Just a quickie mock-up. I want to show the Ion Cannon as actually being part of the base. The original shot of it just doesn't place it anywhere. So far I've added the power generator in the background. In the mid ground I might add the Rebel trenches, to at least place the cannon in the geography.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you do some mock-ups of the speeder chase please? That would be interesting to see.

I'm gonna upgrade to Photoshop CS4 btw :)

Yeah! that sounds good.I always wanted to do something about that

NO STOP RIGHT THERE! If you want to save your soul dont put Cs4. Cs3 is the best.

Ah cool :)

Oh and thanks for warning me - are there certain bugs in CS4 or something?

I agree with angel. Stick with CS3. I have been using CS3 for quite some time and I haven't found anything that can beat it.

Was Vader unaware that Luke was his son or did he know and want to recruit him from the start?

I am genuinely confused. This seems an important bit of canon, but it is explained very hazily.

The problem with the Star Wars trilogy is that it was not planned out from the beginning, but developed over time with constant recons to provide surprising plot twists ("I AM your father!" "Leia! Leia is my sister!"). In all honestly, the original trilogy pre-SE had its fair share of issues, but I think we were all willing to suspend belief and let them slide.

Since Luke's father and Darth Vader were two different people when the first SW was made, Luke growing up with the Skywalker sirname didn't matter. Had George thought of the whole hiding Luke from his evil father thing while he wrote the first film, I am sure he would have seen fit to change his sirname.

Someone on Tatooine should have remembered Shmi or Anikan. They could have said hey Luke your daddy was an asshole LOL.

Anakin lived in Mos Espa and Luke in Mos Eisley. :)

I live in Tennessee but I know hundreds of people from Kentucky. What's your point?

The special effects in TPM have aged really well (unlike the whole of AOTC and some parts of ROTS, which look like a joke), which is lucky, because bad CG seems to be pretty hard to fix in fan editing. The washed out colours that are making the film age badly seem to be easy enough to fix, though.

Well if the fan editor was a CGI guru then they would have to redo all of AOTC and ROTS because they are almost 95 percent of CGI.

I was looking through net,

from where is the second pic from?

I did not make this but see, the background is correct.

Checked AOTC or ROTS quickly and i didnt find something similar. maybe im wrong.

Hoping to fix the continuity errors in TPM with the blu ray edition.

-Angel

I just hope GL has alot of work (not CGI) done on the films when he releases the Blu Ray editions. It will make fan editing work so much easier.

I'm actually going to talk to a friend of mine, who does film work and would probably have the proper equipment, if he would be interested in helping me write a George Lucas commentary for ANH. I might also try and stick Rick McCallum in there as well from time to time, just to say how amazing all of Lucas's ideas are.

If we do decide to go for it, expect a thread soliciting suggestions in the near future. :P

I can do a spot on GL.

I think those look great. Here is where I need help. I need to figure out how you did that in Photoshop, so that perhaps I can figure out how to duplicate it in AE... You really need to give us a tutorial Vaderios... Great mockups as usual!

Definitely. If I knew how to do half of the magic that Angel did I could do it in AE also. Hell AE has everything that photoshop has. ANGEL TELL BENJA HOW TO DO IT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

ROTS style to TPM faded colors! Inspired from invisible hand interiors

If you think that is too dark consider that the brightness was set into my monitor :)

Damn Angel, I wish you did video too LOL!. It looks beautiful. I couldn't do that in photoshop. How did you fix the bots without making them look melted. Damn good job as usual. Thanks to your mockups I will never watch these films the same again. I'll say "Damn, I wish it looked like angels mockups" LOL

P.S. It doesn't look too dark on my screen. Then again I am on my Laptop with brightness on full.

How do you guys do it?
Time

I have been watching Don Giovanni on youtube and the highest quality is VHS but lets face it VHS only looks good if you are watching it on a 17" tv from about 10 feet away. But I have seen you guys take these crappy looking videos and do something extraordinary. I have Photoshop, After Effects and Vegas. What might I do to make this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK1_vm0FMAU

look at least twice as good. I am not talking badass but at least decent enough for a 30" television on DVD. The audio I can handle myself but the video is just out of my reach. So can you help me? anyone?

(I was told this pic belongs on this thread instead of where I put it...)

This is slightly ahead of itself, but there isn't a Jedi thread and while we're all going full throttle with the matte paintings, here's one I'm working on for Jabba's palace.

I am probably going to put another canyon wall on the left, rather than leaving it as one entirely open plain, and will probably remove the rock feature in the distance. But the right-hand side and sky are pretty close to how I want them.

I have always wondered why there werent any ships outside jabba's palace. Not everybody lives with Jabba and I am sure you would at least see Boba's. The Millenium Falcon could be hidden some where but nonetheless you might could add ships. If we wen't with our Boba Fett badass idea posted a good 20 pages back you could make a shot of the slave 1 flying away.

Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!!! It fits the overall colouring of the OT and the even better thing about it is IT DOESN'T LOOK FAKE (fake like the CGI george lucas' buddies have been making since 97)

Damn DAMN DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the exact idea I had. GOD I DON'T HAVE AN ORIGINAL THOUGHT. Or my thought was a damn good one. Either way I think it would still be a doable movie. Damn they got it even to the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead comparison. I honestly have never heard of Tag and Bink. But it is still a workable thing. Man I thought I was coming on to something good LOL.

I always thought a new movie incorporating the old ones would be cool. It would be like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead compared to Hamlet. I mean come on. The OT has funny moments. I imagine several characters in several scenes of the film totally making a mockery of the main characters. Hell we could have several guys being kicked out of the Tanative IV because they were hitching a ride. Their pod lands on tatooine and they walk for miles to Mos Eisley and end up getting a job at the cantina. The Imperial Storm Troopers are shooting everyone in the cantina so they run out. They are caught by imperial officers so they beat them up and take there clothes. Through a whole mess of mistaken rank and identity they wind up on the Death Star and end up in a jam. Then we could even have them through the whole series. Hell Empire they could work on Hoth and get captured by Boba Fett. But everything the characters do has some direct effect on the story of the Original Films. But it would be really fun and they could have run ins with the main characters all of the time. But it would be alot of work. I would be willing to write a screenplay. But I don't have the finances for something like that.
