Did Anyone go shopping today?
Time
Yeah, I have a hard time thinking how Brawl will play on Wii.

But then again, I just started playing Twilight Princess, and it really doesn't feel too different from its 3D predecessors. Aside from aiming and slashing with the Wiimote, it seems pretty standard. Not to say that the game isn't great and that I haven't almost wet myself because it's so much fun, but I'm just waiting to see if the Wii invovation is going to come into play more. Of course, then again, it was originally developed for GC, and I have heard at least one reviewer claim that the Wii functionality seemed rather tacked on. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

why does vader say obi wan has trained u well ?
Time
I saw it as simultaneously honorable and insulting. He's conceding that Obi-Wan was indeed a very fine Jedi and a fine teacher as well. But I also saw something sarcastic in there, possibly as a reference as to how Vader felt about Obi-Wan as his own teacher, especially his inability to keep Vader under his wing (something I hadn't thought about until I started writing this post) and also as a slightly disarming phrase (you can see in ROTJ that Vader soon follows it with a sneak attack).

I guess you could say I did, but it was the other end for me. I work in retail at the local mall, so... yeah, I was all up in that.

And speaking of the Wii, Chaltab, I got one for Christmas. I'm loving it!

Although my girlfriend beat the pants off of me at Wii Sports last night.

I got a Wii for Christmas too. It rocks. I'm having troubles getting into the Shop Channel, but other than that, everything is as smooth as silk. Luckily, I've had a much less embaressing time with Wii Sports. I kicked my brothers ass at boxing, which is my favorite of all the Wii sports to play.

Well, had I had two remotes, I might have been able to beat her at boxing. Since I only had one, we were only to play that game one at a time.

Hey guys, Remember when Star wars had writing like this?
Time
I thought in hte past everybody complained about the blue levels (and the color timing in general) in the '04 DVDs. People even posted comparison pictures of Hoth between the GOUT and the '04, where people praised the '06 for actually being able to perceive the color white rather than have blue snow. But that was how it was supposed to be?

And also, I've always been able to clearly see Executor as blue, even on these new DVDs. They really do look great on a 4x3 screen, better than I've ever seen them before, but they look much worse on my computer's Hi-Def monitor.

Man, that pisses me off that they would shut down that thread. Such blatant censorship and bias just frustrate me so.

And, for the most part, I agree with you guys that the SE, not the PT, is the source of nearly all the problems in the SW fanbase. But, in another way, the PT is indirectly responsible. I don't blame it on its own for that, but it has caused its share of problems. First of all, obviously, most of the changes made in '04 were a result of the PT, so the PT, in effect, is responsible for the current form of the SE. Plus, it's the PT that is responsible for this whole "Saga" view of everything. It's why The Empire Strikes Back is now referred to as Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes or just (shudder) Episode V. And it's responsible for the propoganda that the movies should be watched in numerical order rather than release order. I mean, obviously, we can avert that by simply not doing it, but it's still something I find annoying and would be something that fans would argue about. I have a box set of The Chronicles of Narnia from the '70s, which was numbered the way I feel it's supposed to be, the order in which they were written. I always cringe when I walk through bookstores and see the anthologies that start with The Magician's Nephew, which should be the 6th book, not the 1st. At least the movies had enough sense to make The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first. Whoo, sorry about that, but I just had to get that off my chest as long as I was talking about numbering.

Who is the most important character? poll
Time
Well, I do what I can. Hehe, I can't say that I thought my appreciation for Full House would ever be... well, appreciated!

And I'm still scratching my head over two things: how Miller-Boyett can defend the change of Jesse's name from Cochran to Katsopolis and...

where all their excess stuff went. In the beginning of the series, all their crap was kept in the garage... but then they renovated the garage into Joey's room, where D.J. specifically states that they moved all the stuff from the garage into the attic. But where does all that stuff go when they conver the attic into Jesse and Rebecca's bedroom? Do they get mini storage? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just get a new house rather than to renovate every room into a bedroom?

I guess that was more than two questions.

Who is the most important character? poll

I freely admit that I love Full House. I spent the first nine years of my life watching it regularly, and I still watch it in syndication. Strangely enough, when I go to lift weights at my apartment complex's fitness center, it always happens to be on, so I usually watch Full House when I'm working out. Thankfully, nobody else is ever there.

As for the question, I voted for Danny. Only when I started watching in syndication did I realize that John Stamos was billed first over Bob Saget, and that confuses me to this day. Danny's the dad! He's the head of the household. And let's do the numbers here. At its peak in characters, nine humans (not counting Michelle's evil twin, Michelle) and one dog lived in that house with Kimmy and Steve constantly hanging out. That's twelve people in all! If you didn't have a clean freak like Danny around, that place would be in constant disarray. Plus, he's the one who started all this. He brought his brother-in-law and best friend to live with him. So without him, there'd be no show (although, on a more morbid note, I guess you could say that Pam being killed in a car crash is what would distinguish between show and no-show).

Um, I just realized I wrote pretty long paragraphs about Full House. Um... I'm done now.

Should Yoda Have Been Part of the "Conspiracy"?
Time
I was watching ESB today, and I suddenly had a thought about Yoda's nature in this movie as opposed to the prequel trilogy (surprised)? As everyone knows, Yoda tried to reject Luke for being impatient and being too old and still seemed unsure even at the behest of Luke and Ben even though Yoda is well aware that Luke is one of the last hopes for the galaxy and, as we later learn from ROTS, that he was present at Luke's birth and personally responsible for sending Luke to Tatooine in anticipation of his later role. Does that make any sense? I suppose the easiest theory would be that Yoda was simply continuing his test of Luke, but if that were the case, why would Ben need to intervene on Luke's behalf?

Thinking about this, I came to the opinion that it would have made more sense if Yoda had not been around during the last parts of ROTS. That he had been beaten and watched all the Jedi been killed, and, at that point, he had pretty much given up on everything and decided to go to Dagobah not only to hide but to separate himself from the evil in the rest of the galaxy. And it was solely Obi-Wan's idea and implentation to separate the twins and watch over Luke because he still had a glimmer of hope. But after he had to sacrifice himself, Yoda, still skeptical as it seems in ESB, agreed to train Luke. That's the impression I get from watching ESB (and ROTJ), that it was Obi-Wan who was in charge of such things. Yoda's involvement in regards to Luke, Leia, and even Anakin for that matter, was never mentioned in the OT, and, based on what we saw of him, it doesn't seem like there would have been that much he did in regards to the twins.

Any thoughts?

My First YAGE
Time
Man, are you kidding me?! I don't even know what the hell to think about this. On the one hand, I think that Obi has been one of the best posters in the Star Wars forum for the past several months, whatever you think of the current state of that forum. But I always enjoy reading his posts, and I think many of you were totally out of line for giving him such a hard time in the Pearl Harbor thread. Guy expresses a viewpoint and people act like a bunch of idiots (and not in the fun and happy way that I'm used to). But I really don't want to see him leave.

On the other hand, I really wish he hadn't made this "YAGE" thread. Not only does it draw more ridicule, I really don't agree with it. It seems an uncharacteristic move for him, and I think that it's completely sad to throw away several months of community just because of one bad experience in a thread.

EDIT: And Shim. If I recall, Sean posted a similar thread recently, and I would definitely consider him one from the "good ol' days."

R.I.P. Peter Boyle

You know, I had never made the connection that it was the same guy who was the dad on Raymond and the monster in Young Frankenstein. Completely blew my mind both when I learned that and when I found out he died (which was at the same time). Seventy-one is a bit of a sad number to me. I mean, it's not young, but it still seems too young for him to die.
