Star Wars Custom Blu Ray Saga Set (a WIP)
Time

I’d have to say that 2.6 has my vote for the Tatooine scenes, sorry Darth. All of the shadows are dark blue, and are especially weird when it’s a shadow along a warm-colored object (like sand/rocks). I also think you should definitely re-do the letter box to make sure they’re all completely black, because I sure can see blue letter boxes on some of those screenshots.

There are those who even say the “No, I am your father” twist wasn’t there since the genesis of Star Wars.

It wasn’t. Who thinks that it was?

A few really devoted Lucas fans. They even claim that he intended on there to be 9 films. Some say he intended for 12 films to be made.

The “12 films” argument has some truth, as one of the (many) ideas Lucas had in the early success of Star Wars was to follow it with 11 sequels, but obviously that idea didn’t go very far. Honestly, Lucas had so many ideas for Star Wars that never happened, so, it’s difficult to say what was and wasn’t really there when it comes to little ideas that didn’t get out much.

EDIT: Also, they’re not going to make him Plagueis, there would be no purpose in that. The arguments have already been made.

The former team members are also going to work on releasing a new one with new scans from Poita, so, a better release will come in due time, not to mention when we may hear about any Tech restorations progressing soon.

Do you think the Tech’s likely to see the light of day? Do you have some new intelligence? 😃

I don’t have any info, but AntcuFaalb has stated:

"For all interested (especially Stinky) I will say this: scans of other 35mm IB Technicolor prints exist and at least one non-TN1 team is in the process of booting up to start restoration work. It will likely be worked on last (since it’s the least endangered of the three from a preservation POV), but it will get worked on.

No names; no threads; no team accounts; no updates; no credits; no interviews; no deadlines; no guarantees except that the scans will get passed on if the team falls apart or loses interest or spontaneously combusts."

And Poita:

“There are already other Tech IB restorations in progress, Rob has said that he still has access to the print, and IMHO, a rescan now is a good idea anyway, and it sounds like Rob or others can get that happening, and regardless, other Techs have been scanned and are being worked on, so nothing is really lost.”

Right, so it’s kind of a telepathic focusing lens.
I guess that might have been an inspiration for the Force. Although it has more of a PT feel to it (e.g. Midichlorians being needed to tap into the Force).

Dune was a bigger influence for the Force, and, as I spoke of earlier, was the reason they changed it in the Lynch film to being a device they use rather than a “force”-like thing.

(I see on wikipeedia that only a few of the Foundation books were written prior to SW, and that the same goes for the first two Dune novels. Would that be a good place to start?)

Dune would probably be a good place to go for some of Lucas’ literature inspirations. Star Wars was heavily based on ideas from Dune, and that’s why David Lynch’s Dune strayed from the book as much as it did, because if they included aspects from the book that were ever present in Star Wars, audiences that are unfamiliar with Dune (probably the majority of people) would feel it was a ripoff of Star Wars.
