^I agree with almost this entire list, exceptions being those I haven’t seen yet. Really good stuff.
I think he’s referring to the color channels not lining up perfectly. So you get green or red outlines because the colors aren’t meshing correctly. I might have my terminology wrong, though.
That was fun…
I would also suggest Blade Runner, but deciding which version to watch could be terribly difficult 😉.
Dek Rollins, you had some very good suggestions also, I might have to search for First Blood again and the original Predator. Can’t say I’ve seen Wrath of Khan, though I’m a huge Star Trek series fan.
As far as I remember, First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part II are both on Netflix. Not sure about Rambo III. Either way, the first one is the only good one IMO. And if at all possible, I would suggest getting a hold of the “Director’s Cut” DVD of Wrath of Khan, as I think the DC is better than the theatrical, and the current video transfer of the film is rather horrid (this is the one on Netflix).
The Hoth uniform didn’t have pockets like that, and that’s what makes him look like a fisherman. It also doesn’t appear to have the collar. Why couldn’t he just be wearing the Hoth vest? That would look better IMO.
Can you drive thru it?
“I don’t wanna touch sand paper.” haha…
Terminator (1984). Predator (1987). Robocop (1987). First Blood (1982). Wrath of Khan (1982). Batman (1989). Good '80s stuff that came to mind.
^That would be cool. Though it wouldn’t show any improvement to Despecialized. We wouldn’t get the comparison to the previous version.
I find the effort to remove them ridiculous.
They used force-speed to turn down the hallway to their left really fast. Then, the destroyers turned the corner after reaching the end of the “T” hall. It’s a really confusing scene.
In TPM, when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan used force-speed down the hallway to get away from the destroyers, I thought they had teleported behind the destroyers and were running back down the hall that the destroyers came from. When the destroyers turned to follow them down the hall, I thought they were turning around.
(I’m sure this was brought up by someone else back when this thread was in action, but I’m not going to check.)
Sorry, I didn’t even know that thread existed. Thanks for pointing it out. 😄
^Yay! Someone else who agrees! 😄
^I also am guilty of this.
^Starring this dude:
I love Donald Trump.
There, I’ve done it – I finally seen this movie. My final thoughts?
I liked the production values, I liked the budding chemistry and banter between Rey & Finn, I liked BB-8, and I liked the Scottish & Asian smugglers Han briefly runs into before the rathtar scene. As for everything else, however? The First Order villains? The Starkiller plot device? The execution of Rey’s burgeoning Force powers? The lightsaber duel? It was all very – how shall I put this? – uncaptivating.
I didn’t hate this movie, but I didn’t like it either; once the Starkiller base reared its uninspired stratosphere, I rapidly fell into boredom and just couldn’t wait for the plot dominoes to fall in their predictable order and lead into the end credits.
Now that it’s out of the way, I have no intent or interest in ever seeing this movie again.
6/10
Wow, we’re on the same wavelength! 😄
It seems I’m on your wavelength too. But I really only liked the production value… and BB-8 a little, I guess. So I’m like, hanging on the edge of the wave 😉.
Gojira (1954) - 10/10
Japanese with English sub, of course.
I genuinely want to know your beef with the film.
My beef with all the Nolan films is the fact that Batman is a comic book superhero, but they tried desperately to make it overly-realistic and overly-modern, and that makes them fail as Batman films, and they also failed at the realism they were apparently trying to achieve. The films don’t capture Batman. They capture Dude uses existing military equipment to become a vigilante.
Yeah, you make a fair point, but I don’t read comics, and I judge them as films, and in that regard, The Dark Knight is great, at least in my opinion.
I don’t read comics very much either (not Batman comics at least), and I do judge them as films, but I know what comics are, I know what they’re like, and I like comic book movies when they are portrayed as comic books on the big screen. The Nolan films don’t do that for me, and when a film is no longer a comic book film, all of the “this doesn’t make sense” moments are no longer excused, because I lose my comic book standards for the the film.
Furthermore, the Burton films are literally all the good things that ever came out of the comics, paired together with some new stuff and some changes, that effectively become a better comic than the comic, and on the big screen.
^Same here.
