Enterprise was a pretty good show and I wish it could stick around to continue to improve. Enterprise was better than Voyager, but still way behind the other three.
I thought the finale was fine, but I wish they had let us hear the speech by Archer. This is a landmark occasion for the Federation and I thought it would be interesting to see. They should have added Avery Brooks' voice and Kate Mulgrew's voice to end. Also, I wish they had come up with a new scenario for Riker(he got his own ship in the last movie, why can't we see that?) rather than just rehash an old Next Generation episode.

Back to the Future & Time Travel
Time
The reason for the time train at the end of BTTF3 is because the writers had basically written themselves into a corner. Marty helps save Doc from Buford Tannen, but Doc is still in the past(possibly in jail for stealing the train) and will still die in the past. If they didn't have Doc return, people would walk out of the theater angry because they just saw a pointless, depressing movie. This being a comedy, you want to end on a happy note. Now, the audience gets a resolution to the story and the friendship. Doc is still alive and involved in other adventures. People leave the theater with a warm feeling on a high note.

A question in regards to Samuel L. Jackson
Time
Samuel L. Jackson has been one of my favorite actors ever since he was Senor Love Daddy in Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing. However, I like to hear him talk about his role in Star Wars more than watching him in Star Wars. His character is poorly written and does almost nothing. The only reason he is there seems to be so Yoda could tell Windu, and thus the audience, what he is thinking. But, if you get the chance to listen to an interview with Jackson on the subject of Star Wars, he is great. His discussion of how they shot the battle in Attack of the Clones is a lot more fun than the movie.

Anakin's fall - did it really need three films or could it have been done in one?
Time
Actually, I think it was handled so brilliantly in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi that I don't really see the need for even one film. However, they could have definitely just done it in two films. It would have been a bit much to introduce a character and have him fall to the darkside in just one film.

How Many Times Have You Seen The Original Trilogy?
Time
I would say I've seen each of the original trilogy a couple of hundred times. We got the tapes when they were first released on video. I watched at least a part of them each day for a long time as a child. I didn't watch them as much around junior high and high school. After a while, the tape broke. The only version available at the store was the Special Editions, so I bought those. I hated the Special Editions, so I basically stopped watching them. Thankfully, through the internet, I was able to buy the originals. I limit myself to watching them once a month.
So I would have to approximate-New Hope-300 times/Empire Strikes Back-250/Return of the Jedi-200
For Phantom Menace, I saw it twice in theaters and have the DVD. I watch it every few months. Probably seen it 15-20 times.
I've seen Attack of the Clones twice-once in the theater and rented it once on video. That is all I could stand of it.
I've made a pledge to never again pay money for anything George Lucas puts out until he puts the original movies, not the Special Editions crap, on DVD. I will see Revenge of the Sith in theaters, but I'm going to wait a few weeks until the theater allows me to use a free pass.

Girl Problem
Time
Davis, there are two pieces of information in one of your last posts which are very important.
1. She already has a boyfriend
2. You go to the same church
You shouldn't ask a girl out who already has a boyfriend. It makes the guy pissed off and he might want to hurt you. The girl will get upset and might not even want to be friends. You need to learn some patience and wait until they break up(which they eventually will, especially if he really is a jerk). You can afford to wait since you go to the same church because it is not like you will never see her again. Whenever she comes home from school, you can be there asking questions about her. People love talking about themselves. That way, she'll see you in a positive light. You can be friends for a short time and then, after they break up and time passes, you can make your move.

Girl Problem
Time
Davis, I won't say I'm older and wiser, but I will say I'm older and have been there. You have two things going for you: 1. She knows your name. She has taken the time to get to know something about you. Unless she has a photographic memory or you are a celebrity, this took a little effort on her part. 2. You have already had a conversation with her, so it would not be totally out of the blue. You should ask her out. If she rejects you, you feel bad for a little bit, but she goes away to college and you don't have to see her anymore. Even if she tells the school what a geek you are, the embarrasment will go away in a few days. Regret can stay with you for a lifetime. Imagine 10-15 years down the line. You are still single and wondering what could have been or you are married and maybe the marriage doesn't have the same fire it once did and you are still wondering about this girl you knew in high school. Regret is a powerful thing.
Also, someone mentioned about when she goes off to college. Yes, that may present a problem, but she could go and see all the guys at college are jerks compared to you. If you ask her out, you can get her phone number and you can find out where she will be staying at college. You can call her or send her a letter every few weeks just to let her know you are thinking of her and that makes her think of you and what a nice and thoughtful guy you are. Some long distance relationships work. Her being two years older may seem like a big deal in high school and college, but it is not a big deal in the real world.

The Pope
Time
I just wanted to add a few things to the discussion. If you are debating homosexuality and abortion in the context of religion, it is different than if you are debating domestic policy. The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin(1 Corinthians 6:9). That does not mean that it should be outlawed or people should stone homosexuals. It does mean that homosexuals should not be clergy, or even members of the church. Christians are still called to love them, but there is a difference between loving a person and accepting that person's sin.
As for abortion, it is not discussed in the Bible because they never thought of it as an issue then. However, the Bible does try to indicate where life begins. In Psalm 51:5, David states, "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother concieved me." and in Luke 1, Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visits her cousin Elizabeth, pregnant with John, and John leaps for joy in Elizabeth's stomach. You have to be alive in order to sin or be joyful.

Wait- I know what Lucas needs!
Time
I think this would have been a good idea, but it is coming a little too late. You should have thought of it before Attack of the Clones and before the DVDs. He might have been able to write some good dialogue between Anakin and Padme and made them seem like young adults in love and less like morons in heat. Also, he may have been open to putting the original movies out on DVD, but now he has dug himself in for a fight with all his comments during the release of the DVD that I don't see him putting the originals out. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but I do agree- He needs a woman.

Sin City
Time
I put City of God on my top ten films of all time. Sin City is not quite there, but it is better than anything I've seen in the past two years. Only Eternal Sunshine had come close. When everyone else is triumphing the latest intelletual picture, big epic, or biopic as the best of the year, I'll be reminding everyone about this visual masterpiece.

I was serious about thinking that Elijah Wood looks like Tobey Maguire in the movie. He looks like him, has the Peter Parker glasses(although I would guess that is from the Sin City comic as well), and seems to be imitating Maguire's goofy trademark smile. Am I the only one that thinks this?

Sin City
Time
Saw Sin City yesterday and think it is the best movie I'v seen since City of God. It will be hard to take other comic book movies seriously after it. I have a question for those who have seen it. Do you think that they were attempting to make Elijah Wood look like Tobey Maguire? Are they trying to make a point about the Spiderman movies?

Ossie Davis, 1917-2005
Time
He was a great dramatic actor and a good comedic actor, especially in Bubba-Ho-Tep. I think his best role was as DaMayor in Do the Right Thing. He played a drunk without ever acting like a drunk and was the conscience of the movie. He was one of those great character actors that gave me hope for a movie whenever he was in the movie. I know at the Oscars, they always show the people who died and the favorites always get the most applause. Brando will obviously get the most applause, but Davis deserves just as much applause.

I'm not suprised by the nominations, except for Giamatti. He was the best thing about Sideways.
Aviator is a great movie directed by the greatest living director.
Sideways and Million Dollar Baby are both good character studies that stumble in their third acts.
Ray was a good, if not great bio. Jaime Foxx was superb in it.
Finding Neverland was a boring retread of Shakespeare in Love except with no nudity and a cancer subplot.
They did a good job with Best Actor(except Giamatti deserves to be there over pretty boy Depp), Actress, and Supporting Actress(except for Portman who reminded me of a department store mannequin in Closer. She was better in Garden State.)
Also, a few of my favorites(Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Before Sunset, Incredibles, and Hotel Rwanda) got nominations for writing.

Firefly
Time
I thought this was a great show. There have been a number of TV shows that I've loved that have had a very limited run. The DVD will be among my next big purchases. The good news is that Firefly is coming back as a feature film. I know Joss Wedon wrote it and I think he is directing it as well.
