All well said, Bossk. Not much I can add here. Chris Columbus did make the Quidditch matches look fairly fake, didn't he? Probably one of the reasons I didn't pick up the books any sooner than I did. The movies put me off, and yet they also made me realize that the series was worth looking into after all. Strange contridiction.

Maybe you're right. There's nothing like breaking brick walls with your head, collecting coins and magical mushrooms, and enjoying the psychedelic adventures of an italian/american man called Mario.

Haha! It's the greatest story ever told, isn't it, Ric? I wonder what makes those mushrooms magical...

No idea. But I do remember a certain Zelda title for the Gameboy (the original Gameboy, mind you, not the color or advance versions) that gave me a bit of fun. I didn't really focus too much on the storyline itself (I never beat it, you see), but I got hours of laughs going into the stores stealing weaponry from the sales clerk. Sure, he zapped me everytime I returned to the store, and I was called 'Thief' for the rest of the game, but it was worth it.

No need to apologize, Ric. I took no offense to it. And unfortunately, I wouldn't understand any references you made to Brazillian politics, and since politics are different elsewhere, I can understand. And I wasn't saying you weren't right--there is an 'ultra-conservative, war-loving right.' We're just not all that way.

I heard about that guy...what a nutbag. As for the homosexuality thing, I don't hate gays, but I do disagree with their lifestyle choice. Some would think that's pretty much the same thing, but I find them two separate stances (though some use the disagreement with lifestyle as a stepping board to hatred).

Now, Ric...I think you're making a broad generality about hating the Republican Party in general. I'll admit, I'm a registered Republican, but I can say that I hate the way the Republican Party has become. I'm fed up with it, but I feel that running away from it and denying my association with it just because of somebody like George W. Bush isn't worth it. I'm a moderate Republican; I lean conservative on some things, liberal on others. Sometimes, I stay towards the center. I frown upon ultra-conservative Republicans just as much as I do ultra-liberal Democrats. I've been frustrated during my first year of college life, because everyone views it hip to be one or the other, and I hate that. I am against the war, incidentally, and have been longer than John Kerry has . And, as you can tell by my signature, I'm a Nader supporter.

Sorry for the political rant, though I don't feel it was really radical or anything. I just wanted to make you realize that not everyone in the Republican Party thinks alike (though you probably already knew that).

I might as well contribute something (er, someone) I dislike while I'm here, and this ties into the whole 'Republicans have been given a bad name' spiel: Pat Robertson. I'm a Christian, and I can't stand the guy. He's such a hypocrite, and has way too much political sway for a religious leader.

Star Wars...The TV series!!
Time
I'm personally open to a Boba Fett series, but I doubt that they'll be able to execute it properly and sustain it for more than a few episodes. It just doesn't seem too feasible. If someone tried making it for television, it would be something really corny and melodramatic, like a WB series. That seems to be all TV executives are able to do these days (that and forensic shows).

Info: OT Bootleg DVDs
Time
I will admit, the artwork and case are really nice, but something tells me these aren't DVDs--I mean, why would they need to use two discs for each movie. That's VCD, or SVCD, most likely. Don't go for it. If you're wanting menus and commentary and such, go with the anamorphic set; it's really well done. Can't comment on the TR47 set, as I don't have it, but others have highly recommended it.

Star Wars Pan Scan

This is not a suprise at all, really, but I just finished watching all three of the movies on the anamorphic DVDs, and I don't think I can ever watch Star Wars in fullscreen ever again. For years, I've had no choice, but the experience is so much richer in widescreen, obviously. I can already hear my pan and scan VHS tapes moaning sadly on the shelf.

Even so, I'm with Bossk on this one. It's not a terrible explanation; in fact, it's a really good explanation. But the mystery of it was all part of the fun. Though, maybe it's good to point out that in TPM, the Jedi Council doesn't use Anakin's midichlorian count to sway their decision to train Anakin or not. As long as we didn't have to hear Yoda say, 'Train him we shall. Many midichlorians has he. Trained he must be.' I have no problem with it.
