One thing that'd be great to show on that would be a picture of the 2006 DVDs - something like opening it up, showing the 2nd disc thrown in there, then played on a widescreen to illustrate how sad it is that it's the only official release of the originals, in original form. I mean, yes, I'm glad to own them, but it's sad that they're only really barely worth watching on a CRT, which you can't even really buy anywhere anymore.

That's a great idea. Actually, my BD player doesn't even allow for the GOUT to be zoomed in, when I press the full screen button, it simply stretches it out and it doesn't zoom it, so the only way to watch it on my BD player is with black bars on all sides.

It's sad, but yeah. Star Wars and Empire are my favorite films of all time, but I've only truly watched them on VHS. The highest quality I've seen is the 2011 BDs which are heavily vandalized.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

I actually totally understand where the TFNers are coming from on this front. When looked at as a six film saga, yeah, it's more or less about Anakin. The focus shifts more to Luke in the OT but I can see where they might be coming from, Luke's story is an essential compliment to Anakin's.

What they're failing to see is that the Star Wars films could be looked at as a saga of something else. PT is about Anakin. OT is about Luke. ST will (hopefully) be about his son. Taken as a whole, these films could be (and hopefully will be) seen as a trilogy of trilogies about the Skywalkers and the galaxy they inhabit. Through this context, the ST is a natural extension of the saga. PT and OT aren't volume 1. PT is volume 1. OT is volume 2. ST is volume 3. And they all make up one large story. That's how I look (or will look) at it anyway, if all goes well.

Escape from Tomorrow (2013) 8.5/10 - The satirical, psychological horror film shot illegally in Disney World. Seriously awesome. Amazing what they were able to accomplish. It's quite well done, entertaining, funny, and pretty gross. Also fairly brilliant. Highly recommended. But it's not for everyone. Don't see it if you don't like complex art films. Or gross out moments. Still, though. Very good.

I'm watching too many movies to effectively give reviews, but lately I've seen:

Sunset Blvd. (The narration was well used. Haven't seen any narration that was so effective yet on IMDB quest.)

I highly reccomend watching all of the first 18 or so of Gene Wilder's films. It's probably the longest "purple patch" any director has ever had. My favourites are either 'Sunset Blvd' or 'The Lost Weekend' if I want drama and 'The Seven Year Itch' if I want comedy (Marilyn Monroe is eye-meltingly stunning in the later!)

Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity is great too.

*I've changed the way I rate movies. I've decided to abandon rating films based soley on how much I like them; now I'm going to take the overall technical quality of the films into account as well. So in other worlds, my final ten-star rating is actually two five-star ratings combined - one for how much I enjoyed the actual movie, the other for how well I feel the movie was made.

I like it.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Well I think Vader sensed the force and decided not to tell the Emperor about that fact, so as to not jeopardize possible plans to team up against the Emperor.

Without the crucial knowledge that Luke is strong with the force the Emperor would have no need to tell Vader that he would be a great asset if he was on their side.

I must admit I have not seen Troll Hunter, though I really want to. So I can't compare.

As for the found footage aspect, Goldthwait mentioned that he tried to make it as seem as real as possible, with minimal edits (there's this awesome single take that lasts 19 minutes); so as to make it look like the footage was actually just found (he made a joke about the fictional finders of those other found footage films think, "hey, if I edited this footage of people getting raped and killed it would make a great movie"). Anyway, it works.

And it's not so much a monster movie as a mockumentary that goes wrong.

ROTJ is the best Star Wars film... discuss!

It would also have kept ESB's reveals secret.

I know that's not important to some people but the PT weren't actually sold as 'prequels' but earlier episodes.

I've been vocal about my disagreement with this line of thinking. I've been ignoring these types of comments because, honestly, people aren't going to change their minds. But I just don't see how that statement is true.

Granted, I was born only a few years before TPM was released, so I'm not aware of what sort of things were being said about the prequels during that 16 year gap. What I do know is that each PT film was advertised using as much Vader imagery as possible, i.e. they were sold as prequels. I remember that awesome poster of Anakin with Vader as his shadow; and I'm sure you all do too, it's probably the thing that got your excitement up most. What that ad promised was a prequel. A prequel trilogy was promised to us. Call me crazy, but I thought the whole reason we wanted to see those movies was to find out what happened before. I don't know about you guys, but the prospect of finding out how Anakin became Darth Vader was the single most exciting aspect of those upcoming prequels. People have said on here that ROTS was a fan wank because they showed Anakin turn to the dark side and don the suit. In my mind, it would have been a fan wank if we didn't see that happen.

But I digress. Where are we? "ROTJ is the best Star Wars film"? What? You guys are crazy, I'm out of here.

Willow Creek (2013) 8/10 - Bobcat Goldthwait's new film that he just screened at my school. I didn't know what to expect, but I found it was very funny, original, and surprisingly suspenseful. It was kind of like Paranormal Activity, but with Bigfoot, and better in every imaginable way. There was a Q&A afterwards. I asked him why he wanted to make this movie. I guess he's always been interested in Bigfoot, and with this he wanted to see if he could make a suspenseful film in the vein of, say Tarantino, where nothing is really happening, but you're on the edge of your seat. I think he succeeded. I shook his hand after and told him he did a great job. All in all it was a really cool experience and I hope the film ends up with a good distribution.
