How the prequels should’ve played out:
Time
Yeah, I never had a problem with the original duel from Star Wars, and I had no idea anybody else did until Lucas himself started complaining about it. It always made perfect sense to me in the way they were fighting. And the sequels just built on that and made it slightly more intense. But you get to the prequels, and it's all just crazy, especially the one in ROTS, which is another reason why that movie is becoming, to me, the worst prequel.

I missed the last couple of days, so this BadAssKeith stuff kinda got under my radar, but he actually has a very good point about Ben's robes that I never thought about before. The way Alec Guiness wears those robes, it just screams, "crazy old wizard!" But, yeah, they do become a Jedi trait. And Lucas should have known better. Actually, he did, since Qui-Gon had enough sense to change into a poncho before leaving the ship in order to conceal his identity. Boggles the mind.

But ROTJ had Anakin in the same robes, too, so it's hard to say.

And, Darth_Evil just had to remind me of the implausibility of the C-3PO thing. My personal favorite is when Anakin says that he built him to help out his mom. Yeah... like a slave in the ass-end of the galaxy really needs a protocol droid that can be programmed to learn 6 million forms of communication. Unless maybe he was originally designed like that urban legend trading card. He never did specify in exactly what way 3PO was supposed to be "helping" his mother, now did he? ^_~

Yes, I believe I admitted it was in my original post. Don't see how it's any more "immature" than the other justifiably angry posts by other members cussing him out and describing with detail the sexual acts that Rick must perform on George to keep his job. So thank you for singling me out, Mike.

ROTS in the IMDb top 250!

Pointless Charaters? I agree, Grevious was bad, and someone get him some Robitusson!

Don't forget Naboo. Seriously, TPM had the most real stuff out of all the prequels, and it's starting to gain my favor, especially considering how bad ROTS is starting to look on repeat viewings. I swear, parts of that movie are just painful to watch.

Segue.

Like every scene with General Grievous. Funny comment. I actually said the same thing when I was watching the movie with my friends last week.

Yeah, I have to admit that that letter choked me up a bit. I'm going to assume he meant every word he said. After all, he would have had no reason to write it if he didn't mean it. And I'm very glad that he's gotten help and hopefully will get his life back on track. As much as the people on the Internet are real, I think he's really lucky that he messed up here rather than in some other medium. In person, his actions could have been much more dire, and so could the consequences. What he got from here was a sobering wake-up call and a bruised conscience, and I'm sure that's the best that any of us could have hoped for, if that helped him clean up any bit at all.

So I'm glad Mike O started this thread because it ultimately brought about much more closure to this subject. And I happen to have quite a bit more respect for Adam because of that letter, because there are so many f-ed up people out there who never do get the guts to come back and beg for forgiveness or even allow themselves to admit that they have a problem in the first place.

Who knows. Had the circumstances been a bit different, maybe Adam could have been a respected poster here, and none of us would be talking about this at all right now.

What the hell would he care, anyway? No one had ever even heard of that pompous ass before the SE's in 1997.

Have you ever heard of someone so arrogant as to think they are above criticism? The SE's and Prequels are done - why does this mouthbreather still have a job at LFL?

I'm deeply offended - I think I might actually write a letter to this dickhead, asking me for all of my money back that I've spent on Star Wars crap since 1997. Seriously. If this is his way of saying thanks to us for making him rich? God.

If you're sitting knee deep in coke and hookers reading this right now McCallum, you'll be hearing from me.

C U Next Tuesday.

EDIT - Who says anyone ever worshipped GL? We like his movies, for God's sake...it's not like we all sucked his dick to get a job at LFL? Anyone know anyone who did that? Eh, Ricky boy you fat bitch?

Hey, if you have any contact information for Rick McCockum (sorry, I couldn't resist giving him a juvenile nickname, which is something I've never even done for George), then, please feel free to make it public here. I have more than a few things I want to say to that drone too!

Lucas' real reasons for changing the OT
Time
Yeah, you're right. They would have been better off doing things like that... but I'm glad they haven't. Even if they could make it totally seamless, Mielr is right, there was no other way for them to do it back then. It was a film made in 1977, for crying out loud! I know I can forgive a few technical flaws in exchange for a great movie. I don't know why Lucas and his fanboys can't!

Yes, that change alone is too much. And then there were all the other "fixed" blue-screen shots, etc.

I agree with boris on this one. That's the same reason I've never attempted to get the Indy set. I find it quite irritating.

Saber fighting as kids....
Time
I had both the Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader lightsabers back in the day, but I always longed for a blue one like in the first two movies. I got a friend of mine to help me act out the saber fights from all three movies. Of course, they had built-in sound effects, so I didn't need anybody to recreate them. I stopped buying when the prequels came out, and they started making those extremely low-quality sabers.

Honestly, I've been through two Halloweens in a college town, and, maybe it's simply because I don't party, but it didn't really seem like anything more special than regular Halloweens.

I watched a DVD called 'executions' a few years back. Horrible stuff. Don't do it Gaffer.

To update, I still haven't done it yet, but I still keep on meaning to. I figure if I do it I should do it before school starts when I can afford to stay up all night out of fear. =P
