I’ve been listening to the Phasma audiobook and have been having similar thought, really like the mysterious and out there sci-fi tone of it.
I also appreciate how she didn’t make it the typical biography (which I think would be wrong for a character we’ve seen and known so little of). It’s cool how it’s looking at the character from the outside, definitely gives her a lot of mystique, which feels more appropriate for the character.
Anyone else able to enjoy less than perfect movies for what they are without rewriting them in their head?
I am, although some exceptions have to be made.
I find it funny that Lumpy, of all things, has been brought into the new canon.

Different strokes and all. I didn’t find anything interesting about the Orville in the two episodes I watched.
It’s as if not only did he want to win the title of worst president ever, he also wanted to make sure it stuck for the foreseeable future.
I don’t know how you can call her uninteresting. I think her backstory is pretty fascinating at the least, and she’s been put into a position that could prove compelling.
By the way the Lord of the Rings movies hadn’t come out yet when I was ten.

No idea. I mean, I guess I don’t know a whole lot about the site, but it’s always seemed reputable to me. One would imagine that if they’ve added blur-ray covers there’d be a reason.
Then again, no announcement? The site usually has news about stuff like that, even if it’s as non-news worthy as “same discs, new packaging.”
I have two full Arcade Fire albums (incl. one deluxe version) and a fair amount of songs off their others, which doesn’t sound like much but for them is actually a pretty good percentage. Enough at least for me to say I’m a fan.
I didn’t pay for the second episode, I just did the free trial.
Hard to imagine pics like that are a mistake. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are new individual (nonsteelbook) BDs out in a couple months.

I do have every studio album and one live album by U2.

Just watched Discovery. Not sure what all the hate is about. It’s pretty fine. Am I crazy about it? No. But the first two episodes were interesting, and I like the direction they’re going with it and will be watching more.
After two episodes, can’t say I’m really interested in watching anymore of the Orville, so I guess Discovery takes it for me.
Pretty cool, you tackled one of the strangest and most unnatural sequences in the entire PT and injected some life into it for sure!

Thanks. I’m still trying to see if there are spots in AOTC where I can add in OT music (ideally the battle on Geonosis), but that’s been a bit trickier to crack. I don’t really want to go too overboard and get rid of too much of Williams scores for these films, but I don’t feel much remorse in replacing music if it’s actually already reused music (and there are quite a few instances of this in AOTC and ROTS).
This is what I loved a lot from the OT and I missed from the PT: More ‘‘friend’’ moments between characters, moments that makes me chuckle by the interaction of the protagonists (kinda what the TCW series had between Ani and Obi), I totally like this scene much more now!
Thanks, yeah a lot of people cut out that joke entirely but I feel it’s the small moments like that that do a lot to try to make that friendship “work.” The way I cut it was someone else’s idea that I actually just recently remembered and implemented, but I honestly can’t recall who came up with it.

I think I discussed this with you in a PM awhile back, but, in short, Episode I is yours (with a couple slight tweaks), Episode II is yours (with some bigger tweaks), and Episode III is basically a hybrid of yours and L8’s (primarily L8’s structure with your within scene editing; with some additional tweaks).
ROTS is the big one that I’ve spent the most time on. It’s pretty much the only one where I’m adding/replacing music, in about 10 different spots of varying length. Another thing I’m doing that I’ve never seen done before is removing the Order 66 montage. I’ll put a video up of that when I finish the audio.
Across the three movies, I’m also doing a relatively rare thing - scene by scene color grade. It’s nothing too crazy, and there’s not a unified goal beyond simply “make it look better.” What that means for me varies scene to seen. It’s a bit more of a filmic look (with grain added), but ultimately it’s what I like, so I think it might actually skew a bit more modern in some places. I’ll post comparison pics eventually. You can actually see the grade in the clip I posted, but it’s pretty slight in that scene (plus I didn’t upload it in HD and Vimeo isn’t the most accurate when it comes to colors).
I’ll probably post a more comprehensive cutlist at some point.
