Return of the Jedi - The Spence Final Cut (Released)
Time

Hey, Spence. You have a lot of really good ideas here. Count me interested.

The Sail Barge clip is nicely done and pretty seamless.  It would be nice if you could put Han's "Trust Me" line back in.

The new ending is different, but it works, even though I'm not a big fan of the view across the worlds. Ending with the funeral pyre gives the film a nice somber note.

Or the scenes from that ben burrt documentary redone from a new hope in imax by ILM, done in 70mm using a special camera by Dennis Muren.

I would love to see the whole thing again but i'm starting to think it'll never be played again!

There was a Real Audio file of the Tatoonie flyover floating around a few years ago. Terrible quality though.

Return of the Jedi: Dan Edit - Clips Online (Released)
Time

That's a good crawl. It could use a few more commas and apostrophes like this:

Relentless in their pursuit of the freedom fighters, the Imperial Starfleet led by DARTH VADER has driven the Alliance to the fringes of the galaxy.

Anticipating the Rebels' every move, the EMPEROR has prepared for them a final defeat by ordering the construction of a terror weapon more destructive than the first dreaded Death Star.

Unaware of the sinister plots laid against him, Luke Skywalker has returned to Dagobah to complete his training as a JEDI KNIGHT and to prepare to rescue Han Solo from the vile gangster Jabba The Hutt...

Thanks.

Btw. Erik, what do you mean "With a little rotoscoping, they might turn out really great."? Rotoscoping is the way I did it.

That was a poor choice of words on my part. What I really meant was more like "manual cleanup". There were few parts from the GOUT that looked globbey and splotchy, from where you erased the ronto in the driveby. But looks like you might have taken care of it in the latest clip.

Harmy,

The new clip is promising as a test, but I don't know if it would work in the movie - without being distracting. I know you said it was quick and dirty, but one thing that really stands out is the floating grey blob in the sky where the ship used to be.

For this scene, I think it would preferable to go with the GOUT for the entirety, unless you were able to somehow spilt the shot into 2 and avoid the ronto altogether.

RETURN OF THE JEDI 1983 THEATRICAL VERSION RECONSTRUCTION DVD by Harmy (MKV, NTSC DVD5 AND PAL DVD9 AVAILABLE)

I'll have yet to see about that when I finish the PAL DVD9 and then I'll decide. But unless there's an overwhelming demand for it (which in terms of this edit seems to be 3 and more people ;-D ) I probably won't do it. There will also probably be no PAL DVD5 either.

I was kinda hoping for hairy hen's latest 5.1 mix. Will it sync if I do it myself?
