Desaturation I was OK with.  But that's like color-tinting, which doesn't seem right at all...

Some of the best films ever made were a little desaturated. I agree the color tinting  is disgusting. At least we know that the filters can be removed easier than the blues in Empire Strikes Back. I think this will show fan editors that any thing is possible with this film. Of course the trailer didn't have any of the really yellow scenes from the film. I am actually thinking of doing a colour correction of this movie and what other bonus/deleted scenes are on the Blu Ray. Of course I will need help because I don't know how to set up the files correctly for releasing them on here. But I will have plenty of time to think about doing this from now until the home video release. I might even add more of william's score to the film. But there is as a chance I might do this and a chance I might not. But hopefully someone will see this thread and see that they can colour correct it.

Wow that sucks, you'd think because it was Harry Potter the opposite would be true and they'd throw heaps of money at you.

Oh no. Anyone who thinks working on big productions will get you big money needs to think again. No-one does this work at any junior crew level for the money. I was also at Leavesden when they did Phantom Menace, and trust me, everybody got paid very badly then, too.

Hmm, makes you wonder where that $200 million goes when making these things... >:)

Well the producers have to have something to stuff their mattresses with.

Yeah, I definitely prefer the brighter colors of some of the previous Potter flicks. Monochroming it doesn't make it more edgy, it just makes it less visually interesting.

And isn't like they are covering any mistakes doing it that way. Look at ESB underneath all of that blue is beautiful colour just ask Ady.

Anything that involves bringing back or "reimagining" a dead franchise ala Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, Predator, the list goes on....

They didn't stop making Dracula or Wolfman movies, did they?  Freddy, Jason, and Michael have become the new "monsters."  They're going to be redone time and time again because they've earned that status.  They're just as iconic if not more than the old Universal baddies and iconic characters deserve to be retold throughout the years with different perspectives, actors, etc.

FanFiltration said:I also think a 3rd film is the best idea just to get this version of Batman into the bat cave, and into a kind of format that would work if the series was handed over to a new team (not re-booted}. But only if they plan to do a series of stories with an older Batman (and 12 year old Robin) a few years down the road from this one.

Well, if Nolan is in charge, you will never see Robin in any of the films.  This is a young Batman and adding in a 12 year old who wears a bright red and green outfit really doesn't fit into this universe.  And if they do bring in Robin, count on Bale leaving because he doesn't want Robin, either.  I recall him saying something along the lines of he would chain himself outside WB studios to protest.

And with a new slate of DC films making their way toward production, I don't think that WB is really going to depend much on Batman.  Green Lantern is getting released in two years and the Flash is getting his script written as we speak.  So there's two franchises right there and you can never forget about Superman, even if WB is clueless on what they want to do with him.  They've seen Marvel's success and the fact that Marvel's going to win the race of first mega-on screen treatment is making WB executives blood boil.

Well. I didn't like Batman Begins. And Christian Bale was annoying as batman. He grunted the whole damn movie. But it is my opinion. I would like another Batman movie as long as Johnny Depp isn't in it like some of the rumours are saying. But it has to be as good as Batman 2.

Damn, you don't like Batman Begins, that's bad enough, but don't tell me you think Batman Returns is great.  That's even worse.

Actually the only batman I really liked was BATMAN. Dark Knight was good but I don't really see it as a batman movie. It was different which is why I liked it

So here it is guys. I used an HD trailer as my medium. You can tell in some spots by the pixels. If you look at the train scene LOL it looks like GL got ahold of it.

Now my process might be a little better on a full out Blu Ray release. It really depends. Using a trailer wasn't necessarily the best idea but I will not download this movie LOL. I am waiting legally to tweak it. Most of the scenes with the skull in the sky when I change the colour it does changes the whole frame. So I couldnt use that.  But I am mostly proud of my results.

I don't like the gimmicky movement of either having a single dominating color like muting colors in films or desaturation any more than i like the artificilially brightened and bumped up ten zillion notches blown out colors in films.

I was watching "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" last night, a film where the director Peter Hunt made a point of showing one or multiple objects with a bold shade of purple in almost every scene. Things like, clothing, wallpaper, flowers... I don't find this practice appealing, or very creative.  It gets rather distracting after only a few scenes.

I prefer films to have colours that are more realistic. Life isn't desaturated or filtered in green and yellow. I actually took a few snapshots from the trailer of HPTHBP and edited it in photshop. Some scenes needed a filter but all of the hogwarts shots I could make them look colourful like HP1. I will post some before and after images soon.

I actually would like to believe that when you construct your first light saber you can have "Any Colour You Like" Pink Floyd FTW. Why cant we have some orange and pink ones in the mix too. After all the saber colour shouldn't have to be symbolic. I think the jedi should say Hey I like this colour. If my favorite colour was purple I would have a purple saber. If you wanted it to be symbolic it could go as follows.

Younglings (white)

Apprentices (Any colour but Blue Green and Red)

Knights (Blue, Green)

Masters (Unlimited Colour Well Except red)

Sith (RED RED RED RED)

Badasses (Purple LOL)

Lets add some more colours yall. Savor the rainbow. Even different hues of each colour.

I know that we are all gonna be in for a ride of our lives. I would be just fine if all the film was just what we saw in the trailer but Ady is doing more than just that. The trailer was neat. It was like going to the theater and seeing the previews for a movie that makes you say IM GONNA SEE THAT.

Yeah that seems to be the craze now a days.

I hated the blue and green tint in the lord of the rings, that was the only thing i hated about the films.

I don't know why they did that. The shire was beautiful.

I also hated the way Indiana Jones Crystal Skull looked with what a green or yellowish grey through the whole film purposely to give it a comic book look.

That bothered me more than anything. If you are going to make a series of films they have to have continuity.

Then you have films with almost no lighting to speak of.

And I hate them too. You have to adjust the brightness in some horror movies to see why people are screaming

And films with lense flares like star trek that ruin a movie and could induce a seizure in certain people.

I was lens flare crazy at one time but Star Treks LOL. It was like they added it in from photoshop

Then you have films with severaly poor audio mixes where the dialogue sound effects and music are all on different volumes and really don't mix together at all and really only the point is to make the films sound louder as if louder was better somehow.

I cant watch a scary movie at night. I sit with my finger on the volume button. Like signs they are whispering for 10 minutes then BOOOOM an alien shows up and busts my sheetrock. I learned to love subtitles after watching movies like that.

Jabba The Hutt was the complete opposite of his character in ROTJ. Jabba The Hutt would have had Boba Fett kill Han for stepping on his tail. Jabba The Hutt looked horrible anyway. And he definitely didn't sound anything like he did in ROTJ. Would it have been that hard to recreate his voice? absolutely not. The scene was pure filler. It was another "Hey kids" George Lucas moment. He said the exact same thing that greedo said. Boba Fett just stares at the camera like "Hey Kids It's me Boba Fett" Every movie and special edition that GL oversees since 97 has those "Hey Kids Look Who It Is" moments. So that addition didn't do anything for the movie. Now the Luke and Biggs scene. It made Biggs more than just a guy that Luke talks about then completely ignores in the battle of yavin. Now Biggs character makes sense. That made it work.

I saw the film earlier today and I quite liked it except one big thing. It was a very yellow film. Is it just me or is every director in hollywood fascinated in making there films a single colour. Now before you go off on Oh he likes harry potter you should know that I read the first book when I was 10 and have been a fan ever since. But come on IT WAS YELLOW. I sense a future fan edit will be in order. If no one does it I might. But it needs colour correction. Come on the first film had brilliant colour. The Prisoner Of Azkaban was blue. But blue isn't such a bad colour. But yellow? Would any body like to elaborate on these films? To me they are each great films but a great film should be more about the mood of the story than the colour LOL.

Adywan are you going to do anything about the sabers. I sound a little whiny but those sabers are killing me.

The cores wil be back to being white but i won't be doing anything about the thickness because that's how they appeared originally

That is all I need. I loved the sabers when I was a little kid on the VHS and later on the SE. The 2004 dvds made me hate the sabers. I dunno why they weren't fixed. They were actually 10 times worse than any release.

I agree with you Boost. To further strengthen your already well said comment. Working on a fan edit is very difficult work. I use the same programs Adywan uses and I will tell you after hours and days of editing frame by frame of a film of that magnitude in After Effects (it is an amazing program) you get tired of it. I nearly stabbed my pc when working with just 9 minutes of film. Ady could have easily given up but he didn't. It was Adywan's vision of the film anyway. Not everybody is going to like one's work. Hell, I hate The Godfather yet it is a classic. For one Ady did and is doing what he set out to do and he as difficult and as hard as it is will continue. I could bitch and moan about the choices he made all I want but Ady didn't make it for me. We are lucky he is even letting us see his work yet he lets us see his progress and he asks us our opinions. Adywan I thank you soo much for your work and I thank you for letting us give you input.

Ady I didn't realize how much work you had done until I started messing with ROTJ. I thought it would be neat to show how much I had learned in rotoscoping lightsabers to tweak the duel in ROTJ. I spent days removing luke's saber from the film and covering up vaders constantly changing saber. I have yet to finish it. I am thinking about just puting my after effects project on rapidshare so somebody can have fun with it. Why didn't GL have them re-rotoscope the sabers in 97 or even 04. God this man is weird. He releases these official dvds and all they look like to me is progress work prints. Finish the damn things man LOL.
