Watching the prequels, ive realised how easily would be to edit out the whole "forbidden love" plot from Episode III. Mainly because there are more scenes where people perfectly know that this is going on and dont care than scenes in wich this matters.
The only problem is that it will make Anakin's story through Episode II much shorter, but i guess you can include Padme's family for character development.
Things that will improve if you did this:

_You get rid of many crappy dialogue

_Is less unbelieable for Padme to fall for Anakin after he acts like an idiot or kills people. Its stupid, but if she was already his girlfriend while all that things happens, she will be more inclined to support him and go around with him. Just leave the Love as a classic guy meets girl and they fall for each other almost a day before meeting from almost every single fairy tale. The thing is, if you dont question that love in the movie, you dont question why would they fall in love.

_Scenes like the waterfall scene, or Padme going to Tatooine, arent as forced as they are now, they are just development of a young couple.

_Obi Wan will know about this, and will be OK with this. Wich will help in scenes that he would obviously know this, like everytime Anakin talks about Padme or in the "What would Padme do in your position?" scene.

Have you realsied how NOBODY cares about their marriage? Obi Wan obviously knows through all the story, Anakin tells Yoda he is worried about loosing someone he loves, the council dosnt care to send the two alone to Naboo, and then again after the clone wars start, and ANYONE can see that Padme is pregnant. Seems like the only ones that mention this or care about this are Padme and Anakin.

You can fall in love, you can get married, you can have kids, you simply must accept that when they die you have to let them go.

Yeah, when I watched the PT recently I thought that was kind of funny. If any of you watch the Office, it reminded me of the Dwight and Angela relationship that the two kept secret for absolutely no reason.

But he isn't even a near Master, even if you added a year or so onto his training by moving Yoda's death to the beginning of ROTJ he has still had a crash course to becoming a near Knight.

True, I missed that Monroville said that, although the argument still remains. If Luke could pull a lightsaber with no formal training, I think he can push a button with minimal training.

Keep in mind Vader doesn't throw anything at the carbonite control lever when Luke falls into the carbonite pit (so if Vader is shown flipping a switch with the force, can't Luke do it after a few years of practice?).

I could see deleting the rock/skull/whatever, show Luke pointing at the door with a nice "green to red" or just set of light switches to indicate it's closing, and then show the door closing at an increased rate of speed (slow at first, then speeding up and slamming down on the Rancor's head).  Even implying Luke is not even activating the switch, but using the force to bring the door down would add to Luke's cred as a near-master.

My thoughts exactly.

someone not so long ago suggested cutting the obi-wan/vader duel from ANH, so we just see the beginning and the climax. a fair point if we consider that in a I-VI running order, duels may at this point become somewhat tiresome.

this got me thinking, has anyone ever considered completely cutting the palp/windu duel out in the same fashion? we see them exchange words, then we follow anakin rushing to the scene, then enstead of expecting a civilised arrest going on, the entire suete has been trashed and there is a jedi about to assassinate the chancellor. could create some much needed empathy to anakin and some ambiguity to the events. and would eliminate the whole lightsabre too.

some additional still shots could be inserted of the other jedi dead in various places with smoke rising from them, later suggeting they were just zapped to death.

I had a similar thought not too long ago. I think having the scene focus only on Anakin would create much more suspense.

And which one is the worst? *runs for cover*

Not the worst per se, but I never liked the vocal backing to the celebration at the end of TPM. Other than that I can't think of anything. Except Jedi Rocks.

The chorus is a little weird there... but it is the Emperor's Theme in a different key/octave/tempo, so that's pretty cool.

Also, what about Lapti Nek? Better than Jedi Rocks, but...

Oh my God! It is! I never knew that. As for Lapti Nek, I guess it sucks, I just kind of like it. Probably nostalgia getting in the way.

We still talking about kenkraly?

Guy is either a troll, a child, or a mentally disturbed individual. Just read his posts - incoherent, repetitive, and unsubstantial.

He told everyone about an email from LFL saying all color issues were corrected. Nobody else received such an email. I called him out back then and later again when the images/videos began to leak.

Ignore him.

Georgec I am not all those things you just called me so why don't you just take back everything you said.

I like how you said that you're "not all those things."

I actually thought they were worth getting. Sure it doesn't amount up to the majority of the fan edits around here, but still i think its worth it. My opinion of course.

I do think the sound in some of the dvd's, (Not ROTS) was better and i thought the picture was better in them too. Still not a big improvement. The thing that irritates me is that the ESB still has the blue freakin' tint in it.

So, not a big improvement but better.

Agreed!

Unlike most people though, I realized while watching ESB on Blu Ray last night that I actually prefer its blue tint.

IV, II, V, III, VI always works quite well.

If you wanted to take it a step further you could easily divide each film into either 2 or 3 segments, and mix them up even further. Here is a running order I outlined ages ago for a personal project

THE STAR WARS

part i    -    The Wind that Shakes the Stars

opens with a screaming body burning on the molten shores of mustafar. (a scene which haunts the entire series). Followed by obiwan bringing a baby to the homestead. *TITLE*

Removal of original opening of ANH, film starts from luke and we only follow his story. ends when luke leaves Tatooine on the Millennium Falcon

part ii    -    An Age of Heroes

Abridged AOTC to follow a more heroic anakin and obiwan.

part iii    -    A New Hope

Follows leia from beginning, until Millennium Falcon is captured. Rest of the film. throne room possibly cut.

part iv    -    The Empire Strikes Back

Film up until luke is on dagobah and han is in the asteroid.

part v    -    Shadow of the Black Knight

ROTS up until palpatine's revelation

part vi    -    The Dark Victory?

Second half of ESB. end scene of the fleet possibly cut.

part vii    -    The Secret Apprentice

very abridged TPM foucusing on anakin and qui-gon, examining possible routes of evil. ends in council chamber where anakin makes his choice to save palpatine.

part viii    -

ROTS from anakins turn onwards, ending with him burning (a possible scene which is repeated throughout all the films)

part ix    -    The Last of the Jedi

First half of ROTJ. ends with the tyderium leaving hangar

part x    -    The Return of the Jedi

Second half of ROTJ, opens with emperors arrival, ending with luke cremating vader.

Can this be fan edited right now? Possibly as a miniseries? Yes? Honestly, this needs to be done.

I can NEVER understand why some people give us a hard time for liking the Revisited projects but disliking the Special Editions.  They are two utterly different things.

Ady isn't the one suppressing the originals, and if I'm not mistaken he actually made an Empire theatrical reconstruction.

Sheesh.

Uh, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. If i didn't like Revisited i wouldn't be here eagerly awaiting the relase of ESB:R. And yes, i do like the SE of the OT.

Maybe it was because i was 7 yrs old when they came out or something, but i thought they were a huge improvement over the OOT.

Interesting. When I first saw the SE trilogy I was about 6, and all I could think was how unnecessary it was. I actually really hated it, which is odd because now I love the idea of SEs, I just don't think they've been done properly (Until now, of course. Looking forward to ESB:R Ady!)

As raw footage they are just curios but if placed inside reworked scenes with different pacing they could be a really useful resource to fan-editors etc.

They deserve a clean up at the very least (as far as that is possible) so plenty of potential work for the creative arms of the community.

Ye, I understand this point. I just don't like fan edits from an ethical point of view.

Kind of odd first of all that your name is "theprequelsrule", and that second of all, your on the the forum for fans of Star Wars that are also (for the most part) really into fan edits.

I am here to support the petition for a high quality release of the OOT. I would be happy with a standard-def DVD, in 16:9. That is all you need to be here.

I mean, I guess so. Its just a little odd.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

About these Blu-rays: I'm literally watching Episode II as I post this and I do have to say the teal shift makes it seem less cartoony. But the real reason I 'm posting this is because I noticed that during Anakin's dream, there is now audio of his mother crying his name (in a distressed way). I just thought this was odd since its a change that I didn't even hear about. It's actually a good change in my opinion because, well, that dream was a little weird before. It makes me wonder though, are there more audio changes that people have found? If most people missed this one than surely there's more. Anyone know?

Just like Lucas couldn't/wouldn't secure rights to Flash Gordon, we need an exciting new franchise to get behind (and it won't be from Cameron either). I'm optimistic that can happen, but I think it will be "underground" global phenomena rather than overground corporate shilled-to-death. The Matrix came close IMO, but no cigar.

I don't think I agree with you about Cameron.

Think of it this way: Sci-fi epic is released, becomes a must see event by pushing visual effects to the next level, and it ends up being the highest grossing film of all time. Critical reception is mostly positive, it is nominated for many Oscars including Best Picture which it loses, but many people don't believe in the hype. Granted, the film builds much of its content from pre-existing properties.

Now stop. What film have I described? Star Wars. I know many dislike Avatar, but Star Wars wasn't a sacred cow when it was released either. Now I'm sure most of you discovered Star Wars when you were kids right? Well I doubt you could find a kid that has seen Avatar and didn't like it. Also, Avatar 2 and 3 haven't even come out yet. So we should wait before we pass too much judgement.

As a side note, I think everyone should be looking forward to Avatar 2. If you've seen Aliens, Terminator 2, or, hell the Empire Strikes Back, you should know what kind of movie we'll get.
