"Pre-launch countdown will commence in forty minutes."
I like the new poster too.
Here is one I HATE!

With God as my witness, I was going to post that same silly "Hello compyutair" scene.
Well done, sir. ;-)
That's so funny man.
You know what? I am going to have to admit something now that I never truly fully realized until just this very moment. I think "Star Trek IV" truly sucks.
At this point in time, I have much more respect for "Star Trek V". I don't know why it took this long to sink in. The jokes are so lame, and the Characters act like they lost 70% of their I.Q. when they time traveled. The music was atrocious. It's even more of a let down, because it's part 3 of the trilogy, and is forever linked to the Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock's story arc. But I still enjoy it to a point, and would not think of removing the DVD from my collection.
I feel most Star Trek fans have been let down before, but still return and enjoy Trek again and again. With flaws and all.
Most of us got over the re-casting of Savic (to a point) in ST: 3.
We deal with the unsightly uniforms of ST: TMP.
We forgive blatent disregard of established Trek cannon, when in the all time best trek movie Khan knows Chekhov.
We overlook the obligatory incertion of Romulan Ale in most films after ST:II.
I'm sure Trek fans will indore this film as well.
My only question now is, should I see it at the IMAX?

Scotty (Simon Pegg) trapped inside water pipes then He has his "I like this ship…it’s exciting" line.
Simon Pegg as Scotty maybe worst then Jar Jar.
This movie is looking even more horrible.
This maybe the kid's trailer, but it is still bad and will be in the movie.

Without the scene being in more context then shown, I can't be sure of what is going on or if it's goofy or not.
Scotty always had the grown worthy lines.
"Where there will be no tribble at all"
"Hello Computer!"
I have been enjoying all the comments on this subject. Even with my douts about this film, I think I will try and see it on the opening night. Some movies are better with a lrg number of fans there. The last Trek I saw on opening night was "Generations", and the excited crowd reactions made that film so much more fun.
Did you know that kid who stars in this Scott Schwartz went on to become a porno star? Just a bit of trivia.
After 5 years, I still did not get the answer to the one question that has been bugging me from the start of the show.
Who left the note for Adama that said, "There are 12 Cylon models"?
It was a very good end to the series. The fate of the fleet is just how I wanted it to end all along.
C3PX said:Nobody around here really seems to care too much about this show, but since this is an SW forum, I thought it worth mentioning that episode thirteen of this season is called, "Some Like it Hoth" lol.
You know, I cannot imagine watching Lost and not being a SW nerd, you'd miss soooo many references.
I LOVE this show, and spend alot of time over at http://www.lost.com/
Do you think we will find out why the Donkey Wheel is frozen in this episode?

So Spock will bring 24th century technology to Earth around the time of kirks birth? And that is why the Enterprise and other things look much more updated during this film at this time period?
C3PX said:Okay, so this was bothering me so much (and I obviously have nothing better to do at the moment) that I started at page one and searched certain key words from the two deja vu posts. Here is what I came up with:
Out of the fourteen pages in this thread, sky mentions "my bad" and the Bumblebee peeing thing from the Transformers movie in about half of them (literally! Don't believe me, check it out for yourself. I am impressed at that man's dedication!)
Also, around page nine or so, we did have a discussion about the comic book, and sky had this to say about it,
skyjedi2005 said:I hope "get your ass up here, big boy" is only indicative of comic book cheese and is not the level of dialogue associated with the film. After the cringe worthy dialogue in Transformers consider me worried.
So, I am not going crazy! There are no eddies in the space time continum, and no temporal anomaly that might prevent life from ever evolving on earth. Phew!
Well, I had not seen that quote by Sky before your re-post of it. Just seems I happen to agree with some other posters on the non-classic sounding script, and a few other techniques being employed in the making of this new film. We all have a right to engage in this discussion, and so what if the same positive or negative aspects of the movie are repeated over and over. I’ve never seen problems with that in any other discussion on the forum. When the movie comes out I may have to eat some crow, and just say how good it is over and over. I just may want to discuses my favorite scenes more then one time, and I would not even mind if other people would make mention of that same scenes or quoted lines of dialog in there posts within the thread. And by the same right, I may do the exact same thing if the movie just plain sucks. Then, I may repeatedly mention segments of the film that had been disappointing or simply ridiculous. That’s what this forum is all about. If people are having a positive or negative impression going into this film, then I want to know why.
C3PX said:Okay, I could have sworn those last two posts from FF and sky were posted a long time ago. I know I have read those comments before, but yet they were just posted today. I am experiencing some weird form of forum deja vu. Or... perhaps I have become unstuck in time? Poo-tee-weet?
I could not get passed the first page of this new "Star Trek: Countdown" movie tie-in comic. What the heck kind of writing is this? Why do they have Romulans talking that way?
Romulan Woman Bridge Officer: "No time to explane Big Boy. Just get your ass up here."
This is how Romulan officers talk to each other?
And this is the same dude writing the film? That's sad news.
You are all very welcome.
All that info should be in the first post.
Sorry, I am trying to get this done, and don't have the bitrate numbers for the encoding at the moment. I'll post them as soon as I have time.
I'm very glad to know that so meny people are looking forward to this. I had no idea this project would be so anticipated.
My goal was to get the Special Longer Version done first, that way I could use it as a source for my personal "edited down cut".
After this SLV is off my hard drive, I can get to work on that. I have lots of ideas maped out, and I don't see the cut taking more then a few months. I say my edit should be out before June. After that it's "Red Curtans: Twin Peaks Retold"
Jeyl said:So, we just wait and see what will be in the Private Messages?
Yes, if you have posted on this thread you will get a PM with info on April 2. That is if your box if not full, or locked.
So here is the deal. This will be a DVD9, and will have the Special Longer Version in widescreen format, promo stills, audio interviews from 1979, and advertising artwork. If anyone wants to make an anamorphic version after this is released (or any other kind of project) using this version as the source, that is 100% fine by me.
Now, due to forum rules all I can say is that if you have posted anything to this thread by April 1, 2009, you may want to keep your PM mail box clear for some important info that may come your way on April 2nd 2009. Let me be absolutely clear that I will not respond to any questions, offers, or any other matter in relation to distribution of my personal work on this website, be it in the forums or via personal mail. If you have helped me out with this or any other projects, I know who you are, and you will also be contacted.
FF
I just can't see William Shatner addressing anyone as "Man" outside of his T.J. Hooker role.
I'm not sure I am buying this new actor as Kirk. If they can't pull off Kirk, this film is doomed
It looks like it's going to be a fun movie no matter what, so I'll spend my money on a ticket.
If it's real good, and the effects are well done as they look to be, then I'll see it a second time on the big screen.
I hated, bad mouthed, and still to this day loath "ST:Nemesis", but somehow the DVD is still in my colection. So, the same will most likely hold true for this Trek as well, except it will be in Blu-ray format.

"She'll launch on time, sir, and she'll be ready."
We are looking to finish her up this weekend. Look for a report Sunday night. Due to space limitation on the DL disk, we are picking the best extras to go with this edit.
