Honestly, no point badgering DE over it, considering he isn’t going to watch and pretty much never talks about it. Lot less annoying than if he was posting everyday about how Rian Johnson shat on his childhood and murdered Luke’s characterization and ate a baby and wore a lobster sweater once and how it’s clear that Mark Hamill hates him for that or whatever the shit.

Did that stuff happen in the movie?

If it did then I need to go grab a BD copy and give it a watch.

No, sorry for the confusion, Rian was the one who ate a baby and wore a lobster sweater.

Is the footage included in the behind-the-scenes featurettes?

Lobster sweater, yes. Baby eating, no (that’s here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BffVizCD3ew/?utm_source=ig_embed).

This is the greatest thing I’ve seen all day, and I actually kinda liked the Porgs.

It is great and baffling to me that you can get a cake to look like that. As for the porgs, I think you’d have to work pretty hard to actively dislike them.

Well in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also looking at this matter in a different way and without wanting to fight, and by trying to make it clear, and further by considering each and everyone’s opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say. Thank you for your patience

This post deeply offends me.

You’re wrong.

And by the way, everyone reading this knows I’m right.

You seem to be misunderstanding the concept here. I, meaning me (mfm), am right. Everybody, meaning all you people, know that I’m right.

You’re the least right person I’ve ever known.

And by the way, everyone reading this knows I’m right.

Why are people taking out 100,000 dollars in debt to go to this school?

Why do people take on incredible amounts of debt to go to any school?

Genuinely asking, I have no idea why I did it either.

It was hammered into me that it’d be the only way I could get a job and not live a shit life. To be fair, I do live moderately well, but that’s just because I live cheap and don’t have a family.

Yep, basically this for me too.

A degree certainly doesn’t guarantee a good job, and a lack of a degree certainly doesn’t preclude a good job, but they both change the odds.

I’m paying out the ass on student loans every month, but also I have a pretty fantastic job for someone barely a year out of school and there’s basically no way I’d have it if hadn’t gone to a school of the caliber (or higher) that I went to.

Maybe I’m looking at this wrong, but if you don’t identify as a woman, why go to a “college for women”?
And if a person with a penis identifies as a woman, will they admit this person?

Hard to say. Women’s colleges are especially appealing if you’ve undergone some sort of trauma involving men, as many have, and I’m sure there are other reasons. Policies would vary from school to school. My guess is a lot of college-aged people are also still working on self-identity, and things may change between admission and graduation.

Makes sense.

I know y’all will be annoyed with that article but so be it.

Just because some people are dumbasses and don’t understand the film’s rhetorical approach doesn’t mean the movie is bad.

That’s fine.

I’m not saying it’s a bad movie. I’m saying it has problems.

It does not.

You don’t even see anything wrong about giving that shitbag a cameo where he gets to do a commercial?

Okay, 1) I was joking, 2) I don’t like the cameo (though I wouldn’t at all say “he gets to do a commercial,” more like the opposite).

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

While you’re looking at TAS… last night I think I noticed a slight issue (though this was in the V4, so I don’t know if this has changed). Might be a pain since it’s video… but at the beginning of the edit, you cut from the assassination attempt to an establishing shot, then to the senate, then to an establishing shot, then to Palpatine’s office.

This is the first establishing shot

And this is the second

Problem is, the building in that first shot is not the senate building, it’s the building with Palpatine’s office (the senate building is the bigger one in the background of that second shot). So hypothetically all you would have to do here is swap these two shots.

I tried to see it at the same series where I saw the Lawrence print, but it was sold out.

I unfortunately missed that series entirely. Was lucky enough to see 2001 at the Egyptian in Hollywood this past fall.

Dom, can I assume we both saw Jaws at the Somerville Theater’s annual screening?

Actually no, the Coolidge Corner theater also has an annual screening every Labor Day weekend (and going to Brookline was much more convenient for where I was living/going to school at the time).

Might have been the same print though.

Last night I finally saw the one movie from before I was born that I’ve been trying to see ever since I started going to see movies from before I was born.

You may know it by its other title, The Greatest Film Ever Made, but I personally like to call it E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

It did not disappoint. Tears were shed. Would see in theaters again ASAP.

The end of E.T. turns me into a faucet when I watch it on my 32"LED. Seeing it on the big screen would be emotional.

YUP.

The only cgi in any of the prequels that ever looked bad to me without meticulously analyzing individual frames is the opening space battle after the title crawl. Obi Wan and anakins ship look terrible. I’ve never noticed anything else until it was pointed out to me.

I’ve been cursed with the inability to not notice all the bad CG whenever I watch.

If you are using Premiere and having issues with exporting audio transitions, then I would try just key framing the problematic transitions instead. I have had issues like that before and that solved it. Not sure about other NLE’s though.

Yeah, that’s what I’m going to have to do. I’d say 95% of my audio transitions are keyframed already and the other 5% are using transition effects. Never had this problem before (which is weird, I literally use Premiere everyday) so I didn’t think anything of it, though I guess I should have just stayed consistent in the first place.

That’s good to hear you figured out the issue. It is quite annoying of an issue and sometimes will just pop up out of nowhere. I also can’t seem to find a source for the issue and all there is on the web is simply the keyframing solution.

Yeah, it’s fine. Most of the time I use keyframes anyway just because it’s more precise. But sometimes I get lazy and click “apply default transitions.”
