Starkiller, I respect all that you said, and agree with it completely. I am nineteen, and though I'm from Jimbo's generation, I was long ago appalled with the way my generation and others regard women and often behave in general. I admit that I had a crush on Natalie Portman when I saw her in the first two prequels, but I wouldn't have been nearly as taken with her had I not read how intelligent she actually was. It's always tempting to dream about the women we see in movies and so forth, but you have to draw a fine line. You can see their beauty and simply admire it, or you can let it go further, which can be completely detrimental, especially as the odds are very slim that you'll ever set eyes upon them, much less say more than five words to them. I admit it, I have a Princess Leia Winamp skin with her wearing her slave outfit, and I have desktops with Keira Knightley from King Arthur and items such as that, but they are not because I'm horny. I find females mystical and lovely and I view them as equals, and so it sickens me at the way many men treat women.

Starkiller, even though I'm as young as I am, I too have had my mouth washed out and have been spanked many times over the years. I was sent to my room, but my parents paddled me or gave me a tongue-lashing first, so I would go to my room with enough of a heavy conscience that I couldn't bring myself to read or do anything else. Today, being in college and seeing the utter lack of discipline rampant on my campus, I greatly respect how my parents disciplined me, and realize things would be a lot better if other parents did the same thing.

And Jimbo, please quit accusing those of you that disagree with you on this point as being gay or female in an attempt to put holes in their argument. Just because someone put his hormones under control doesn't make him gay or anything else. It just means he's not horny.

Stupidest Prequal complaints

Who can blame him? The dialog is childish unpurpose. It is meant to show that childish behavior can lead to disaster. Id like you to find a love story that isn't at least a little bit cheesy. The only one I can think of is The Girl Next Door. There is no such thing as to much digital effects. Every digital effect in Attack of the Clones was perfect. Its easy to forget that is digital often. It is filled with deep imagination and a great mult-layered story. No movie ever was able to combine action and story as good as Attack of the Clones. That whole paragraph was all as the title of the thread suggests stupid prequal complaints.

Unfortunately, Anakin comes off as a thirteen-year-old rather than as a twenty-year-old. I can understand immaturity (I'm only nineteen myself), but George made him too immature for the role of the one who would become Vader. He might mature considerably before and during Episode III, and I really hope so, because I don't want to be laughing as I see him slowly fall to the dark side.

I'm still a relative EU newbie...I have read the novelizations (except for ROTJ), Cloak of Deception, Ambush at Corellia, and Heir to the Empire, but I have a ton of others lined up to read (I especially can't wait to finish the Thrawn Trilogy and get started on the NJO). Today, I happen to be reading the Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand graphic novel, and am enjoying it immensely (I'm not a comic person, but I really wanted to know more about Mara Jade, who is already my favorite EU character, and I also intend to read the Dark Empire comics soon, as well). I haven't went to Jedinet before, so I'll have to check that out. TFN is really starting to annoy me (as well as the official site).

That's a brilliant idea, Ric, and basically what I was thinking of! 'Bowling For Coruscant' is my favorite, personally.

Any questions we'd ask should be submitted by OriginalTrilogy.com, rather than just one person asking a question here and another there, because Lucas can ignore individuals extremely easily. I'd like to see how he and his yes men would respond to questions provided by a website that represents nearly 60,000 fans; it would be a bit harder for him to ignore. It's definitely worth a try.

One thing I think would be hilarious is for a documentary filmmaker to prepare a set of questions for Lucas and create a film focusing on him trying to actually infiltrate Skywalker Ranch and other places to get to Lucas and sit him down for an honest interview. An impossible hope, but the documentary could be entitled, 'Desperately Seeking Lucas,' or something like that.

5- People laughing at me in my funeral
6- McG
7- A clown with a gun coming to the office and threatening my life and the life of my co-workers
8- The melting nazis from "Riders of the Lost Ark"
9- Astronauts
10- Cristopher Lloyd's Judge Doom character from "who framed roger rabbit"

You know, those actually aren't terribly outrageous fears.

Turtles biting you when you sleep...that would be scary...

First Reagan, now Brando... Who's next? I bet it'll be Don Knots!

Ric, though I know that Brando was a classic, talented actor, I do think I will honestly grieve Don Knotts's passing far more.

my thoughts on originals vs SE...

Welcome, Stale Elvis! I'll echo Luke, and hope that Jimbo doesn't scare you away. I've spent more time reading the TFN boards than I care to think about, and I'm really fed up with the pro-Lucas talk you come across in every place where they discuss the original trilogy. I'm thinking of leaving the Classic Trilogy section for good and start posting somewhere where the posters are simply trying to have fun discussing the stories and the entire universe. I wonder if Lucas understands how much of a rift he's created in the Star Wars community, and even if he does, I'm sure he doesn't care.
I agree with you completely. If you have a copy of 1977's The Making of Star Wars, sit down and watch it sometime. It was made without hindsight, and gives you a feeling of what the original sentiments of Lucas and others were at the very beginning. You also get a sense of just how resourceful the effects people had to be with the technology they had at the time. The cinematic miracles they managed to achieve are now being erased, one special edition at a time, however. I know one of the effects that Lucas complained most about in ANH was the vasoline smudge under Luke's landspeeder, and yet I find that it was a creative solution to a problem, and it worked. It took more creativity and originality to think up the concept and say, 'Hey, why don't we smudge it out with vasoline?' then to say, 'Ah, hell, don't worry about the undercarriage of the landspeeder. We'll just take it out on the computer.' Do I hate the Special Editions? No, but I do hate that the dedication of the original crew members on the set of the movies are having their hard work wiped from the record.

By the way, Jimbo, some people actually feel Return of the Jedi is the best of the movies. If you want people to respect your opinion of AOTC being a masterpiece, don't slam ROTJ. Each of these films is someone's favorite in the saga, after all.

I would like to be more familiar with the EU than I am, and am starting to take strides in that direction. I found that I appreciated TPM and AOTC a lot more when I read the novelizations for them, and they added enough to the story that I would think they could be considered EU, but I especially found TPM a much more fully realized story after I read Cloak of Deception. Sure, it's not a terribly action-packed story, but the political intrigue is important to understanding what happens to the Republic, so I felt it served a very vital purpose in the EU. So, yes, Klingon, the EU does add to my appreciation of the prequels.

We should start a few EU discussion threads (on different eras of the EU or characters or something). It would provide a nice distraction from all of the technical threads on bootlegs (which I'm thankful for, but have no hope of understanding).

ya well he didnt lie...
he used editting to his advantage in that case...
its not like he said omg i cant believe i got a gun in one day!! and plus he was told that they do a background check on him before he gets his gun... it was in the scene when he is filling out the form i believe...

I still need to see that one, if I can ever get in the right frame of mind to sit down with it.

so much for jimbo's streak of tolerable posts...
jimbo i think your broke.... have u ever made a movie??? no! exactly.... so how the hell would u know what broke was?

Nothing lasts forever.

And truthfully, we'll never know how Lucas originally intended anything. His original intentions vary from year to year, and from video release to video release.

I may end up waiting for it to come out on DVD...though I do want to see it. I'm sure Moore stretches some truths and fabricates some lies, but I couldn't prove it, so I'll just go into the movie with an open mind and the determination to take what he says with a grain of salt. We have to do that with politicians anyway.

I understand that but i felt it played out better when you didnt see it...
things like that play out on your fears more when you dont see it... you can picture it for yourself...
look at the movie signs... many thought that the ending was ruined when they showed the alien... i thought it did...

i've always thought less is more...
play the game silent hill and you'll notice that they use sound more than any blood and gore to make a game scary as hell!!

...Or almost any Hitchcock movie (especially Psycho)...
