What would Darth Vader have been like as a ruler, if he had overthrown emperor palpatine and became the emperor/ruler of the galaxy himself??

Tyrphanax said:

Well, at the time Anakin was becoming Vader, one of the Death Stars was already under construction, and if you take the EU into account, there was already a prototype completed at The Maw, so he would have had access to those right off the bat at very least.

The death star at the end of episode 3 was a prototype.

Also, the Maw death star that U R talking about, that was during episode 4 A New Hope. I looked it up on wookipedia, if he defeated emperor palpatine at the end of episode 3, then the maw death star prototype wouldn't have existed, therefore your arguement that Emperor Darth Vader would've used it is invalid and false, no offense intended here, bro.......

Well, if darth Vader defeated the emperor at the end of episode 5, well, then maybe, maybe not......

As long as they re-release the unaltered, theatrical trilogy so I can watch it, they can put ol' sexy long-haired Hayden Christensen in every scene for all I care.

No, not in every scene. Just in relevant parts. Like, for instance, edit out sebastian shaw's voice during the scene where luke unmasks his dying father anakin skywalker, and replace it with hayden christensen's voice, like make hayden christensen talk in a very low, weak, monotone voice like anakin did in ROTJ......

BTW, how's the weather in Trenton tonight? ;)

Darth Vader would have been an enlightened despost/benevolent dictator.....

He would use his armies to defeat the rebellion alliance, who are armed criminals commiting treason from his POV...

The quadrillions of imperial citizens would be happy and totally unaffected by his rule...

George Lucas is like Santa Claus, the wise old white-haired bearded man who gives everybody (millions of people actually) gifts and presents (kickass SW movies)!!!!!

You mean except for those loyal fans that supported him since 1977 and gave him his Empire through ticket and merchandising sales, only to get shafted with the suppression of the Original versions that they love.

That would be like if Santa gave you the best present of all time, then a few years later shat on it, gave it back to you, and refused to clean it up.

Nice comedy and humor and sarcasm attempt, I appreciate and understand your witiness, and I understand what U R trying to say, but I can't disagree with you any more than i disagree with you now. The prequels kicked serious ass, i mean, seriosuly......

I actually do want more remastered and special editions. I want one where you edit out hayden christensen's force ghost, and NOT replace it with Sebastian Shaw, but either wait another 20 years or so when Hay Chris becomes a middle aged (mid-late forties), man, the same age that anakin skywalker would have looked if he hadn't been burned and turned to a crispy bald headed white skinned egg face.....

AND/OR actually film him smiling, instead of just copying and pasting a picture of him into that scene with that creepy face, make him film himself smile.......

Comprise solutions rule!!!!!

I mean, Sebastian Shaw, well, I like to be very accurate and precise. If, this guy, right here......

Aged about 20-something years or so, I highly doubt that he would look like this......

I do agree with Sebastian Shaw supporters that Anakin skywalker's ghost looked way too young, though. So have him look something like a middle aged Hayden Christensen would be, not only does it make his ghost look the same age that he died at, but it is very consistent to the storyline......

...For instance, let's take a good look at what happened in during/WW2. The Allied Powers defeated Adolf Hitler, the Third Reich, Nazism, Nazi Germany, the evil xenophobic racist Japanese Empire (a very little known fact about imperial japan during the second  world war, they were evil bastards who killed innocent people and civilians in China and other countries-for instance, unit 731, it's is a Slayer song, but it's is also a horrible torture chamber human experimentation done by imperial Japan).....

So, we defeated 2 of the most evil groups of people in all of history, and saved possibly, almost most certainly and definitley true, tens of millions of innocent lives from evil mass murderers. Regardless of the fact that the allied powers contained an evil mass murderer, Joesph Stalin, and some may have estimated that the soviet union atrocity body count may have even surpassed that of nazi germany, in the long run, without the soviet union, tens of millions of more innocent people would have died in genocide and ethnic cleansing. The Stalinist soviet union did most of it's atrocities and purges before the 3rd reich ever came to power, and most of joseph stalin's atrocities were done and over with, as opposed to the nazis, who were a real threat that had to be stopped and defeated.....

Anyone who thinks that the Soviet Union, IF UNOPPOSED by the U.S. nation ruled by the U.S. Constitution, would have been any better and not worse than Stalin in the thirties needs to carefully read Orwell's 1984 AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES.

Most of those killed in Europe in WWII were killed by Soviet brutality and disregard for life. The Soviets were utterly exhausted from all their genocides and purges in the '20s and '30s and stupid and evil sacrifices of lives in the war. They had NO CHOICE but to moderate in order to meet the VAST moral and technical superiority of the U.S..

Orwell's entire point was that TOTALITARIANS, regardless of the particulars of their respective doctrines, are exactly the same in basic mentality and goals. They will continue to amass greater and greater power, over every single aspect of human existence, ad infinitum. It's what they are all about. Any suggestion otherwise is only to fool people. They don't HONESTLY recognize ANY upper limits to what they take from others. For every inch they gain they will be right back for another mile...........

If VADER was a totalitarian, he would have kept going and going and going..........

If Adolf Hitler was never defeated, then the Nazis would've killed tens of millions of more people. The Soviet union body count was mostly done and over with, it happened during the 20s and the 30s. The Nazis, on the other hand, were just getting started. 6-12 million people died under their genocide, and, without the Soviet Union, probably something like 40-50 million at the very least would've died. The Soviets may have killed tens of millions, but that was done and over with. In the long run, we had to team up with the mass murdering Soviets to prevent even more mass murder from Nazi Germany in the long run.

In the long run Nazi germany was a far bigger threat than the soviet union. Know your facts.......

If Darth Vader was the galactic sith emperor, he would've only tried to defend himself from armed wartime rebel traitors, which is not tyrannical or evil. Would he have done anything that affected the average joe living in the empire??? No. If i'm wrong, which I probably might be, im willing to hear why...

Yes, but that doesn't deny the science fiction elements........

Even with it coming direct from the creators of the saga you still try to convince yourself that you are correct, when in fact you are just making yourself look more and more stupid with every word ;) Or you are just one of the biggest trolls here. I wonder why so many places banned you?

I've never seen anyone go off-topic as much as you, and I've seen the Off-Topic section of this site leak out onto here a hundred times. I would argue that in a thread about Darth Vader, Hayden Christensen is on-topic.

You very consistently and constantly bring up his apparent hot-ness as if it were the only thing that mattered about him; not his skill at acting or his fit in the role of Anakin, but the length of his hair and his looks are all very important to you and I wonder why you go that route over his skill as an actor.

It aint just his super hotness and good handsome looks, I mean that's is a very big part of it, but there are other factors. His acting, I mean, lets forget about looks for a minute, was pretty good too. I mean, the Mustafar scenes were just plain awesome, when young Lord Vader slaughtered the entire Seperatist council, that creepy evil look on his face when he walked in the hallways on Mustafar to find them, his last scene ever with Padme "I have brought peace to the republic. I am more powerful than the Chancellor, i can overthrow him!! And, together you and I can rule the galaxy, make things the way we want them to be". "I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new empire"!!!!!

Besides, he just looked perfect for young Darth Vader, pre-robot suit. I mean, people are just too freaked out to put Darth Vader on the top list of good-looking men, but really!!!!! Darth Vader's true face and body is (A), hidden inside of an armory samurai robot suit, kinda like how robert downey jr's face is hidden inside of the Iron Man suit, so the look of his suit and helmet is totally irrelevant to what's underneath it, think of it like the medieval knights almost, and, that

This guy

Is obviously a middle aged, disfigured, burned, pale-white skinned, bald man. He was once a young and healthy looking man, and even before the prequels came out, it was established that he was disfigured and became a bald white skinned cyborg in an armory life support suit. So, that egg-looking face that you see right there could have easily been a guy like this

Who was terribly disfigured and burned in a volcano and eventually his skin turned white from being trapped inside of a helmet and not getting any sunlight.

Was put inside of a black samurai suit of armor

That was a shell of his true face-look above and notice the difference between cyborg Vader and normal Vader, just a helmet like the medieval knights used to wear. Nothing in the original films gave us even a slight hint about his physical appearence.....

It isn't just good looks and hotness, it's is also that he looked the part......

Read this: http://scifi.about.com/od/starwarsglossaryandfaq/a/Star-Wars-Faq-Is-Star-Wars-Sci-Fi-Or-Fantasy.htm

Star Wars has been called science fantasy for ages.

Also, what does "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away" sound like? "Once upon a time, in a land far, far away," of course. This goes along with the fact that the original Star Wars is pretty much the archetypal fantasy film, but with futuristic technology.

It's science fantasy.

On a note less off topic: speaking of unlikely death cheatings, my brother has been trying to convince since 2005 that Mace Windu didn't die in ROTS. I've been telling him that he's crazy, and that no one else shares that opinion, but recently he told me all of his college buds share the same belief. It's a little baffling, but, I'll raise the question anyway:

Do you think Mace Windu survived being electrocuted and thrown off a 300 story building?

Rescuing a helpless damsel in distress princess from a fortress

A wise old bearded man sage

A young hero

A black Knight (darth vader armor suit and samurai helmet)

Sounds like a fantasy/fairy tale, right???

However.....

It’s science fiction. Bad science fiction, creIt’s science fiction. Bad science fiction, created by a man who is obviously a near-illiterate in all matters scientific; but clearly science fiction. Mythic, poetic and mystical elements are no more alien to science fiction than they are to any other genre of fiction.

Which one???

You actually proved my point in the first line of your "Space Opera" quote..

is a work set in a far future space faring civilization

Isn't Star Wars, as you said yourself before your quote, set " A LONG TIME AGO....."

Ok, other than that, read the rest of what it says.....

Stop nitpicking, star wars has all of the other space opera science fiction elements......

Fantasy is usually medieval/ancient

Science fiction is usually set during/in futuristic settings

But there are exceptions, such as futuristic fantasy stories, or ancient science fiction stories.......

What if I write a story about time travel to the past??? Science fiction or fantasy???

Also, I never thought the acting could be worse in the prequels, but the acting in that clip from the game was so much worse than anything in the films. Holy crap.

If you can find a quote where Mr. Lucas says SW is Science Fiction, you get a cookie. Otherwise, you're beating a dead Taun Taun.

I am perfectly willing to ignore to opposite/different opinions.

The definition of Science-Fiction:

Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, parallel universes, aliens, and paranormal abilities....

So there. Star Wars does not fall  into that category. Another quote:

Drawing the line between science fiction and fantasy is not made any clearer by...Star Wars, a borderline case in which a mystical power known as the Force lends a strong fantasy element to the science fiction veneer....

So that puts that to rest

Lol.........now that's a fantasy.

Space Travel

Aliens (it takes place in a galaxy far far away from earth and the milky way galaxy, so it does NOT take place in a fantasy world)

Ray guns, laser swords (lightsabers), and giant space stations that can destroy planets are all very science fiction-y.......

The Force is not mystical, magical or supernatural in any way.......

Space opera is still a subgenre/form of science fiction, no less science fiction than any technobabble star trek type stuff, to quote http://thetorchonline.com/latest/what-the-hell-is-star-wars-anyway-science-fiction-or-fantasy/

It’s science fiction. Bad science fiction, created by a man who is obviously a near-illiterate in all matters scientific; but clearly science fiction. Mythic, poetic and mystical elements are no more alien to science fiction than they are to any other genre of fiction.

The evil deeds of the empire were a response to the rebels.....
