I think The Holiday special is more cannon than the fanbooks created. It has the original talent. And Lucas wrote to original draft. So I say shame on those people who haven't watched the show and couldn't understand what I was asking.

Yeah, er, shame on us...

Yeah, shame on us that we couldn't beat Lucas's magical hammer to a legit copy of the Holiday Special.

$36 pre-order (AR) for all 3 titles...anyone found it cheaper??

Besides, there might still be a chance that this mess can be corrected before time runs out for this release. What if people at Lucasfilm are reading these boards, gauging fans' responses? What incentive do they possibly have to put forth the extra effort if everyone is saying, "Damn, I'm pissed. Damn, I'm writing letters. Damn, I hate Lucasfilm. But, sigh, I'm still going to buy it"? I admit I'm still torn myself. I want the trilogy so badly, and I know everyone here who said they are willing to buy it want it just as badly. But we can't let them dick around with us like this. Like I asid in another post, we are the consumers. We're supposed to hold the power. They're supposed to work to get us to buy, and we, in turn, give them our money for their work enticing us. So far, I have seen no evidence of this "exhaustive vault searching" they claim to have done for this. More like "exhaustive searching on ebay for the Definitive Collection." I'm still on the fence post with four months to go, and there I will remain until Lucasfilm does its job and finds a way to woo me.

Make your voices heard! (again) - re the 2006 GOUT DVD being in letterbox format

Hey, if Mommy was buying the ice cream, then, yeah, I'd be a bastard for throwing it back in her face. But I'm a big boy now. I buy my own ice cream. And if I ask for chocolate with sprinkles, and I get melted chocolate with jujubes instead, I have every right to be pissed! Favor, shmavor. You give that man far too much credit, Shim.

Torn.... To buy, or not to buy.
Time
I still cast my vote as planning to buy them, because they are the original versions, and I want the original versions. But I disagree with the logic of buying low-quality products to inspire the release of high-quality products. We're the consumers, damnit! Companies are supposed to compete and pander for our money! We shouldn't just throw it at them in hopes of getting something we want. That's poor consumerism! It's also the same viewpoint that the SE enthusiasts have. "Well, it doesn't matter if there are mistakes on this version, or if the special effects aren't good enough yet. I'll still spend $70 on them, and I'm sure they'll be fixed for the 2007 super special archive holy edition... which I'll also buy!" It's a pretty sad time in the history of economics when consumers become that stupid with their own money. And the sad thing is, I'm in the same pit of despair.

For all those confused...

I'm assuming the tradeoff isn't that bad, as all the widescreen movies I own are anamorphic, and I think they look great on my standard 4:3 television, better than anything else I've seen. It's not, is it? But I also have a widescreen computer with HD capabilities, so just for that, I feel that anamorphic would suit me better in the long and short term.

Shim, it seems that every other member of this forum, including Jay, who has updated the main page page to reflect this and has stated that he refuses to buy this product, is united in our disdain for this slipshod treatment. I don't see what logical basis you have for calling us spoiled brats in this case.

Empire of Heart Attack
Time
I was just watching Empire of Dreams again today, and I thought of something. It said that the making of the original Star Wars was so stressful on Lucas that he started having chest pains. It was severely detrimental to his health the amount of working he had to do on that. So, to me, it makes even less sense that he'd want to cover it up and replace all that hard work with relatively easy CG enhancements/replacements. If I made a movie that almost killed me, I'd sure as hell make sure that thing survived, otherwise it would seem like I did all that suffering for no reason at all!
