Individuals are intelligent, but as soon as you get several individuals into a collection, it turns into an idiotic cancer of society.

Sorry folks, you can bitch and moan all you want, but your bitching only carries so far from the couch.

Live and Let Die

I can understand why most people cringe when Roger Moore's run at Bond is brought up, but I never once thought he was a bad bond. Actually he was an amazing Bond, who just happened to be surrounded by crap a lot of the time.

Live and Let Die suffers from blaxpoitation elements, that plagued early 70's media. Am I old fashioned to where I need to see a mastermind hellbent on world domination? Sure, but I actually don't mind seeing Bond in simple surroundings. It's easy to say I'm more partial to the extravagant Ken Adams sets with the wild array of gadgetry and the like.

To be honest I don't have a problem at all with the story. The film has amazing elements. Baron Samedi is a very entertaining character. Though this film feels more like Smokey and the Bandit at times, than a Bond movie. I feel like Yakety Sax should be playing, instead of the excellent score that we have.

So much went wrong with this film. It's a Fleming novel, and they screwed it up. Roger Moore keeps the film interesting, and you can see he thoroughly enjoys the film.

In the end, it's the "I'm Gonna Git You Sukka" elements that don't fly with me, ya dig.

The reason the minorities go democratic, is because the republicans want to throw em out.

Mexicans are controlled and screwed by the republicans. So when they come to America, they know to avoid that vote.

Bigot: : a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance. Source

I'm talking about those dang Republicans, right?

No.  I'm talking about idiots who make blanket statements like the above quote.  Most Republicans respect all peoples, though liberal politicians would have you believe otherwise.  The conservative viewpoint is not the strawman that liberal politicians and the mainstream media make us out to be.  Sure, there are racist conservatives.  There are also racist liberals.  Sure there are racist whites.  There are also racist blacks.  To attribute everything to one group, i.e. conservatives, whites, men, Christians, as well as liberals, blacks, women, or Muslims is....

*gasp*

BIGOTRY.

Don't be a bigot.  Not even a liberal one.

I was actually making a tongue in cheek statement, but obviously internet is serious business.

I don't think the majority of republicans are bad. I just find it humorous that the republican media paints a picture of liberals that make us seem as though we are all moochers who are trying to get shit for free. It's like your either a working man or a hippie that wants to drag this country to hell.

To be honest I think the republican party was great until it flip flopped with the Reagan years. Back years ago, Republicans were for reform and dedicated to straightening out government. I actually consider myself fairly conservative in my morals and values, but I believe those values are exploited.

Seems like every time you see a Republican run for office, they have to stand in a factory with hard hat and act like they care about the working man. Or they stand in field holding a hay fork.

I'm of the firm belief that the democratic side is just as bad. That's why I'm not really a democrat either.

If by any sense I appear as bigoted and narrow minded, I think it all depends on the perspective. It hurts to see how divided the country is. We all are passionate about this country.

It just seems like when it comes to privileges in this country, some people are moochers and others are entitled.

Sure, there is corruption everywhere, because we aren't well balanced. Seems like we totter more towards capitalism everyday. We should be in the middle of the spectrum. I will not say that Socialism is the way to go, but it's not the Nazi life people paint it to be.

I refuse to be narrow minded, but both sides try to make each other seem that way.

If I seem biased, I didn't intend to be. I just needed to vent after remaining silent whilst living in a sea of red.

I have been hearing that the new Bond movie "Skyfall" is EXCELLENT... by far the best Daniel Craig Bond.

I might have to give it a shot. Daniel Craig hasn't been my cup of tea, I just think Javier looks ridiculous.

OHMSS

Loved this film. It's sad that we didn't get to see Lazenby mature into the role. I think they should've tried him out with another story treatment first off. OHMSS needed a veteran bond.

Sure, I think Connery would've been perfect, but he was tired of Bond, and would've acted like it. Lazenby's acting isn't the most amazing thing ever, but I get sucked into it. He moves the story along.

It's sad that this film doesn't really get an answer in Diamonds. In fact, Diamonds plays as if OHMSS never happened. Blofeld doesn't even want Bond dead like he did in YOLT, so WTF?

I loved Diamonds, but as for continuing the Bond vs Blofeld saga of events, it fails.

Lazenby is not a bad Bond. Actually he's a lot like Roger Moore when Moore isn't in the middle of a shitstorm of camp.

The soundtrack is another highlight. Those pre-Martin early Barry soundtracks are some of the most amazing works ever. I hold them as high as John Williams work.

Bond's theme in this film with that pounding synth, cascading in a sea of brass is a powerful end to an era. For Bond would be heading into the 70's and the music would too.

The film is beautiful, and it get's the eyes misting. If we could've seen a more seasoned performance, it would've made me cry. While I wish Donald Pleasance would've played Blofeld in all the films, Telly Savalas does a job that is excellent.

In the end. Lazenby was pulled in every direction and made bad decisions based on poor advice. The worst advice he got was to leave bond, because it was a dying fad. It must kill him to see that it's still going strong after 50 years.

Any idea what you'll use for the the title song? Is it possible to mix and rearrange the textless title sequences from the UE DVD's together to make a new sequence?

Damn shame they dropped those from the Blu Rays.

I didn't even know NSNA was out of print already, and commanding bloated prices on Ebay. :(

I've got the title song already planned out. My plan is to create an all new title sequence. It won't be easy, but After Effects should help me some.

Excellent. Most excellent. The fan edit bkev mentions definitely is worth checking out for ideas. Blofeld's Cat made his edit like a tribute to the series, using music from each movie.

Personally, I'd love to see Connery act to this theme (yes, I know it's associated with another bond but its classic Barry).

Good luck on this!

You're gonna like this edit then. All the music is going to be from Dr. No to Diamonds are Forever.

This Bond while set in the 80's, isn't going to be an 80's movie. this is Connery Bond. The music will bring it where it belongs.

Have had a Connery James Bond marathon for the past couple of weeks. I'm not going to rate these, because I feel they need no rating.

Dr. No - James has the charm, but he also has that darkness to him in this movie. He has some cold blooded moments in this. Love the cinematography and overall style of this film.

From Russia With Love - This film had one of the most interesting villains played by the always fantastic Robert Shaw. I really love the atmosphere, and the overall look of it.

Goldfinger -Count me in on the long list of people who think this is the best Bond. Everything from the soundtrack, to the car, to the bond girls, to the villain. Auric Goldfinger was such a great villian, shame he didn't pop up more. Blofeld was cool, but I think we got enough appearances of him.

Thunderball - If this movie didn't look so good, I wouldn't like it as much. Yes, it has more over the top moments, and brassier instrumentals, but it drags at times. It's saved by excellent cinematography and Connery's charm.

You Only Live Twice - Back to the good old formula, finally get to see Blofeld. The only thing that I can say negatively about it, is the little moment were they made bond look like "a japanese man". That was pretty bad. The soundtrack was just as good as it's predecessors.

Diamonds Are Forever - Don't care what anybody says, I love it. Sure, it's completely cut out the seriousness for camp. I really think it makes a funny bond. Of course, I am the type that likes elementary level humor, so I can't really be a good judge.

Sad, Never Say Never Again seems to have the best Blu Ray release of the bond movies.

Hmmm....

I'd love to see a Never Say McClory-esque edit in HD of NSNA. That'd be a great experience; for all its shortcomings, I still find NSNA relatively enjoyable.

Yeah, I actually think it's more entertaining than Thunderball,  but Thunderball is a better looking and better sounding film.

You may consider wanting to use an HDTV rip as the source for your edit. It has grain still and the best detail of the available versions of Goldeneye. The only downside is that its the cropped UE version.

Yeah, it sucks, but that might have to do.

Is there any truth to the rumor that non-US releases of OHMSS include the original mono mix but that we've only been left with the 5.1 DTS track?

edit: for that matter, when do we get the singles? I can't justify buying all the movies, but OHMSS remains a must-have for me. And heck, why not Goldfinger too?

There are reports of the BD mono track going into extended periods of muffled audio.

Most Wal Mart and Target stores have theirs out on shelves or displays, you just have to search high and low to find them. Best Buy has no clue whatsoever, and I haven't come across any at all. Supposedly they might not be out until the 23rd. (YOLT, OHMSS, TSWLM) BTW these covers look terrible in your hand. Even just due to the printing which honestly is quite lackluster.

I've always wanted to see the five ex-00s at a round table, drinking and having an honest discussion amongst themselves. No PC, no editing, no pandering to appease the producers, just the honest truth from all five Bonds.

Will it ever happen? No. Connery has refused again to participate in anything 007 related this year, and no ever does anything worthwhile to entice him into even speaking about it.

That's a shame. He'll do a video game voice over for bond, but won't bother with talking about bond.

On a side note, Roger Moore's looking pretty rough.

What is really sad is the fact that I could've been editing all this time I've been waiting for the goldeneye blu ray. Now I've got to scrap using it as a source. So officially all releases of Goldeneye on home video are shit.

I wonder if anybody on here will do Bond the same services Harmy did for Star Wars. Give Bond the closest to theatrical presentation with the highest quality media. I would like to, but I lack the resources, and my job in retail makes time a rare commodity.
