Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)

It's definitely true that they butchered the music in the film (hacked it up, dialed the volume down too low, etc.), but the music wasn't up to OT quality to begin with. This was probably partly George Lucas' fault in his direction of Williams (or lack thereof). But come on- we have two of the most climactic sequences in the movie, the arena battle and the lightsaber fight. Instead of getting brilliant, exciting action music and soaring melodies played by the LSO, we get a guy on a drumset. Give me a break.

Trooperman,

This quote has convinced me that you MUST do a commentary.

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)

The trailer is VERY slick and professional. Nice job!

I'm very insterested in the way you're pairing only one prequel with only one episode from the OT. I see how ROTS and ROTJ go well together, but I'm wondering how ESB and AOTC will blend. And then ANH with TPM is really bending my mind. How do you mix such a great movie with such a piece of crap? Oh, that will be a challenge (but I'm sure you'll do a great job).

Without giving away any secrets, do you plan to strictly stick to this one-to-one pairing?

** The OCPMovie News & Releases Megathread **
Time
ocpmovie,

I'm so glad to hear you're doing a Classic Edition 2.0. It was just on a whim that I popped into the non-SW forum today, and when I saw this thread, I figured I'd see what you you were up to lately.

If there's anyone with the experience to combine the 2004 DVDs and the GOUT, it's you. Why haven't you announced this in the SW preservation forum?

You mentioned that you're fixing the hallway in the detention block shootout. I understand your purist tendencies, but I think this is one of those very minor changes that you should keep. To me it's equivalent to fixing matte lines.

And are you still going the same route with the '93/mono soundtrack? I'm sure you're aware of Belbucus' ongoing restoration of the mono mix, but I don't know if you want to wait for that. Would you ever consider using the '97 mix as your base soundtrack? Lately I've heard several people around here say that the '97 mix was a "recreation" of sorts of the original mono mix, using many of the same elements.

Take out Dooku's flip off the balcony before he fights the Jedi. Instead, have footsteps on a metallic staircase in the background while Anakin and Kenobi talk in front of Palpatine.

During the final duel between Kenobi and Anakin, remove:
-Obi Wan's CGI flip when kicked by Anakin
-All of the conversation between them while they fight on the floating things, with the exception of "this is the end, my master" or whatever the line is
-as much pointless riding around on the floating things as possible

I believe you are referring to darkhelmet's Episode III edit (which it seems was never completed):
http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=9&threadid=5159

However, the clip you are referring to, named jedi_confront_palpatine.wmv, was actually posted on page 42 of Trooperman's SOTDS thread:

Does anyone know if darkhelmet is still doing this?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Adywan,

Your latest clip is very impressive. I've got some comments:

Tantive IV is looking nice. Great colors. The blinking lights on Vader's chest are subtle yet awesome!

When the escape pod is launched, can you add a slight spin to it? It spins in all the other shots.

Some have complained about the shot with the twin suns as the pod heads toward the planet and enters the atmosphere. I have absolutely no problem with anything in this shot.

I agree with others that the added rocky landscape for R2 is a bit much. If you can maybe remove just that stupid TPM "bridge/eye of the needle" structure, I think you'll be in business.

Flipped footage of 3PO: I never had a problem with the flipped footage in the first place. Now that you've flipped it back the right way, I suggest you flip the following shot with 3PO next to the Krayt dragon bones to maintain consistency in direction. However, this will require a new wipe to the canyon scene.

"Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game" a Galactus & MoveAlong Production
Time
I just had a chance to watch this, and I must say I was very impressed. The technical aspect of the disk was the most impressive part. The menus are professional, and the easter eggs were amusing.

While it's true that the cutscenes do not tell a complete story, that didn't detract from my enjoyment. The cutscenes themselves look amazing. If this is the animation style that will be used in the upcoming Clone Wars TV series, sign me up!

BTW, I liked Zam's character a lot more in this game than in Episode II

If you really want the full story, it looks like there are a series of movie files in the DVD-ROM content that show cutscenes AND gameplay (though I haven't watched them all, or even made a dent in the DVD-ROM material).

Thanks to Galactus and MoveAlong for a great disc!

I agree with Karyudo.

Boris may throw out the occasional statement that isn't worded as well as it could be. But I personally believe that anything worthwhile should be able to stand up to criticism. If someone questions the validity of the X0 project, the response should be to address those concerns, not ban the guy.
