Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years
Time

I think Doug Chiang, the concept artist for Episodes I and II, had a huge impact on the design aesthetic of those movies (and the fact that they don't have a very OT look). In Episode III, you see a lot more designs that are reminiscent of the OT.

The bottom line is, anyone who cares to create a visual bridge to the OT can easily do so without GL. The artists at Dark Horse do it all the time.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

So I was channel surfing when I stumbled on that new Lego Star Wars special they were hyping not that long ago. Lots of....odd things going on but something pretty interesting happened.

There was a moment where Han was caught off guard by a Stormtrooper and Han shoots him right on the spot. This prompts Threepio (played by Anthony Daniels) to run up and shout, "Han shot first!" To which Solo replies, "Of course I did. It was a matter of either him or me, why wouldn't I?" And Threepio replies something to the effect of, "That's a matter of some great contention."

I caught this show and loved it. It's filled with moments that make fun of the prequels and stupid SE additions.

They need to make this a TV show. Seriously. It would be tons better than the stupid-looking Star Wars Detours.

PROMETHEUS was (Alien 0?) NOW NO LONGER SPOILER FREE.

Prometheus is not an Alien prequel. It's not the same type of film, and there is pretty scant evidence outside of Weyland to even suggest it is in the same universe, so if you like Alien you won't necessarily like this.

I have to disagree. It's obviously an Alien prequel: set design, Weyland, the ring ship, the engineer climbing into the navigation chair seen in Alien. They all obviously point to this being a prequel.

Judged as a prequel (and without the benefit of any questions that may get answered in Prometheus 2), I think most will agree that it failed.

But as a standalone movie, it was pretty good.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Awesome comparisons, Harmy. There were some new fixes I wasn't aware of!

I had a few comments, in addition to Stinky-Dinkins' awesome review:

20.51.41, 20.51.54 (LFL logo and ALTA) - Descriptions do not match slides.

20.52.30 - aliazing -> aliasing

21.11.31 - Right image for non-BD shots? They're transparent instead of the regular blank starfields.

No mention of removed Jabba.

12.55.53 - uisng -> using

12.57.56, 12.58.15, 13.00.04, 13.00.27, 13.03.18, 13.03.29 - DeEd 1.0 shots seem out of sync with the other 3 sources.

13.11.24 - Shouldn't the shots from GOUT and DeEd 1.0 be there?

13.15.16 - DeEd 1.0 frame seems out of sync

13.26.47 - Stinky-Dinkins offered a good rewrite of the sentence, but you could probably get away with just adding a comma after "Falcon".

And also...

And yes, the video version will be a BD extra. It's over 20 minutes long though...

"Video version"? Will this be a gallery of moving clips, or just stills that automatically refresh?

Despecialized: Crossing the Velvet Rope, or Petr Gets Pegged (speculation thread)
Time

I've got to admit, I'm baffled by Simon Pegg's relationship with LFL. He's been very critical of the SEs and Prequels. Yet he was invited to do voice work for the Clone Wars.

I personally think Lucasfilm will say nothing and do nothing, either from a genuine belief that it has no significant impact on them, or for fear of drawing more attention to it.

My thoughts exactly. The only action they might take would be a C&D.
