Luke Luke Luke. Poor poor simple Luke. Hardcore Legend posted that not me. I have nothing against the puppet Jabba in Return of the Jedi. Except that he didn't move. You have to learn to read more fully before you post and to start respecting others opinions.

Stupid avatars. That's it; I've got to select a new avatar and send it to Jay. This confusion is insanity...

Wow...great job, Dean! If I didn't feel so guilty about printing out another color-intensive cover set, I'd definitely use them. Maybe I'll print them out anyway...

BTW, what programs did you use to create these? I've put off my insert designing longer than I should have, mainly because the programs I was using weren't very flexible. Were the programs you used free? Could anyone else suggest a good program for designing covers and inserts?
Thanks!

Dave Chappelle is a black American comedian who has a show on Comedy Central that has gained a massive audience here in the US, mainly because he's irreverent and will push the racial envelope as far as he can. Most people here know him for the line, 'I'm Rick James, bitch!,' which was only developed in an episode this past winter. This sketch is from the first season, which I have on DVD, and if I could put it up for people to see, I would, because it's absolutetly hysterical how Chappelle takes the whole Catholic priest sex abuse scandal and turns it into a Jedi scandal.

You know, this just hit me: Luke Skywalker gets to be a virgin until he's about 30, right? And Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gonn, and Yoda, and Mace Windu, technically, they all are forbiden to have sex... And Yoda seemed to have too many young students around him...

You haven't happened to see Chappelle's Show, have you, Ric? Chappelle does a whole sketch about the Jedi Master sex abuse scandal. It's set up like an in-depth news report, with an interview with Darth Vader about the abuse he suffered (his face is darkened for anonymity). Best line in the sketch is delivered by Yoda when he and Qui-Gon are caught on tape doing crack and talking about the padawans: 'Good blow, this is.' Just by watching it, you could tell that Dave Chappelle is a Star Wars fan.

Haha...I'm remembering you comment about Jimbo looking like the alien in the cantina with the blue milk, and I'm trying to picture that alien breaking out of iron shackles...

I guess I don't mind the lightsaber touch-up, though I've always wondered if Obi-Wan's lightsaber was blue or green (despite the blue lightsaber that came with my Obi-Wan action figure). Some moments it seemed blue; at others, it appeared to be green. The only problem with touching up the lightsabers (other than the fact that future generations won't get to see how they evolved over thirty years), is that now I have to definitively regard Obi-Wan's lightsaber as blue. I kind of liked the ambiguity; it was fun.

Prequels from an Expanded Universe POV
Time
I am really starting to enjoy the whole concept of the EU big time. I've only read a few of the novels, but I've also gotten on this comic kick recently. I picked up Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand, which was wonderful, and now I'm waiting for the Dark Empire Trilogy to come in for me through ILL at my library. Of course, I still have to finish The Thrawn Trilogy and then a number of others (Shadows of the Empire, Han Solo Trilogy, I, Jedi, etc.), and then maybe I'll be able to get to the NJO. My problem is that while I'm wanting to read all of this Star Wars material, there's also too much else that I'm wanting to read.

What are everyone's thoughts on the whole issue of canon? Hope I'm not starting violent discussion...

Exactly. I never paid much attention to the scene before recently, but now it annoys the hell out of me. I saw this clip a couple of months ago, and I'm still wondering why they thought that making Han making a dainty little hop in his seat would change the fact that the current concept is full of crap, or shite, as Gundark so elegantly put it.

C'mon, independent filmmakers out here, make a movie about Star Wars fans and their declared hate over George Lucas new creations! You've got the title already: "Bowling for Coruscant"! All you gotta do is get some interviews, and with some luck, maybe interview Lucas himself!

Scene sugestion: after being fed up with the interview, George Lucas leaves. A Michael Moore look-alike then shows a picture of a mid-20s nerd with big glasses, lousy hair cut, and a lightsaber in his hand.

"Mr. Lucas, come back. Look. This is one of the fans you're letting down. Look at the picture, mr. Lucas."

Then he leaves the picture at his front door and leaves.

The parallels between the gun control issue in America and the continued altering of the OT are startling, aren't they?

That's what I got out of Bowling For Columbine when I finally saw it last week. The differences between the US and Canada were unsettling. It really frustrated me to be an American and realizing yet again that, as loudly as I raise my cries against the way the system is these days, not enough others were cry out as well, so my odds of seeing change are so slim.
