What im getting at is it really worth all the extra work to you, and i think you've answered that without saying it directly.

Bottom line is that its still the same picture in all 3 resolutions, minus some sharpness in the lesser formats. I would argue that do the textures on a hat, or the texture of snow, or whatever, warrent 1 min of film taking 17 mins to encode, as opposed to lesser time, and giving you slightly more flexibility with any effects shots you do later on.

Its not nessicerally what i believe you should be doing with this, Im just illustrating an objective point of view, thats all.

Thing is, to Mr. Joe Pubilc, I dont get the full HD, brand.

If my current set-up thats cost me a measly couple of grand, upscales a DVD9 and im happy with it, that doesnt outshine the lastest benchmark 'full HD' transfer in any major groundbreaking way, i ask, why now?  

There has not been anywhere near the impact of showing any of my friends a full HD movie, compaired to showing them YOUR Star Wars:Revisited (and most of them dont really 'get' Star Wars, but we all love movies). So, for me, why alter a formula you have already mastered? And, expecially if it makes some things youve mastered difficult, then why?

Dont for one second see DVD as old technology (as then the industry that gave us DRM has already won, and would we even been discussing this?), until im inevitably proved wrong (and i even buy most of their crap).

You still have HD encodes tackle it again when (A):storage is cheeper than it is now. (B):you have pushed your bounderies beyond your limitations. (3):Blu-Ray re-writable media maybe readily accessible. And, (IV):ultimatly, when Lucas film out-do you with their eventual, long way off, enough adopters of HD technology, release of their SE Blu-Ray original trilogy, that most of us will buy, but never really love, like what YOU can do now, why not out-do them using their HD source after they release it too all us suckers, and show them up a second time?

LOL thats good. But 1.5 TB! Im not even going to mention about making backups of your masters after what happened last time then!

Did you not have some indication of how big this maybe on the strength of your last edit though, before touting an all singing all dancing full HD release. Sorry if your thinking im speaking out of term just by asking.

Weird. As i think most of us can see the images. You seeing them yet Greedo? Could be your firewall stopping you for some strange reason. Or some setting within explorer. Those black matte lines will need addressing around the second officer in the 'first chatch of the day' shot, there eventually.

Impressive! Most impressive. I was a little worried about how the colour correction would fair in the carbon freezing chamber (as i think the SEs dare i say, look really good at that point in the movie - excluding the sabres of course). Looks like you can improve on that look aswell, so im confident its all in good hands.

Just like to add, although its at a very, very early stage, its already looking the best Empire has ever looked (even from downscaled grabs), so congratulations are in order. Thanks for sharing that with us Ady.

Aweful matt painting? Shoddy? Could the Stardestroyers not be flying in formation so as to avoid colliding with one another? Perhaps the thrusters are full on to give backup the destroyers which have slowed down in the distance (hence the none glowing thrusters) to engage with rebel ships? Okay, i admit, im making excuses, they are scaled clones of one another. They worked at the time. Just 30 years ago photoshop never existed. So we accepted what we were seeing. And as beautiful as McQuarrie concept art is (for cloud city), we now live in an age where some can see exactly how they made a shot (though, before the SE treatment, that shot of the x-wing arriving at cloud city did have the red tint in the skyline to make it fit in better with the other skyline scenes in cloud city. I may have a stab at a completely new backdrop on that one). Though, its another one of those things where the films are starting to show their age unfortunatly after 30 years (besides the hair cuts).

But guys, just give a little scence of some respect to the work at that time. Your words are a little to harsh there. The effect shots have lasted a lot longer than any other movie from that era.

I didnt mean EVERY frikin post needs a connection with the film, as thats also counter productive to the cause.

As ive stated in the past though, the one flaw (to me only) is that Degobar, urm, Daygobar, urm, Dhay-go, urm.................when Luke crashes on that planet where Yoda lives, the pace of the film also takes a bit of a nose dive with him. I know its so very, very, very important to the story, but is there just a few pointless frames that could get trimmed just a little there, and i really hate to see films cut, JUST SO WE CAN GET FROM RUDDY DEYGO.......(yeah, ive been on holiday there, and yes, we didnt much care for it)?

Ripplin, dont know if as im viewing it on my PS3 but thef first 2 images aint showing up. Dead weird posting from anything other than my PC(just popped my cherry withthat one), Its crap without a keyboard! Edit, oh, it worked. Message flashed up about invalid UTRL when i posted that reply. The lastest firmware still aint right (take note SONY). Edit: im as dippy as a brush sometimes when i hear myself.

Would be intresting to mock up a personal picture frozen in carbonite with photoshop though. Well, maybe not THAT personal. I promised the wife id never put those pictures up on the net ;-)

EDIT: where did the B&W still originate from (besides DarthNeo)? Is that perhaps a deleted scene from the Hoth battle, as its way to detailed for a mock up shot?
