I'm indifferent to the threads about things people hate.
But I hate this thread.

How about the Obi-Wan film from the OP, but with a twist: he's one of two leads.
The film starts with Obi-Wan Ben explaining to a reluctant Owen that he must take care of Luke. Flash-foward a bit (ten years) and we get to see Luke meet Ben for the first time. He comes back home late, and Owen chastises him. Rebellious Luke decides to stay out late again, and as he comes home he is kidnapped by sand people. Owen finds out and goes to Ben for help. They set out on a quest through the dunes and caverns of Tatooine, building an understanding of each other along the way.
Once they get to the camp Luke's held at, Ben goes for peaceful methods while Owen engages in bare-knuckled Tusken beat downs. Luke is saved, and Ben and Owen have one final discussion before they part. Ben says one day he will need to teach Luke the ways of the force. Owen vehemently disagrees. He says he knows what happened to his step brother, and that it will never happen to Luke. Ben ignores the comment, says "May the Force be with you," and starts off. Owen takes Luke by the hand. Ben and Owen walk into the sunsets, heading in different directions.
Would be a great vehicle for Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton. Also Owen's fists would finally get the respect they deserve.

2 ) Rebel briefing scene where Lando announces to Han that that he's a general. Lots of improvised banter between Ford and Williams before they go through the actual dialogue from the script.
What.
God I hope this is in high quality/possible to be ripped.
I hate that I can't think of something funny to post in this thread.

I feel like a more concise version of the OP would have read "almost everything and everyone."
Perhaps. But if I went that route, I'd never be able to create one big wall of text, now, would I?
Fair enough.

Finished reading. Great work, everyone. I just wish Chaz was here to see this.
And only because google wants to advertise their own pages first.
what's in your google search bar right now
darth ender has a link in his signature to the ROTJ Collaborative Edit thread, which is a wealth of ideas. I would post my thoughts on how ROTJ should be here but I feel as if I've said enough about it there.

Regarding the whole "explanation of the force in the PT and the OT," I don't see how Qui-Gon's midichlorian story to Anakin in TPM contradicts Yoda's talk to Luke in ESB. Qui-Gon simply said "without the midichlorians, life could not exist and we would have no knowledge of the force," meaning they are the conduit through which the force connects with the living world
Quoted for truth.
Except that Had Abbadon is one big city and Endor is one big forest.

ah shit, another toon?! There's NO reason why Disney cant make a live action episode featuring events that happened b/ eps3-4.
Money.
Oh my god this is outstanding. I'm only six pages into this thread and I think I'm going to space it out, really savor it. This is some of the funniest stuff I've seen on the internet for sure.
I first tried 2001 when I was 8, I think. Didn't get it, kept falling asleep. I considered it overrated and boring until I saw it again at 15 or 16. Since then it has been one of my all time favorite films. Kubrick's best, in my opinion.
^That's actually a cool idea. I don't know about the ST, but maybe the spin-offs or a TV show. "The Adventures of Jaxxon Across the Galaxy Far, Far Away." I'd watch that.
For Disney: Pleasing the larger audience who hasn't read EU books by making an original story with ties to only the films > displeasing the smaller audience who has read the EU books and who will see the movie no matter what.
It makes sense for them, and it makes sense for me. I've always enjoyed reading up on EU history, but I've never taken it as fact. When I'm watching the movies I only think about what the movies show as canon. I'd much prefer a sequel trilogy with no constraints whatsoever than one with. We already had a trilogy that was trapped in terms of story and originality. It'll be fantastic to have some truly NEW Star Wars movies. That's what I'm most excited for.

Everything about Padme's death in childbirth stinks up the OT.
Not only does it contradict Leia in ROTJ and paint Padme as a selfish mother, it breaks the secret of the twins and it names them while Padme blurts out the big reveal for ESB.
Having Padme trust Obi-Wan with Luke mirrors Shmoo trusting Qui-Gon with Anakin.
Luke is meant to be the Anakin's journey completed so it makes sense his story mirrors his father in the beginning if it's going to almost dovetail at the end.
ESB reveal is a whole other argument. Besides, Padme dying is not contingent on her naming the twins. That could be easily cut. So could "not having the will to live."
The connection to Shmi is interesting but we saw even her die and she was much less off a major character.
See I always felt like all of a sudden Luke and Leia have already known that she was adopted and her real mother lived with her for the first few years of her life. Which seems weird and awkward and confusing to me. Sure there are explanations that one could come up with for why they knew, but I just don't feel like it jives with the OT story telling.
Also, I get that Obi and co. would want to split up the two babies, but why would their mother?
Additionally, if these films are meant to be watched in chronological order, wouldn't it be weird to see Padme alive at the end of III and then never see or hear about her again until VI when we learn she died offscreen?
And the final reason: I get that people don't want to make the PT match the OT rather than vice versa. The OT's better, I get that, I agree. But if ROTJ is so much better than ROTS, why would you take out one of the most well executed plot elements ("will to live" notwithstanding) from the lesser film rather than take out a throwaway line from the better film? Wouldn't that be quite detrimental to a movie that you're supposed to be making better? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well the only problem with Padme dying is two lines of dialogue in ROTJ.
I'm just saying, ROTJ is no untouchable perfect piece of cinema. There's a choice to make here and one of them honestly is a lot easier and makes a lot more sense.

The quality of new products was dying, not the popularity of old ones.
I hate to preach about this but "quality" when it comes to film is completely subjective. You and me will say OT has better quality than the prequels, while some prequels fan boys will say the opposite. Who is wrong? No one.
Well you said "Star Wars was either dead" which could not be true exactly because of the popularity of old ones.
At the risk of sounding like I'm arguing, I will respond. Quality is subjective, of course, but I think most would agree that the PT was less than the OT. Besides, what I said originally was not even referring to the movies. What I meant was, at the time, it looked like there'd never be any more Star Wars movies and that all we'd be left with is new books and comics that try to fit into the increasingly absurd EU.
Now we have new movies (along with, what I assume, will be a somewhat rebooted EU) and a new show with the possibility of more shows. The only thing that looked like a problem was that TCW was ended before it was ready. That will no longer be the case.
Also, I would never say SW was or is dead, but if you look around on this forum, many people did.
The quality of new products was dying, not the popularity of old ones.
Not that this is even the place to discuss it but I would argue that scene is broken.
Alright, alright. Before I do though, I just want to make sure, is that really the only option? Wasn't the tehparadox just a link to the files that were hosted at uloz? Shouldn't I still be able to download that? Is there anyway to get those links? Sorrysorrysorry and thanks.
JEDIT: Nevermind, don't need to worry about that, and still don't have to torrent.
Yeah but what if I don't know how to torrent?
