Thanks for your confidence, guys. I am encountering quite a few road blocks with the software I'm currently using, and really wish I knew of a good (and free) DVD artwork creator, because I have everything mapped out for the first insert, but need to get to come together on the computer. Does anyone know what software everyone used to create the cover art? It might turn the tables and allow me to have the Empire Strikes Back design up by the end of the weekend.

Well, I've finalized the scene index for Empire Strikes Back (just watched A New Hope the other day, so I decided to save it for last). I have some Word templates for DVD booklet design, but I'm still finding a free way to edit a picture for the front of the booklet (this is what happens when a person with mediocre design skills and limited design resources takes on the world of designing all by himself ).

I'll try to have a booklet for Empire Strikes back soon, though.

So I'm just happy that at last it's coming out on DVD.
I didn't mind the SE too much. I always wished I could change the films to make them look better. "Change this, clean that up, rub out the lightsaber shadow".
You see, now he's doing all these things, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing the clean, crisp, super-sounding Star Wars at home on my big TV and pukka DVD, while smoking a big fat joint!

I too would hope one day Lucas will release the films I first saw as a kid. I believe he will.
In 2007 - The super editions or whatever. All versions in one big size box set! - You wait and see.

He ain't releasing them. Not ever. It just ain't gonna happen.

How can you expect us to respect your opinion if you won't allow us some hope Jimbo? Quit bashing us in the face with comments like that. You sound like you delight in it too much.

He does have the right to do so. I've never liked it when people change the First Amendment to say 'Freedom of Expression,' but everything I've heard about Michael Moore indicates that he doesn't cross over that fine line between 'Freedom of Speech' and 'Freedom of Expression,' so though I don't agree with him on too often, I support his right to say what he will, even if the Academy Awards speech was on the tasteless side.

Right. I'm not overly picky about my graphics, and I felt the graphics were actually pretty decent on the first KOTOR in the first place. So all I ask for is the ability to play the game.

Oh, Michael Moore definitely does have a liberal agenda, and it's sickening at what lengths he takes it, yet I can't believe his ideas are all bad. I know a number of conservatives (in addition to liberals) who are also guilty of telling lies to support their agendas, so he's not the only liar out there, by far. I'm ticked off at the lies perpetrated on both sides right now.

Does anyone know how to access the easter eggs on the anamorphic set?

From the menu go down to Audio Options. With that highlighted push the left button. A silhouette of Vader will appear. Press enter.

The easter eggs suck, IMHO.

Obi-Wan...you weren't kidding. Those are the WORST easter eggs I've ever seen. I couldn't even bring myself to look at the ROTJ easter egg--they were that bad.

For anyone who's interested, I'm going to be starting work on the chapter inserts this weekend. I'll start by sitting down with the movies with the chapter display on and a pad of paper for writing down what seems to be a good title. Then, once I've done that, I may attempt the design element myself, unless is interested in helping. Right now, I'm planning on a format that will print off on one side of a page but will fold over to have a front-and-back design. If anyone has any ideas, I'm definitely open to them; just PM me or let me know in the forums themselves. We're really seeing a lot of really nice cover designs, and I feel that chapter inserts would enhance the overall appearance of our Star Wars Trilogy sets. Also, for the bonus disc, I was thinking of having a sort of menu map instead of a chapter listing (for obvious reasons). The menus aren't really complex, but it would be interesting to have.

My anamorphic set actually has inserts but I don't like them very much. One problem is that each disc has over 70 chapter stops. That's a lot of information to fit on there. I like the idea of a multi-fold booklet type insert similar to those with the LOTR DVDs.

The multi-fold booklet is a really great idea, Obi-Wan! I don't know why I hadn't thought of it, since I just watched one of my LOTR DVDs the other day. After reading your suggestion, I have pretty much decided that trying to cram all 70-some chapter titles on one side of a two-sided insert (even if they were to be distributed in two columns), really wouldn't be the best choice. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to make a multi-fold booklet like LOTR, but I'll try to come up with a booklet design that will incorporate the general style of the LOTR inserts. When they do get finished, they'll probably have a 'some assembly required' notice from me, since I'm working with very minimal resources.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I hope you're right. We should start a 'best current price for the "Super F*cked Up Edition"' thread soon after the movies go on sale. It would be...well, entertaining.

And so I can laugh at them. Maybe if it gets bad enough, an ever more general outcry for the originals will be heard.

I want to laugh at them, too. I hope the movies look so terrible that people realize what a bastard Lucas has been towards his fans all this time. To read the forums on the official site and on TFN makes me sick, and I want to see everyone there start bitching about the official release, and we can move through the forums with the 'We told you so' line. Wouldn't that be fun?

Deep Blue Sea...haha...hearing that title always makes me think about Dave Chappelle's Samuel Jackson Beer commercial...

Coffee, did you not read my post? I said that CD "is" better meaning that the quality of the final product is better much like VHS vs DVD. Digital will always be better than analog. However, this doesn't always work better to listeners. I also said that in some instances vinyl "works" better. This means that for some groups, their recordings sound better on vinyl than on CD. An example that comes to mind is the Beatles. I cannot listen to the Beatles on CD. It sounds horrible. They work better on vinyl. Even more recent bands like Stone Temple Pilots work better on vinyl. But if you want to archive your stuff and make sure you have the best recorded copy possible, then digital is better than analog. Sound quality is strictly subjective. We can argue that all day long. So why bother? Let's just talk facts, and the fact is that digital (CD/DVD) is better than analog (vinyl/VHS).

Stone Temple Pilots have releases on vinyl? Wow...

And besides, it gave us a very legitimate reason to hate Jar-Jar...the fool gave Palpatine the power to eventually build The Empire!!!

Oh yeah, the new info about the next novel to take place after TNJO...

"Luke and Han travel to a strange planet called 'Naboo', where Luke "senses much evil." Han and Luke then proceed to blow the crap out a strange yet evil race living under the waters....and for some strange reason the Emperor has another clone."

Personally, after AOTC, I want Timothy Zahn to redo parts of his Thrawn Trilogy...read the parts about the clones or cloning and you'll understand why.

I actually don't mind AOTC, Dushku. Nor do I hate TPM. I take them for what they are, and I can enjoy them a lot. Of course, I don't hate Jar-Jar either. I'm probably the only one here who will admit to actually liking the damnfool. Please don't hate me...it's not like I'm saying, 'Jar-Jar is the greatest character George Lucas ever created. He's a masterpiece in every way.'

I have an even better idea. Quit all this bootleging and buy the official DVDs.

The more time I spend on this forum the more I question your involvement here. You seem to care little to nothing about these classic films or the preservation thereof. And after all, that's what this site was created for.

Scott

Well said, Obi-Wan. When I first got here, I figured he was just trying to defend the prequels against everyone, and I had no problem with that. But lately, Jimbo has just started to get almost downright hostile toward everyone else's views. You know, there are tons of people that share his opinions on the official site and on TFN. I have no problem with him having different opinions, but he's just started really slamming other people's views lately.
