I have to say adding back “Luke has a Moment” seems like a mistake to me, as it throws off the whole structure if you cut back to Leia there.

I’m curious to see if people can fix the minor technical issues in the jacket scene, the one where BB-8 shows the hologram, the caretaker scenes, the extended Supremacy incursion, and the scene where Finn and Rose head to Crait.

“Luke Has a Moment” definitely requires a restructure, which is what I spent most of last night doing. That scene cuts straight into Leia on the ship. I then added the “Jacket scene” which cuts to Poe and Leia’s altercation. After she says “Dead heroes, no leaders” there’s a few seconds hold on Poe’s face, which I used to wipe back to Ach-To to see Luke’s daily routine. That sequence plays out to the end of their conversation in the Jedi Library and then wipe from Rey’s face back to Finn looking at the display asking how Rey will be able to find them.

It’s not perfect, but it works pretty seamlessly. I think the trade-off is worth it.

Could certainly work, but I feel like the pacing would suffer. In my mind the easiest solution would be to just transition from Luke having a moment to his daily routine.

By technical issues, are you talking mostly sound? I didn’t notice anything else wrong with the “Jacket scene”.

Nope, I mean unfinished visual effects (though the music will certainly cause headaches in a couple of the scenes). At the start of the jacket scene there’s some rough edges on Finn’s legs during the shot of BB-8.

Well it sounds like everyone’s going to get a crack at it in a few weeks, at least in the US. I’ve been seeing stuff about upcoming 70mm screenings for the 50th anniversary beginning in mid-May.

Would see again, even though the showing I went to was only a few months ago. An all time classic. (plus it was almost sold out and I got a bad seat).

TLJ did feel slightly disconnected to me the first few times I saw it in the theater, but after rewatching the whole saga in the few weeks before the TLJ blu-ray and then TLJ last night, it feels absolutely consistent. I think it’s a little difficult for me to get an accurate read on the tone of a movie like this until I can see it in isolation from theater audience reactions.

I think a big part of it must be the expectations thing. As evidenced by GothamKnight’s post, if you were expecting something after TFA and didn’t get exactly that, there might be a disconnect for you personally, even if in reality the two films actually fit very well together.

It looks to me like they tried to make her look younger. But whatever, IMO she looks completely different in that shot than in the rest of the movie, however they did it or whatever their intention was. And it looks bad.

Old Frink need glasses. She looks pretty much the same. Trying to make her look younger doesn’t even make sense, there’d be no reason for that. Not to mention you see her hands and they look pretty old.

I don’t mind them at all when they’re in the stables, I’m talking about when Rose and Finn are “riding” them.

Carrie Poppin’s

Can we not?

Precisely.

Although, I will say it did remind me that I dislike the CGI there too because they decided for some reason to try and make her look much younger and it really stands out. I mean, in the close up, why do it there? Just film her!

Is this a joke I’m not getting?

No…

I just watched that scene last night, so it’s definitely not a case of me not remembering. The close up on her when she’s floating in space (right before she wakes up) looks super fake. If it’s not fake I’d be astounded.

I also just watched it last night. There are obvious CG alterations but I don’t think it’s completely fake, nor are they trying to “make her look younger.” Think the idea was just to give her a slight frost.

No its humor and star wars should never have humor. Remember how serious Han Solo was all the time?

To be fair, most of the complaints about the humor revolve around the humor not being funny. That’s different than complaining about there being humor.

That would be fair if it were actually the case.

A lot of people say otherwise.

And a lot of people don’t say otherwise. Comedy is incredibly subjective so it’s a stupid argument to have. Doubly stupid if you haven’t seen the movie.

So, if you don’t like the comedy then it’s a stupid argument to have? As for not seeing the movie, I never said anything about my opinion on the comedy, I’ve only defended people that thought it wasn’t funny from smear-posts from fans of TLJ. Scroll through all my posts and you’ll see that I’ve not once criticized TLJ, only TFA and R1. Also, why would I even want to see this movie?

I just tend to find debates that are basically just “I thought it was funny” “Well I didn’t, fuck you!” are pretty pointless and go nowhere. It is especially pointless if one of the sides is someone saying “Well I heard someone else say it isn’t funny so that must be true!” which adds nothing to an already nothing discussion.

I’m not really sure what you mean by smear posts? And I agree, it’s probably better for you to not watch it.

By the way, everyone reading this knows I’m right.

That’s only true when I say it and I only say it when I’m objectively right.

Not only does everyone else reading this post know this is wrong, deep down you do too. Sorry chap.

Uhh, here’s an artist’s approximation of what you look like:

We’ve got:

The hair of JFK
The face of Marky Mark
The eyes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt
The mouth of Matt Damon
The ear of Nick Jonas

That’ll be $500, please.

Wow, I mean… not quite, though kind of almost looks like one of my cousins.
