I suppose we could all chip in a bit.
Well… Cinderella needs preservation the most… is anyone willing to chip in to buy it? Or is it sold already?
Would there be any visible difference between the 35mm and 70mm?
Is anyone planning on doing it?
I think Jerryshadoe is working on it alongside his “New Adventures” preservation.
Though if I may ask - would it be feasible to regrade the BD footage with the colours of this print? Seeing as that came off 70mm?
Nobody wants to miss that. I’ll put in a tenner when I can.
They did that?! That’s… that’s just rude.
That’s assuming you win the auction, of course.
And maybe then someone could regrade the HD version to that screener.
Oh it’s nothing, just I wouldn’t have noticed it when watching the film.
I’m trying to decide what to do about this guide now. Some minor clean up is one thing, even the occasional odd color choice (since older transfers have probably discolored worse), but when you remove all signs that these films were painted on cells and photographed to film, then what are they?
A state of mind, perhaps…?
If it’s any help, I’ve dug up auctions for 16mm prints of Snow White, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Well, I say auctions… only Snow White is, actually, the other two are Buy-It-Now. Also, I have some Super 8 prints which I’ll try to scan as soon as I get the proper equipment… which may take some considerable time.
Huh. Even if they were pink, I’d accept it.
So what colour were the skateboard wheels in the actual print?
Well, it was honestly worth a try.
Good, because I think - and I’m sure everyone agrees with me - Cinderella needs a new, superior restoration, and I can’t afford to do it.
We should get a research division on it.
So presumably Grex has a macrovision defeater installed?
I still say we should try to track down the HD/MUSE LaserDiscs.
It’s like that on the print… honest.
Nothing a little colour correction can’t fix.
Please tell me someone here’s going to get Cinderella!
I see what you mean exactly.
I’ve just discovered that there are HD LaserDisc versions of the Back to the Future trilogy! They call it MUSE or Hi-Vision. They’re very rare, but if we can obtain them we could have a superb preservation on our hands!
No, I didn’t think we’d win. What’s the 16mm like? Has it got the same colours?
