Not to bring up the whole EU thing but each jedi has his own unique fighting style. Lukes fighting style is the same as vaders. I think they get the basics then they use the force to determine what angles to use. It is all through the force. So luke may have learned enough on his own. Plus in Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader wasn't planning on killing luke. He just wanted to turn him to the dark side. In Return of the Jedi he probably had many missions backed up by the EU to learn to fight better. I took basic guitar lessons when I was 12, then I just learned on my own by myself. So luke could have used his basics as a basis for his own style. It is proven by ANH that he had to use the force to interperate his enemy's attacks. So he would not need to be seen training anymore. Obi Wan has taught you well is solidified by this theory. SO why not? It is better for non-uberfans to see the training but we all know the story quite well.
