Will the The New J.J. Abrams Star Trek destroy the Legacy of the original 1960's series? Discussion
Time

From TrekMovie.com:

Will it fit with Star Trek History (canon)?
Yes.
The writer/producers (Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman) as well as star Leonard Nimoy have repeatedly said they will respect Trek history and canon.

Does ‘Trek canon’ allow for Kirk and Spock meeting before the Original Series?
Yes.
First it is not yet clear if the film will be set before the 5 year mission or not, but if so, there is nothing in established canon that would contradict meeting before.

R.I.P. Jerry Reed
Time

Sad News.

The "Smokey and the Bandit" star died today at the age of 71.

He was also the star of "Hot Stuff", a movie I just LOVE!

Entertainer Jerry Reed dead at 71

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jerry Reed, a singer who became a "good ol' boy" actor opposite Burt Reynolds in car chase movies like "Smoky and the Bandit," is dead at age 71, according to his longtime booking agent.

Carrie Moore-Reed, who is no relation to the star, says Reed died early Monday morning of complications from emphysema.

Reed was a gifted guitarist who later became a songwriter, singer and finally an actor.

As a singer in the 1970s and early 1980s, he had a string of hits that included "Amos Moses," ''When You're Hot, You're Hot," ''East Bound and Down," and "The Bird".

I'm addicted to gummies
Time

I am also addicted to these types of candy!  I found that whenever I am in the Orlando area (a short drive from my home), I have to take a side trip over to the Downtown Disney candy shop just to get all the bags I can of their brand of gummies and sour / sugar gummies. I find them the best I have ever had. When I was a kid I was so into DOTS, this was before gummy bears, gummy worms came out. Oh and I also love Mike and Ike fruit-flavored candies.

Apparently, T1 and T2 are 100% canon with "Salvation," but T3's events, while they happened, won't be followed as strictly (i.e. some elements may be retconned or just not mentioned).

Sounds like what they did with the Jaws movies. Jaws 1 & 2 had been cannon, and the only thing carried over from Jaws 3 to Jaws 4 was that Michael Brody was studying ocean sciences.

Morgan Freeman rescued from crash in Mississsippi with the jaws of life - in hospital now
Time

'Dark Knight' star Morgan Freeman injured in Mississippi car crash

Morganfreeman

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman has been injured in what was called a "serious car accident" in Mississippi last night.

TMZ is reporting that the "Dark Knight" star, and Hollywood's favorite voice of God, was in a car accident around 11:30 Sunday night, just north of Ruleville, Miss.

Freeman was airlifted from the crash scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The news of the wreck was initially reported by MediaTakeout.

Freeman's condition is unknown. State troopers told reporters that the actor was talking before he was taken to the hospital.

An unidentified female passenger was also in the car. Her condition is not known.

Even though he's a hot property in Hollywood, Freeman still calls Mississippi home.

He and his wife, Myrna, live near Charleston, Miss., on a 126-acre ranch with a main house, peach trees and horse stables.

Freeman built the ranch on the same land his grandparents worked, which is where he spent much of his childhood.

I was watching an online video about Illuminati symbolisim last night at

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8394844811105390386
and researcher Jordan Maxwell (the man giving the lecture) was showing some slides of historical artwork representations of Mt. Sinai (a place said to be where God spoke to Mosses and gave the Jews who had been on a long exodus the Ten Commandments). Take a look at the original art of Mt. Sinal, and then look at the photo used for the menu selection image for the episode "The Eye of Jupiter", and also seen in part of the the BSG episode "Rapture" that is on the season 3 BSG box set. They look very alike don't they?

I'm really surprised that they found Earth mid-season.
So what does everyone reckon? Is this Earth in our future after we've fucked it?

http://www.griffongames.com/uploaded_images/replaced-716866.JPG

I think it could very well be pre-history Earth of the very distant past. That sure looks like a soon to be sunken city at the end of that episode.

The continent of Atlantis was an island
which lay before the great flood
in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean.
So great an area of land, that from her western shores
those beautiful sailors journeyed
to the South and the North Americas with ease,
in their ships with painted sails.

To the East Africa was a neighbour, across a short strait of sea miles.
The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of The Atlantian culture.
The antediluvian kings colonised the world
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from fair Atlantis.
Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth.
On board were the Twelve:
The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist,
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends.
Though Gods they were -

And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the new
Hail Atlantis!

Well, I didn't expect them to get there so soon.

I was more or less expecting they'd find what they've found, but I thought it'd happen round episode 13-15, not 10.

I have to say that I very much liked the events of episode 10, but I was not happy with how it was done. The episode had a very rushed feeling, and the script was not strong at all. That should have been a two hour story, and might have been better if presented as a mid hiatus movie like "Razor" was. I'm sure they had good reason for the way it was done, but I still feel it was a rush job. Some of the events sure could have been better told with more drama and interaction. But that said, i'm still happy with where the story line led us to.

I think we will be seeing Desmond again, as his love Penny is now on the top of Ben's hit list.

"I'm here to tell you that I'm going to kill your daughter...Penelope, is it? Once she's gone, dead, then you'll understand how I feel, ..." - Ben to Charles Widmore from the episode "The Shape of Things to Come"

And also Desmond is "the constant" of that scientist Daniel from the freighter, so he still has a role to play in the big picture.

Ive given up after the finale of season 3, only as i moved house. But the general feeling is this season gets better then (without reading to much as i dont want any spoilers)?

You can view this entire season for free and in HD Straming at the official LOST site:

http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing?channel=79517

It's well worth it. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the episode selection, as the top episode is the finale. The first episode of season four is titled "The Beginning Of The End".

Universal Studios (literally) on fire!
Time

You know, I wish Universal Studios would have a Battlestar Galactica ride. I remember in the early 80's they had Cylons walking around the park, and some props on display from the show, but a full blown BSG ride would be a great idea. Now that it's one of the most popular Sci-Fi shows on T.V., I think it would be a welcome attraction. With this fire, they now have the room for it.
