It's hard to explain why, especially when I'm such a traditionalist, but I think it could work. It seems pretty multi-purpose. I am wondering how more traditional games will play. I guess we'll just have to see how things play out.
Were you aware that Nintendo is talking about opening up its entire game library? They want to make their games available to download to the Revolution...for a price.

Metroid on Revolution.
Super Mario Bros 3 on Revolution.

Someone either here or at IGN mentioned Punch Out using 2 of these controllers.

Yeah, I know of that, and I think it's pretty cool. However, I still have all of my old NES games and play them frequently, so there's not much I'd be willing to pay for. In fact, I own Metroid, SMB3, and Punch-Out. Ah, those were the days. When Nintendo was controlling the market. Of course, that was when they were also heavily censoring and removing a lot of the challenge from their own games...

Jar Jar is dead canonically!

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

I speculated that Lucas would prove that.
How?
Palpatine and (now) Vader destroy Naboo with the Force, in the worst way possible. In addition to removing the planet, they remove the knowledge of the planet as well. They wipe the memory of Naboo from the minds of all people except them.
Vader doesn't know Padme is on Naboo when it happens though.

Now, that way, you could have put Jar Jar on the planet as well, and then he's better than dead...
To quote the flavor text of the Magic card Door To Nothingness: “All memory of your existence will be wiped from reality. You will die, and no one will mourn.”

Are you serious about it? Vader and Palpatine exploding Naboo with the force, and erasing any memories of it? Why?! Why would they do that?! Don't you agree that if such thing happened in the prequels, the fans would LITERALLY eat GL's heart??

Why? If there had been a legitimate reason for it, why not? Maybe I'm wrong, but I never thought of Naboo as being a planet with a large fanbase. It's only remembered for being the planet with the funniest name and the shiniest ships.

My first thought too was that it looked like an NES controller turned on its side. I find myself feeling very strange over this. To be honest, what I called Nintendo's gimmicks (such as the DS) had done little to impress me. They all seemed like one trick ponies to me. And I am totally against online gaming, which is supposed to be the best thing to happen to home video game consoles. And none of the next-gen consoles have really done anything to make me say, "I have to have that!" I don't know, though. I felt a sort of twinge of excitement reading this. It's hard to explain why, especially when I'm such a traditionalist, but I think it could work. It seems pretty multi-purpose. I am wondering how more traditional games will play. I guess we'll just have to see how things play out.

Brosnan is no longer Bond, Daniel Craig is now Bond.

Yes, but I do think that, even when things are good, they can go on for too long. Besides, the movie industry is relying too much on franchises rather than coming up with new ideas, so I think that starting fresh might be a good thing to do. Tradition for tradition's sake and progress for progress's sake. They're both bad.

But if they really want to reinvent the series, they should have Bond become a developing character rather than just be stagnant in adventure after adventure. They should get a three or four picture deal with this idea and have him go through one epic story, finally coming to a climactic definite end. I think that would be a good shot in the arm for it.

Lucas's filmmaking rut
Time
I don't think that Star Wars doesn't work anymore. When the films were re-released in theatres in '97, they did astonishingly well. And the prequels have broken box office records. The world as a whole still loves Star Wars. And, even though the prequels lacked in almost every area except for special effects, we all still went to see them. There's a place in all our hearts for Star Wars, and that's why we continued to watch them and continued to hold out hope even though the quality was bad... because we love the movies, and we love the Star Wars universe. So I don't think declining innocence doesn't really matter.

Exactly. Obviously, he couldn't be exactly like Riddle, but like him in the respect that he always carried around this affinity for the dark side, and he always longed for power to satisfy his own greed, not to help other people. But it should struggle with his desire to do the right thing. But his greed ultimately wins out in the end. One of the most irritating elements of the Phantom Menace was that there was not a single moment where it hinted through his character that Anakin could possibly have any evil intentions. He was this perfect happy child who was all too eager to do the right thing and never hurt anybody in his entire life. The best we get was Yoda's cryptic message that something could go wrong. Ohhh, yeah, storytelling at its greatest, let me tell you. That's probably why I clung to Attack of the Clones so much when it came out three years later, because at the very least it showed some darkness in Anakin. It still suffered from the elements I said in my last post, but at least they were going somewhere with it rather than just having Yoda continue to say, "I think he'll be evil," even though they did continue to do that as well because there wasn't enough evil to sustain the idea on itself...

But I'm rambling. Hehe, I think it's so awesome that you had the same idea, too, Darth Simon. I wonder how many other people would agree.

The "increase your rating" thread
Time
I just have to make one more reply before this thread dies. To everybody: Isn't it much better to get a ranking that you've actually earned rather than screwing with the system, making useless post after useless post just to reach Trials or Jedi Master or what have you. I already feel guilty enough for that counting thread, which was funny at first but has now gotten out of hand, but this is just ridiculous. But if it's really that important to raise your post counts that much, just go post in the counting thread. It's several steps above just typing in random letters on the keyboard!

Yes, three: Tina "Ginger" Louise, Russell "Professor" Johnson, and Dawn "Mary Ann" Wells. The last three for the song.

I was quite shocked when I found out of Bob Denver's passing. And don't forget. He wasn't only Gilligan, he was Maynard G. Krebs on The Many Loves of Doby Gillis as well.

Rest in Peace. The world won't be the same without you. I can't believe he was already 70!

Why no mention of "Sith" in Episodes IV-VI?
Time
Yes, Sith was a term that was almost always (if not always) part of the Star Wars lexicon. It just didn't appear in the movies. Padawan... is a term that I really can't stand and wish hadn't been introduced to said lexicon. Apprentice just sounds so much cooler and more serious. It's not an original word, but it works. Padawan just sounds like some amphibious creature related to a frog. Younglings is even worse. Death to that word!

But, ahem, back on topic. Darth Vader was always known as "Dark Lord of the Sith." Padawan was just something that popped up in the prequels. Younglings was only okay when Yoda said it because I figured it was some sort of Yoda speech, but when other characters started saying it... bad things happened.

Worst changes to OT in '97 and '04
Time
No, no, no. Not the shuttle itself. The fact that it appears in a totally useless scene that's there because he was trying out digital ships and apparently some people can't figure out where the hell Vader goes and need it spelled out for them. Hence the line, "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." As if it's not already obvious enough. We can put two and two together. At least... most of us can.
