Put the arrival of the civilian fleet after Palpatine shocks the Resistance, allowing Rey’s lowest point and Poe’s lowest point to coincide so that the tone doesn’t flip-flop as much. Because most of the shots include ships that haven’t arrived yet, I changed it so that Palpatine only electrocutes the Tantive IV. I also added music from Revenge of the Sith and Jonh’s ghosts.

You’ve mentioned exploding heads on this thread before. Did that happen in one of the special editions and I just forgot about it?

More than that, I think it’s that a lot of people have a hard time believing Finn would use his potential last words just to reveal he’s force-sensitive.

Fun Fact: for the documentary “I Am Your Father” about David Prowse’s career, they reshot the unmasking scene with Prowse as Anakin; but Disney wouldn’t let them release it to the public, so only the documentary crew (as well as Prowse himself) have access to it.

If I had to choose one planet from the expanded universe, I’d say Nevarro.

That way one has representation for all trilogies and the spin-offs, including planets that are significant to the heroes in some way (Corellia, Kashyyyk), or that were seen placed under a nasty First Order regime (Kijimi), making the montage have more of a catharsis feel rather than adding planets for the sake of it.

I’ve also been interested in repurposing the shot of the broom kid. I actually briefly tried to mask out clips from Rey’s visit to Tatooine to create a scene of her visiting the Broom kid (presumably buying his freedom) but there wasn’t enough footage and also I’m not that good at masking.

You might be right on the term, I’m an amateur too and only added in scenes already made. What app do you use for me to try it out?

I’ve been using Final Cut Pro, though Premiere has it too.

In Poe’s and Finn’s speech to the Resistance before the final battle, but I would have had Rose say the final line about “taking the war to them.” Because if even Rose is in favor of fighting, you know some s***'s gonna go down.

In Luke’s vision on Hoth, have Obi-Wan refer to Yoda as “The Jedi Master who instructed the Jedi Master who instructed the Jedi Master who instructed me” to better match the prequels.

I’m not sure if it was on this thread, but I made a proof-of-concept for one of my previous suggestions, editing the Resistance meeting scene to allow Threepio to extend his line about Exegol for better context.

As a bonus, it means removing the shot of Rey with the Lightsaber still on her belt.

The main problem I have had with this film is how long it takes for me to get my footing when I watch it. What is there right now makes that feeling worse. It is just soooo quick, with no room to breathe.

I need to think more about how that can be improved, but rearranging the scenes breaks the logic of the film. Since there can’t be a spy in the FO to tell them anything until Kylo knows… trying to move the Rey training scene up works with logically, but thematically it is a weird scene to start on…

Honestly, if I knew how to extract and/or replace all the sound effects, I would probably have made an entire cut of the series with pop songs as the soundtrack by now, just to see if I could.

On that note, I’m actually thinking about making an edit that removes all references to the Phantom Menace, so that the trilogy will be Attack of the Clones, Tartakovsky Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith.

The Phantom Menace Soundtrack: Ultimate Edition has a lot of instances of voices subtly whispering the words to “Duel of the fates.”
Specifically, the track “Qui-Gon’s Death / Surrender of the Gungans” has a really cool moment where a lot of whispers overlap.

On the topic of connecting TPM to AOTC, maybe try replacing the name “Syfo Dias” with Qui-Gon, since they’re both friends of Dooku and both died around the same time.

Has anyone tried replacing the Luke & Leia theme at the end with Lando’s theme? It would make more sense and I don’t think it appears anywhere else in the movie.

…Doesn’t Finn’s recruitment of and connection to Company 77 straight up save the galaxy? Without them, they wouldn’t have been able to disable the Steadfast, and the fleet would have been able to make it clear of the planet’s atmosphere.

That’s a good point, and I certainly wouldn’t remove that part. But would you rather have a scene of Finn reacting to Rey’s death and resurrection, or a scene of him making a compassionate decision based on his past experiences?

I really like that idea, but I think It’d fit better over one of the quieter shots when Rey is first entering the temple.

This sounds interesting actually, are there cinematically of FO transports leaving Exegol?

Unfortunately, Exegol isn’t a map in the game. However, there are shots from Jakku, Crait, and Ajan Kloss that could be color-corrected to look like Exegol.

I think that was true even before Disney. Lucas was involved in TCW, sure, but before the prequels he told EU writers never to go into detail about the Clone Wars or the Mandalorians because he didn’t want to have to worry about interfering with canon when the time came for him to make more movies.

Added Across the Stars to the ending celebration scene in place of Yoda’s Theme. Hopefully this makes Poe and Finn’s embrace seem more romantic.

I like the idea, but I think Lando’s scene is actually the first time Ochi is mentioned by name, so you’d have to find a way to insert a mention of him into earlier in the movie. Also, Lando’s scene is the source of the film’s only “I have bad feeling about this” so you would have to add one of those somewhere else too.

I want to remind some neat idea of simple restructuring to make beggining of the film feel smoother and calmer. We can have Rey training scene following the Senate and Kylo conversation when they mention her, then after Falcon is mentioned we witnes this mission. This way, I think, movie flows more natural and has logical starting point, as in ANH where we follow droids to learn another pieces of a story.

It should also give more freedom to opening crawl cos both Rey and Falcon mission will be mentioned in the movie right before we see them. It should work regardless of shortening Falcon scene, restructuring Kylo vision, Palpatine lines or finding a wayfinder.
