STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Well no IF, you make a good point: if Adywan keeps the transformation scene we'll know Vader's Anakin, so no need to keep it as a surprise in the OT.

I was just under the impression (or hoping) that the transformation would be cut, so I could watch the saga in chronological order without knowing for sure who Vader is until episode V.

I was watching the DVD9 version again yesterday when I suddenly realized something:

The battle of heroes music you added to reflect Anakin and Obi-Wan's fight in EpIII... isn't that a major clue/spoiler that Darth Vader is Anakin?

If you are removing the Vader=Anakin references from the prequels, isn't adding this music to the OT a bit contradictory? Or are you planning on replacing the music in the PT?

Just wondering :-)

Here's an idea I had regarding his quick turn (but not relating directly to the "reason"). It seems to me that when he confronts Palpatine and discovers he's the Sith, he's almost ready to kill him, but he changes his mind so quickly later. Instead, as per George's original plan, edit the scene in Palpatine's hallway so that Anakin seems conflicted by Palpatine's admission. He ignites his saber breifly, but after some prattle from Palps (insert "reason" here), he turns off his saber, and Palpatine smiles. Scene ends. (Anakin never alerts Mace. The Jedi already suspect Palpatine will not turn over power. I think there's a deleted scene that may be useful here). When Mace shows up, Anakin is nowhere to be seen. But he's actually sulking conflictedly in the shadows (maybe footage from the council chamber scene could be darkened and rotoscoped). While the duel continues, Anakin experiences his true turn: an emotional crescendo where we hear in his mind waves of overlapping voices (Qui Gon: "He is the chose one", Palps: "I see you becoming the greatest of all the Jedi", etc etc.). The voices continue and jumble up, getting louder and becoming unbearable (the right music could really sell this). Just as the voices reach a peak and crash into silence, Palps seems to be beaten. Anakin, now turned, suddenly steps out to quietly dismember Mace. After the electrified Mace flies out the window, the kneeling Anakin simply says "I will do whatever you ask, my master."

And that's my 1 cent.

THAT would be incredible. Your 1 cent has turned to 5.

I agree, it would be amazing if someone could make an edit like this.

Hmm, the extra mouth movements sometimes make the rest of Yoda's face look static. It's still interesting to see though.

But I'm not sure if I like this new Yoda. There's no denying it looks more "real" now, but I've known Yoda as a puppet my entire life... he looks so different now, it jumps out to me. Yoda isn't a background character like the aliens in the cantina scene, he's a main character... I doubt changes to his look will ever be subtle.

EDIT: don't let that keep you from experimenting with it further though, maybe toning it down a bit might help...

Umm my whole post was just kind of a joke, very little needs to be done with the battle of Hoth.

Ah... whoops ^_^

after the sheilds down should there be a bombardment since its mentioned.

Wouldn't that be rather stupid as the empire is already down there? They would be bombarding themselves...

Have drop ships bring in more and more AT-ATs during the battle, in the background beyond their energy shield of course.

Not this again... NO DROPSHIPS! This isn't the clone wars.

Have tie fighters make strafing runs.

Spacefighters should stay in space. If we're going to start using (agile and fast) TIE Fighters in ground battles, what's the use of using slow AT-ATs?

have at-sts picking off people

meh, maybe in the background. Personally I'd rather see no AT-STs at all, to me they've always looked out of place anyway.

Speeder bikes zipping around

There are speeder bikes in the battle? I don't see why they'd need them...

Have the x-wings flying escort engage tie-fighters to give the transports time to get past the Star Destroyers. Have them pwned since its only "two fighters against a star destroyer?"

This sounds good and has been discussed before, but I have no idea where you could put it.

yah...that would be sweet

It looks like you're after a clone wars battle, but Hoth isn't a war fought by two huge armies, it's just a bunch of rebels being attacked by the Empire. If you give the empire a huge army, where's the suspense? You'll just know the rebels can't win.

I for one don't want to see an orgy of hundreds of ships and explosions. I think the battle is fine as it is, just fix some continuity errors (disapearing walkers/rebels) and it's perfect.

So what you're saying is that Ady could redub Boba the kid's voice with Boba's original EMPIRE voice, or would that just be a little too silly?

Why would you dub a kid with an adult's voice? Yes, I think that would be a little silly.

If he decides to keep the clone thing all Adywan has to do is change Jango's voice, and if he decides that boba is no longer a clone, than there is no problem anymore and no redubbing is necessary.

What's the changes between Purist and Standard? Here's what one of the torrents says:

Changes from the full version:
- Changed 3PO's line back to "There'll be no escape for the princess this time"
- Re-edited Obi-Wan's Hut scene back to its original version
- Removed the extended Death Star reveal
- Removed the extended TIE Fighter reveal
- Removed all music not originally found in the film

That are all the changes

What was 3PO's line changed TO? I don't see it mentioned in the edit list on the first post. (It is a bit classic).

"There'll be no escape this time"

Talking about colourcorrection...

While watching the colour corrected AVCHD I noticed that in the close-ups of Han in the carbon freezing scene his cheeks (and shirt) look rather yellow.

It felt a bit unnatural to me, comparing to the colour of the rest of his face.

To clearly demonstrate what I mean I made a quick comparison by desaturating the yellow channel (by about -60%):

(I'll admit I pulled down the red a notch as well because while looking at the still shot in Gimp I got the feeling Han's face was about to explode :P)

wuuuuut that can't possibly be a lighting issue

As has been said MANY times before: your eyes are playing a trick on you

see the dark jacket here and the white colar of his shirt?

Well, it's no jacket.

I cut the above picture out of this one:

You must've seen this before:

A and B are the exact same color. Test it in Gimp, Photoshop, Paint, ... if you don't believe me.

Maybe editing wasn't the right word. I'm just trimming them and separating them due to the process I had to use to record them. I'll redo the Fett lines so you can hear the papers again.

Record? Wouldn't downloading the wma files (used in the audio previews) be better/easier?

Just look for the wma in the sourcecode or (in FF) rightclick on the preview page, click 'View Page Info', click the tab 'Media', choose the embedded wma from the list and click 'Save As...'

Or she's at the same wall, but the camera's on the other end...

I have to say this shot never really bothered me, I had a look at the AVCHD, so the flip wouldn't confuse me, and it's quite obvious to me that in the first shot we're looking at Leia from where Han is (at the door). We then move to the other end of the room (passing Leia) to the general, we turn around, and now we're looking at Leia from the other end of the room.

           General

Leia

I like the "the droid's been following Luke" argument Monroville makes there.

but about the whole "star wars movies do not jump around in time like that" thing: Yes they do. We're talking about it right now. It's been like that since 1980.

Some people here never thought of it as the same crash happening twice, others did. So if that worked for everybody before, why change it? It doesn't need to be explained. Both interpretations work. Changing something as silly as that'll only make people angry because it's "not the way they remember it".

It wouldn't be very scary if the droid landed at the other side of the planet now would it?

When Luke says "What's wrong, you smell something?" you think the tauntaun smells the droid, which makes the appearance of the wampa much more of a surprise - at least I thought so the first time I saw ESB.

If you want an explanation for something that really doesn't need explaining I'll make up a story: the droid's sensors were all messed up due to the inpact - calibrating would take another 30 minutes. During calibration it just went a random direction - away from where Luke was.

How's that? :p

In the oficial dvd the second meteor shot was flipped, I believe to fix the issue of seeing the same thing happen twice.

Ady flipped it back so we'd understand/know/see that it is in fact the SAME crash.

I prefer it that way. It really isn't hard for me to see the same thing twice but from a different perspective...

Well i managed to get shit loads done today. The colour correction is coming along pretty fast now. So here's the new comparison clip i promised. Trying to keep 3PO's colour constant was a bit of a nightmare. Just look at his colouring in the original video compared to mine and you'll see what i mean. Some shots he was almost black & white. Gotta love those colour correction guys at ILM. I bet they're really proud of their work

Can anyone who downloaded it reupload it? (preferably with a premium account so it doesn't expire) :-)
