The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread
Time

You guys (Ray, Bingo) really hate the PT that much that you will stick by things developed in ROTJ, even though you don't even consider it good? My point is, Padme's death makes more sense, dramatically. Having Padme killed in the Alderaan explosion (or before it) would mean she was killed offscreen, which dramatically doesn't make much sense considering how big a character she is. Other than that I don't know how to further my argument beside what I've already said.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

Just re-watched VH1's 'When Star Wars Rulled the World' and was reminded that people walked out of the cinemas and re-joined the queues to see the film again....hopefully that roller coaster ingredient is included in the re-writes.....something that will appeal to everyone, not nerdy like the prequels.

JJ successfully moved the Star Trek movies away from the nerds into the main cinema audience

J

Yeah, I think JJ's the man to do it. ST09 was one of the few films I saw in theaters three times - not because it was one of the best films I saw in theaters, but because it was one of the most exhilarating. If JJ can bring that to SW, he's on the right track.

Re: Han. Yeah, people change, of course, I get that. Of course Han's not going to be wild and reckless 30 years later. But some people just aren't the type to settle down. Some people never get married and have kids. I believe Han is one of those people.

I could almost see a Leia and Lando marriage make more sense at the end of the day. Unfortunately, VII's going to have expectations to live up to. At the end of VI, Han and Leia are together and happy, presumably forever. If they're separated without explanation at the start of VII, that might not work so well. Yet another reason to be annoyed with ROTJ, I suppose.

Can Episode VII ignore the prequels?

Of course the PT can be ignored. The question is if it will be ignored.

Frankly, as far as I'm concerned, no PT characters/events/storylines/etc. should ever be overtly mentioned or alluded to. I wouldn't mind seeing some PT species or planets show up, but anything more than that is anathema.

Would that really be so bad, though? The OT mentioned the Clone Wars, Anakin's fall to the dark side, Padme (though not by name), etc. I see no problem with the ST acknowledging characters and events from the PT. Some people hate the PT and like to ignore it, I get that. So when you watch the ST, you can just pretend the references to the PT are just backstory (like in the OT).

Mostly agreeing with TMBTM. I almost wish that Leia and Han weren't even going to be in these new films, I'm not really interested in their 'family.' What would be more interesting, however, is if they didn't make a family. To me Han doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would get married (he seems even less likely than Indy to commit to a relationship, honestly), and he most certainly does not seem like the type of guy who would have kids.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

It's really great to visit popular sites and see articles about that ROTJ EditDroid Laser Disc. The thing's gone viral, which will probably mean that LFL will learn about it at some point. Of course some might look at this as a bad thing, but ever being the optimist that I am, I hope it just shows them how interested fans are in deleted material - not just deleted scenes, but outtakes in general. Alternate takes rarely get the spotlight. I hope this shows that fans are hungry for them, and maybe, just maybe, someday we might get some more which could greatly help in fan edits like this.

Also there's the possibility, since they're linked, that LFL becomes aware of Revisited. That could potentially be awesome, but who knows.

The Indiana Jones 5 news excites me. I believe there's still potential for a great Indy movie. The real problem will KOTCS was the script. The film was actually enjoyable, just unfocused. If they can get that right (and I don't see why they can't, there won't be another two decades of re-writes) then everyone will be happy because we'll all walk home with one last great adventure.

Batman/Christopher Nolan rant
Time

I've kind of had enough will arguing the merits of TDKR, for the most part people don't listen. I actually didn't even read all of what you said before because I didn't want a headache. I did read this^ post though. Yeah, killing Batman and having him fail would be extremely ballsy and original. And yeah, it would piss off the audience. Not because it wasn't a happy ending, but because it would mean Bruce's character arc and the film's thematic meaning was never resolved. Which would be dumb and would make it a bad film.

I will leave this threat now forever.

We all know that stand-alone Star Wars movies are a done deal (Like it or not) so what do you want to see???
Time

How about the Obi-Wan film from the OP, but with a twist: he's one of two leads.

The film starts with Obi-Wan Ben explaining to a reluctant Owen that he must take care of Luke. Flash-foward a bit (ten years) and we get to see Luke meet Ben for the first time. He comes back home late, and Owen chastises him. Rebellious Luke decides to stay out late again, and as he comes home he is kidnapped by sand people. Owen finds out and goes to Ben for help. They set out on a quest through the dunes and caverns of Tatooine, building an understanding of each other along the way.

Once they get to the camp Luke's held at, Ben goes for peaceful methods while Owen engages in bare-knuckled Tusken beat downs. Luke is saved, and Ben and Owen have one final discussion before they part. Ben says one day he will need to teach Luke the ways of the force. Owen vehemently disagrees. He says he knows what happened to his step brother, and that it will never happen to Luke. Ben ignores the comment, says "May the Force be with you," and starts off. Owen takes Luke by the hand. Ben and Owen walk into the sunsets, heading in different directions.

Would be a great vehicle for Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton. Also Owen's fists would finally get the respect they deserve.
