What is your home theater setup for watching Star Wars movies? (or what equipment would like to get if you could afford it/or dream setup?)
Time

What I have is more like a souped-up living room, rather than a dedicated home theater.

I'm watching on a 50" Panasonic P50G10, connected to a Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-ray player. My sound: Yamaha RX-V663 with Klipsch Quartet 5.1 sound.

Unfortunately, due to my living room layout, I sit about 12 feet from the screen, though sometimes (when the wife's not around) I pull up the sofa to about 6 feet.

Woo! Almost finished downloading the AVCHD.

So I downloaded the nuked one, and is it just that that transfer had something weird going on, or does the 2.0 in general have a very DVNR look to it?

A lot of the details looked very waxy, like there had been a "look like a painting" filter applied to it. I thought maybe it was just some sort of upscaling done on GOUT footage or something like that, but it didn't look like it was GOUT sourced (and wasn't even footage that would have needed to be de-CGIed).

I wonder if you're seeing a side effect of the black crush that the Blu-ray source suffers from.

Thanks guys :-)

At the current speed, the rendering of the AVCHD should be done tomorrow morning and since I'm back at school (I just finished my undergraduate program and am continuing to postgrad) the upload should be superfast as well, so if everything goes well, the AVCHD should be available on uloz.to sometime tomorrow. I guess it will get reuploaded to other places soon after.

Man, I can't wait for the AVCHD. But I'm seriously thinking about getting a BD burner since the BD version sounds like it will have some awesome extras and audio tracks.

Belated congrats on your finals!

I've got both the DVD5 and MKV versions, but have only burned the DVD5 copy (which looks great btw). My question is ... with only having a DVD burner, can I do anything with the MKV to shrink it down to a DVD9? I've got programs like Freemake that will accept MKVs and burn them to a DVD, but I'm afraid that the compression might be too much. Need some help from the experts.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here.

Do you have a media player that can play MKV files from a DVD9? Do you have a Blu-ray player?

Are you hoping to downconvert the MKV to the DVD format, gaining a slight edge in picture quality over the DVD5?

What I was however planning to do was make a little documentary for the BD, explaining what the DeEd is and maybe upload that to YouTube when it's done. It would explain the most important parts of the OOT issue and how the general public is being deceived and misled into either not even knowing there was any earlier version of it or at least thinking the original versions had cardboard cut out spaceships and stuff and how the DeEd can be used to educate people about this issue ;-) Covering my ass a little there but at the same time I believe that it is true.

I'm not sure it would be a good idea to put that on youtube. It might be seen as essentially a commercial for DeEd 2.0, and LFL does not take kindly to people "promoting" their unauthorized works.

But just to be clear, the documentary itself sounds awesome, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but is the included mono mix the one from The Mono Mix Restoration Project?

Unless something changed, I believe Harmy used the mix from that project, as created by Belbucus several years ago. Negative1 has been posting some tidbits in that thread about a new lead on the mono mix, but that's not done yet.
