Well, if it only outlawed last year's movie, then I'd be okay with that.
Well, if it only outlawed last year's movie, then I'd be okay with that.
Ha, not that anybody but doubleofive seems to care at this particular moment, but I feel like I need a sounding board to figure out the direction I need to go.
So... yeah. My Power Rangers series was supposed to end after the last one, but I ended up not having enough time to bring things to what I felt were a satisfactory conclusion (stupidly not knowing that YouTube had expanded its time limit to 15 minutes). So suddenly having a fifth video on my hands, I decided to run with it, expanding it into a much larger entity than it would have otherwise been, briefly covering the next three seasons/series, which I consider to be the third evolution of their method of adaptation: updating yearly with the Sentai but still continuing the same storyline.
I've actually written, filmed, and have done quite a bit of editing on this one already, but now I'm beginning to have second thoughts or at least concerns. As I've stated before, my knowledge of things past... eh, the beginning of Power Rangers Zeo is quite limited as I'd stopped watching the series by this point. Linkara's videos have been a godsend for me to figure out just what the hell is going on. My knowledge of the corresponding Sentai is even less. Zyuranger is the only one I've seen all the way through, and that was before I got the idea to even do my own series of videos on the concept. I've watched a lot of Dairanger and Kakuranger but only enough to get me through the subsequent videos. And now I'm suddenly doing three series at once... granted in a much more cursory fashion than before, but it's still been some overload. And I wonder if I rushed into this a bit too quickly.
Also, I've always tried to find a balance between giving out Power Rangers knowledge and giving out Sentai knowledge, and I've never been entirely sure which my audience is more interested in. As for me, my two main through lines for this series have been, "How did Power Rangers adapt Sentai?" and, "If you want a detailed plot summary of Power Rangers, that's what Linkara's videos are for because that's not what I'm doing." When I bring up plot, I try to do so only when it's relevant to the production. That's why Zyuranger Part 2 had a heavy focus on plot because the Zyuranger plot heavily influenced the Power Rangers plot, and it was necessary to know both to understand it. And that's also why Dairanger and Kakuranger weren't covered as in-depth: their storylines had little do with the adaptation, but I tried to cover it where it was relevant/interesting.
But now I'm wondering if I've swung too far the other way and am not including enough Sentai information in this one. I am catering to an English-speaking audience who are probably more familiar with Power Rangers and are more interested in learning about the Sentai, so I've been trying to add in a little bit more about it. And I feel I'd be amiss without mentioning the historical context in which Ohranger and Carranger were created, ie. the sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subways on March 20, 1995, as that event shaped Sentai, which, in turn, would affect Power Rangers, so I think I'm going to go back and record a bit on the subject.
Aaaand... now I just need to make sure it doesn't become a huge, bloated mess, so I might excise some material as well. Bleh.
If there was a question in here, I don't know what it is. I just needed to write these thoughts down.
You just got narfed.

Don't some life sentences include possibility of parole, hence the phrase "life without parole?"
Now see? In my last post when I was talking about spies getting sentences, I specifically put in the word "implied" and italicized it just to avoid getting a response like this one.
There you go, shattering all my hopes and dreams, just like spies do... somehow.
Exactly!
Well... I dunno either, but maybe it's something to think about in terms of possessions and things...
I dunno...
Damn, where the hell is he anyway?
Yeah, and what ever happened to him, huh?
What's up with all the demonic possessions of late? I think Frink brought this all on us!

It looks like the American couple who sold state secrets to Cuba will get life in prison, which means they will likely die in there as they are both in their mid-70's.

Spying hardly seems glamorous now, does it kids?
Is it not implied that most people who receive life sentences will die in prison, regardless of spying or age?
I hope that's the only thing you find disturbing about that picture. Well, that and the camo. I'm not terribly fond of camo...
Not that I know of. I happened to be vacationing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, when I was making that video and realized that it looked very much like "Gotham City" did in the serial, so I decided to take advantage of that.
Oh, and the thing about it being hot was a total lie. I was in the mountains. It was freezing cold despite being late May.
Okay... in the interest of curbing the pandemic of mini vomiting
THREAD IS OPEN!!!
Thank you, thank you. ^_^ Yeah, I wasn't aware that YouTube had extended its time limit to fifteen minutes, and I didn't feel I'd be able to squeeze a decent conclusion into 20 seconds, so I just decided to make the finale into its own video. Plus, I love ending on a good cliffhanger. Or at least a funny one, but I guess you know that if you've seen the Batman and Robin videos.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I really do appreciate it.
Wow, Frink, that is quite possibly the Rube Goldbergiest Rube Goldberg device ever conceived.
The new video is finally up. And what a square peg in a round hole scenario it is! A five ranger team, a liability with the color pink, three sets of mismatched, out-of-sequence mecha... My head spins at how they tied it together cohesively.
But at least everything ends well enough... MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS!!!
Maybe you can exploit a loophole. Did the rules give any stipulation about going to the bathroom involuntarily? If not, bring on the Milk of Magnesia and let the Chocolate Rain commence!!!
Courteously.

For the most part, my sentiments lie in line with C3PX and A B C, although I'm not sure if I could say them with the kind of necessary force that C3PX did. There were times I was reading and wondering if he went too far, but sometimes I realize someone needs to not have any pulled punches.
I myself am in a rather precarious situation at the moment, and have to be forceful with myself. Perhaps I unfairly carried some of that over and laid in on Warb.
Ugh, what was I on when I wrote such a poorly-constructed sentence? Oh, yeah, Tax-Free Weekend. I don't know why I think I'll do a better job at nearly 3:00 in the morning after having spent the better part of the past hour constructing a montage to the theme song of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie (in prep for my next video, of course, not for something frivolous), but I'll give it a shot.
"There were times I was reading when I wondered if he went too far, but I realize that sometimes the recipient simply won't be able to benefit from advice unless none of the punches are pulled."
I hope that makes more sense. =P
Oh, wow. You're a Guildy?
Sorry this thread has become such a downer. And I didn't really have much of a chance to chime in. "My" wireless internet signal disappeared for a while. And this is also tax-free weekend in my state, which meant I was far too busy selling pretty clothes to the pretty ladies. But also, I just really didn't know what to say. For the most part, my sentiments lie in line with C3PX and A B C, although I'm not sure if I could say them with the kind of necessary force that C3PX did. There were times I was reading and wondering if he went too far, but sometimes I realize someone needs to not have any pulled punches.
If I had had a chance to formulate my words, I probably would have said a similar "do what you want to do" speech, but if I was forced to vote, I would have said "yes." I don't know if that's best for you, but I personally enjoy your presence in the Politics thread. As for your problems, I can certainly empathize to a certain extent, and you, of course, have my thoughts and well-wishes and anything else I could possibly offer you.
I will say this, though. If you are that interested in the community's opinion of you, I think the fact that so many people responded to the initial premise of this thread with helpful insight rather than complete derision and mockery speaks volumes of the level of respect and regard you have here. I think you should look to that with more weight than the outcome of the poll.

So does Burger King. They're mini-tastic. Your point? Also, we don't have crap White Castle. We have In-n-Out in Los Angeles: best. burgers. ever.
In-n-Out? Well, that just sounds... scarily euphemistic. What were you Californians thinking? We have Krystal as our mini-burger emporium. Not that it matters since I don't eat meat...

ew. I'm not that kind of guy. stop dreaming about me.
Hey! You stop following me to my subconscious in your Gandalf-reject cosplay, and we'll be fine!
I had a weird dream the other night that I saw Warbler in wizarding robes, and for some reason he insisted on following me to the beach where I was setting up for a film shoot.
His voice was deeper than I expected...

A clockwork orange. Weird sir. Didnt get the message Kubrick was getting at, but i loved it and hated it at the same time. Alex got reformed, so theres hope for all of us
But... he... didn't... get... reformed... which was kind of the point.
The title is meant to be a bit of an oxymoron. It refers to an orange, which is organic, and clockwork, which is man made and mechanical. Alex was meant to be the clockwork orange, something organic that they try to manipulate like clockwork, but nature doesn't work like that. There is no such thing as a clockwork orange.
Although the original book does end with Alex being reformed... but Kubrick didn't know that because the American version cut out the last chapter.

Even better is that Miles O'Brien isn't stretched out to fit the TV!
So, just Mile O'Brien?
:p
Ah, I see what you did there!
Is that a misspelled logical equation? As in: If Legs, Then Hitler?
Hey, come on. This is xhonzi we're talking about. I'm sure he must have had a legitimate reason.
Oh, unless your disparaging comment is in regards to the fact that he's tired of beating his wife, in which case... damn, you have problems, C3PX...
