He’ll watch (some) youtube clips of TV shows, but anything made for the internet is beneath him. I wonder if he ever watched Siskel & Ebert back in the day.

Please don’t compare RLM to Siskel and Ebert.

Outside of a few obvious differences in format and content, Half in the Bag is pretty much a modern Siskel & Ebert.

I’m not talking about the medium. I don’t give a shit about the medium. Siskel and Ebert are two of the all time greatest film critics. Please don’t pretend the RLM guys are anything close to that.

I would say they are pretty close. Siskel and Ebert may be the best, but that doesn’t make RLM low. They’re intelligent and they explain their opinions well, along with critique of the objective and technical aspects.

And don’t forget that Siskel and Ebert were never perfect either.

I can post random images too. I don’t care about what anyone thinks of anime, I just think the hypocrisy is astounding.

The images I posted are from some of the most popular series among anime fanatics.

I’m no anime fanatic, but I think I would’ve at least heard of these if they were really “some of the most popular.” As far as I’m aware, action series’ like Dragon Ball and One Piece are much more popular.

The anime community is truly terrible.

You speak of it as if it’s a singular entity.

I think they’re way too self depreciating to be pretentious.
But, yeah, the Plinkett reviews (all of em, not just Star Wars) are works of art. The Titanic one is particularly good. He spends at least the first half absolutely praising the film, and rightfully so. And then rightfully drags it across the coals.

All of this. And I love the original Star Trek Next Gen reviews in particular.

The Terminator - Color Regrade [No Longer Available]
Time

The first encoding pass is running now. This should take 'til tomorrow morning or noon, and then tomorrow night I’ll make the final encode. So it should be uploaded by Tuesday at the latest, as long as nothing goes wrong. I’ll update the first post then, but I’m going to go ahead and take down the first upload of the film right now. My old LUTs are still staying up so anyone who wants my old version in the future can make use of them.

Here is the current color correction as it stands.

I feel I’ve done everything I can with it at this point. From the evidence available to me, this regrade seems to be extremely accurate, though not perfect, of course. The big issue with accuracy is that no two prints would’ve been exactly the same, and the specific things that would be consistent are things that I can’t replicate without having more complete references as well as making this a shot by shot correction. It also doesn’t help that the Blu-ray transfer doesn’t like being conformed to nicer colors, so the things that don’t look 100% in the ballpark like the Tech Noir will just have to stay that way. That said, I’m very happy with how this all looks, and I truly believe that what I’ve done is nearly as accurate as can be achieved with this Blu-ray transfer.

I’ll try to get this new regrade encoded in the next few days, and then I’m going to stop hosting the old regrade and put this one up in its place.
