The original Star Wars arcade game in all its line-art beauty.

It could be argued that it's a killing spree. He's killing all of our childhood memories. He's killing our hopes and dreams of owning the OT on DVD in its real version. He's killing our respect for him. Not like we're dead or anything, but it's a type of "killing", per se.

Sorry I guess I was a bit wild. I just am so sick of prequal complaints. It is ruining the Star Wars fanbase. It used to be cool to be a Star Wars fan. Prequal bashing has ruined Star Wars. It needs to end. So called Star Wars fans need to start being Star Wars fans.

I disagree on that one, Samatar.
I believe that many people who are going to buy the sets don't even recall the original theatrical cuts.
Sad, but true.

Boba Fett was new??
I'm not sure, but I don't think that is right. I'll have to do a little checking.
What I do know now, is this:
There was a Boba Fett action figure released pre-ESB.
My assumption was that:
It was initially made because he "appeared" in A New Hope. The release of the action figure was delayed then because the footage was cut.
Then, presumably when ESB was announced, they started to release the figure, with a little addition to the packaging, saying he was a "new character in Empire Strikes Back".

I've never heard the original audio of that scene. What does that man say to Han Solo? The same things Jabba did?

I agree that Portman is a great actor, but her talent may be hindered a bit in the star wars movies because of all the blue screen sets she has to work on. Hayden Christenen is another story. I mean Anakins borderline creepy in AOTC.

Personally I think CGI generally belongs in computer games, not movies; but if it is done right, it can work. I think the difference between AOTC and LOTR is that LOTR used cgi when it was necessary (to complement the story); AOTC used it whenever possible (to -be- the story).

Welcome GS! Thanks for sharing that with us.
I just purchased "Alien" on DVD; now it has both the directors cut and the original version on one single DVD. I presume it just plays the same versions, adding or subtracting certain scenes as required. Why can't Lucasfilm do this? Surely they have the knowhow? I also liked the introduction to the Directors cut, in which Ridley Scott very humbly said that he hoped we agreed with the changes he'd made in that version. Just imagine Lucas doing something like that...
As for me, I have decided just to stick with my VCR tapes for now. If the opportunity comes along, I will get a bootleg version, perhaps from someone who has posted in the forums here, but I'm not too fussed.
Adding and subtracting scenes in Alien was easy because there is only about 5 minutes difference. With Star Wars putting both versions on one disc would have a total of over 3 hours of movie. Thats just with the 1997 Special Edition since the DVDs will include addition changes it would be even longer. That would result at a slightly reduced bit rate.
