Vader in the Solo "hologram scene"
Time

Vader makes sense to me in the context of having the Empire’s fingers move into all areas of the galaxy and grasping for control. The Crimson Dawn would be the Emperor’s pawn in controlling the underworld through a puppet while he controls the more civilized world openly.

When Solo came out I had the same thought of it being Vader, having him control the underworld for the Emperor, maybe even doing it behind his back. But that way the post Order-66 era wouldn’t have two different opposing evil forces. You have the Galactic Empire who controls not only the government and the military, but has its own secret Jedi hunting force in the inquisitors under Vader, and then if Vader was in charge of Crimson Dawn they would secretly rule the underworld as well.

Good explanation! I saw it from the point of view as Vader undermining the Emperor by having dealings on the side. It spotlights the Vader/Emperor tension and also adds additional OT synergy villian-wise.

I don’t think I could help with the voice, but I might be able to help with the VFX. I think if your going to do this right you are going to need original audio and not just splice together audio from the other movies/tv shows. You might be able to reach out to someone who can do a good impression on YouTube. Someone not looking to monetize their channel. That’s what I did with my edit of AOTC and I think it turned out well.

If you can help with VFX, that would be great! I know of a few guys who do great Vader impressions - namely the guy from Shards of the Past - I’m going to give him a shout. I jsut didn’t want to dive too deep without knowing if i could make the VFX happen.

You mean Star Wars Theory?

Well Star Wars Theory produced the film but Jesse Gomez was Vader’s actual voice actor for the film.

I was thinking if somebody can silo Vader from Rogue One into a background shot… maybe slow Vader down and add a holo effect, that could work.

Clip from Rogue one (added holo effect)

Composite into background shot from solo

Obviously this is very rough visually, but I’d leave it to the VFX person to make it as close to perfect as it could be

SC.38 - Forceghostrecon's Cut
Time

I’ve updated the cut… I made a few tweeks for improvement and I think it’s sooo much better now.

  • Cut the “Obiwan rounding the corner” awkward shot in the intro

  • Fixed the timing on Vader’s first strike and the music cue. The editing was choppy in the original.

  • Added the close up of Vader gloves gripping his saber, which I really didn’t care for since he has the wrong gloves on but I needed the shot in order to add back in Obiwan’s “If you strike me down…” line… which i had originally omitted. I can live with the shot… Vader looks cool but the gloves are a little subpar.

  • Added lightsaber sound fx for vader’s first and last strike when he raises his saber… makes it sound much more powerful

Looks amazing honestly! I knew it’d work in the movie if you just removed the corridor scene. My only gripe is the scene of Obi Wan going around the corner before he confronts Vader. It’s really janky the way he looks when moving, also the camera movement is awkward. I think if you just cut to Vader walking, pulling out his saber, then back to Obi Wan at 1:17 it would look better.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m going to make some tweeks and re-release it tomorrow

SC.38 - Forceghostrecon's Cut
Time

So I really enjoyed SC.38 but I’ve edited it to omit some of the scenes I didn’t think worked very well.

Changes:

  • Cut some silly angles
  • Cut bad Force-push FX
  • Cut corridor scene
  • Rearranged shots to make more sense

ALT INTRO CUT (more Vader!)
This version incorporates a few Vader scenes from Rogue One with edited audio from ANH for a new intro.

Last of the Jedi (Purist version of the Clean Cut)

Ok, so I have a new edit called Last of the Jedi, which is basically the same as my “Clean Cut” but with a few changes tailored to the purist crowd, who prefer absolute saga continuity. The following changes*:

Change list:

*NEW - New Crawl for "Last of the Jedi" title and slightly altered text
*NEW - Starfield after credits goes into hyperspace and we see the Falcon en route to Ahch-to
*NEW - Luke's mountaintop scene reinstated
*NEW - Luke hands the saber back to Rey and walks away
*NEW - Transition to rebel cruisers escaping and new sfx
-Cut Rebel girl’s “oh no” in opening scene
-Cut Poe ‘prank call’ with Hux at the beginning
-Cut Snoke slamming and dragging Hux
-Trimmed ridiculous exaggerated amount of time it takes rebel bomber girl to catch the detonator
-Cut Finn/Rose side arc altogether
-Added Finn and Poe deleted scene
*NEW - Finn asks where Rey is and then we cut to Rey finding Luke in his hut
-Cut Poe/Holdo “fuel” arc
-Inserted Ryan Glossemeyer’s “Luke saves Leia” scene. I think this was really well done and a powerful scene. Great way to give us more Luke and show how the near0death of his sister showed him how important the Force is - adds depth to his inner conflict
-Cut DJ and Phasma side stories completely - these characters aren’t in this version of the movie
-Added “Luke mourning Han” deleted scene
-Cut Snoke’s “tied on a string indeed” line… since the choke slam is no longer in this edit
-Added Holdo’s introduction speech but cut tension with Poe - this scene also adds a nice exposition about leia recovering from her space-walk
-Cut Ach-Too caretakers altogether
-Altered Luke and Rey’s dialogue inside the Force tree - no more awkward 'no one is from nowhere" exchange
-Cut Luke/Rey joke bout “reaching out” and slapping on the hand
-Added Luke’s 3rd lesson - Caretakes Village scene - this scene works great to fill is a few blanks for the viewers - mainly the inclusion of Luke’s 3rd lesson, but also adds tension between Rey and Luke right before she storms off and received Kylo’s “force skype” telling her his version of the story… and she kind of believes him because she’s already annoyed with Luke
-Cut Holdo/Leia awkward “may the force be with you” and just let Holdo say it.
-Cut Snoke’s “Tied on a string indeed” comment with Hux (since there is no reference to it prior to this scene)
-Cut Rey force-grabbing Kylo’s saber in the Snoke confrontation, only to have it taken away from her a second later.
-Snoke’s guards now have red lightsabers (courtesy of Immersion VFX)
-Cut Snoke laying on the floor
-Cut Kylo’s “Do you want to know the truth about your parents?” lines (i didn’t like the original dialogue at all)
-Cut Finn trying to crash into the battering ram and Rose saving him
-Cut Finn’s “they hate that ship” in the Crait battle
-Zoom/scale the explosion to crop Rose and Finn out when the battering ram blasts the giant door open
-Luke uses his ROTJ hilt and GREEN lightsaber in duel eith kylo. (courtesy of Immersion VFX)
-Removed broom boy and slave children ending
-Removed Finn/Rose at the end
-Removed Poe/Rey meeting
*NEW - Luke fades away reinstated - before fading away, we hear him tell Rey "This is your fight now"
-Altered Rey’s conversation with Leia to omit “Luke is gone”
-New iris transition to end movie with falcon scene
-Added credits for myself and vfx artist

Is the line “This is your fight now” taken from the Rise of Skywalker trailer?

The line is created using elements of 2 different lines in the trailer “a thousand generations live in you NOW… but THIS IS YOUR FIGHT”

Blender and a good Vader model would be your best bet. Unless someone here has a Vader costume. You might also look online for a Vader cosplayer that would be willing to help out with the performance, then all you would need is to composite it in After Effects

JEDIT:
Also, will the dialog be the same as what is already in Solo?

I might be able to help if need be.

I will definitely need some assistance making this happen visually. A Vader cosplayer would literally just have to stand there and make slight movements but I’d need someone to film it and then composite it. i’m good with directing, editing(making actual cuts) and making mockups… but this shot is going to require somebody with a VFX background.

As far as the dialogue, how can you help if we keep the dialogue the same? Vader’s voice?

FXitinPost has just released his SC.38 “fanfilm”/remake of the Vader/Obiwan duel from A New Hope and it’s pretty awesome. Some shots look a little funny, but with a little editing, I think it would be a great addition to this “remaster” of yours. Check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to2SMng4u1k&feature=youtu.beNew+Teaser+T

(just a shame Vader has the wrong gloves on. So much work done and such a simple detail overlooked… sucks, but it’s still pretty awesome to see the new shots and choreography)

I like it but i have a little disappointment, because they didn’t do a color grading in the first scene and the escape scene to match the new fight scene ,but i understand why he didn’t do that. I felt sad in this part too 2:01.

2:01 is a shot i could live without. With a little editing (which i plan to do), I think this can be much better! 😃

Wow your cgi looks good, kinda reminds me of aggelw, his idea is kinda like this too, i didnt like his idea of making tantive red and i think this could be an alternative version of it.You should revamp the prequel trilogy too.

That’s exactly who i was talking about earlier in the thread - that dude has some cool stuff, but never released anything, right?? This project shows a lot of promise in the same realm. Looking forward to seeing more!
