Info & Help Wanted: Red Dwarf, Harry Potter and Ghostbusters Stuff?
Time
I do know that ADM has made harry potter edits. Im also pretty sure there is someone in the UK that has them though i couldnt tell you who.

Id help you out, but sending them from the U.S. you wouldnt get them by saturday, and im out of town this weekend too, so by the time im able to make copies and get them out, lets just say it may take a little while.

I'd suggest contacting ADM and seeing if he can put you in touch with someone in the UK that has them.

Acutally no, but it would be cool. I am studying Kendo though (Samurai swordsmanship)

I'd settle for an update from MagFan, seems like its been forever since he's last posted.

or you could ask around and see if someone would send you the dvd version. the avi one floating around was made from the dvd version.

that would 'tighten the picture up' more than just a bit

ps. I second nanner, wasnt MagFan working on a ROTS edit? What happened with that, and where did MagFan go? I also thought he was redoing his Ep I and Ep II edits.

Bond, James Bond
Time
YIYF, adam is the last person that should be calling a bond film sexist.

arent the rest of the characters (ie, the female roles) technically defined in Ian's novels as well?

I love when people over use terms like sexism. Why are movies like Tomb Raider or Resident Evil not called sexist but bond is? Its more double standard shit that gets on my nerves. Anyway, im not gonna get into it as it will just aggrevate me.

Anyway...back to Bond

I really need to read the books, I enjoy the movies even though I havent seen all of them. I read one of the books back in highschool...forget which one now, but it was good. I'd probably pick up the box sets of movies if they werent so expensive.

How many of the bond fans here have actually read the books as opposed to being just fans of the movies? and whats your favorite book? Casino Royal is the first book, correct?

Wine
Time
based on the receipe it doesnt seem like it would be spicy. I just noticed the receipe description is "Shrimp in a Cilantro Tomato Blush Sauce" dont know if that helps any.

from what i can find about Cilantro online its:
Cilantro's taste is a fragrant mix of parsley and citrus culinarycafe.com
Cilantro has a distinctive green, waxy flavor mccormick.com

so that prob wont add much spice to it, so the big spice is the garlic the shrimp are sauteed in

Wine
Time
Hey guys, looking for some wine recommendations. Im making a pasta dish from this receipe i have and was wondering what might be a good wine to go with it. I havent made this dish before, so ill give some info from the receipe and hopefully that will help suggest what type of wine might go good with it.

basically its a shrimp pasta. The shrimp are sauteed in garlic and the sauce is made up of tomatoes, chicken broth, cilantro and light cream.

so my guess is its gonna be a light sauce, may get some red coloring from the tomatoes.

thanks in advance for the help,

Harrison Ford's Feelings about the Holiday Special
Time
I said possibly rehearsed. I dont think the interviews are rehearsed, but the stand up act the host gives before the show? even if its just the host reading the jokes an hour before the show its totally scripted/practiced.

and there is no way any actor that goes on there doesnt know the topics to be discussed before hand. no one would go on those shows if they risked getting blind sided by random questions. they may not know every specific question but they have a general idea. Ford's response was 'scripted', he's an actor he acts. Im not saying it wasnt funny or good but its definatly not a suprise to either party (host or guest)

All those late night shows are are a bunch of publicity/promotion for a guest and a comedy routine (that is poorly scripted for the most part). the interviews are the best part of the shows, most of the hosts jokes are obvious set ups, and probably 75% of the time the guest's 'performance' outshines the host.

For the record, I thought Harrison Ford's reaction was absolutly classic

blasphemy, non of those late night shows are staged, they are all 100% unscripted*

*unscripted in this context means totally scripted (and possibly rehearsed)

Evidence of OOT at Lucasfilm?
Time
I dunno, the one article that MeBeJedi posted stated that one of the sets of reels used came from Lucas' personal 'collection' not the LucasFilm vaults. I would find it hard to believe that this wasnt returned to him as is.

Also, maybe its just me and the type of personality I have, but even if i made changes I would keep a copy of the original, if only for myself. Im a programmer and if im radically changing the way i do some function or something I make a backup copy first (mainly in case i mess something up) and end up keeping this because its sometimes helpful to look back at how i did something previously.

And if the prints truely dont exists in the LucasFilm vaults I started a thread a while back that is probably lost at this point, after a discussion with a friend of mine who worked at the Library of Congress and the conclusion drawn was that they definatly have a copy of the original versions of the film where the only change that may be present is the inclusion of the Episode IV. Not that it would be possible to get their film verison of it to do a clean up restore on, but since they generally get 2 copies of everything (archive copy and public view copy), i would say the possiblity does exist (though i would figure it would have to be Lucas(Film) himself requesting it).

I wonder how many silly kids are waiting for Episode IV to be released?
Time
AWK, i feel you truely are missing the point. Your posts are so hypocritical and flip flop more than a fish out of water.

You try to take the Let It Be example and use it to justify or support Lucas' actions when its already been pointed out that its totally different. Countless times you've said that Lucas was making the film closer to his 'original' vision, yet a few posts back you stated that his vision changed over time. So which is it? are the films now his original vision or are they his current vision? you can't have it both ways.

There is more evidence to support that its a change in vision, which is fine, but like the old addage goes, 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'.

The Mona Lisa comment brings up another good point. It is currently owned by a Museum, but thats just property. they didnt create it, da Vinci did. So its his work, not the Museums. Just like Star Wars is owned by Lucas but is the collaboration of so many different people, from writers, directors, actors, to the lowly intern that was in charge of light number 3293 on set 492 during take 5 of scene 3 (made up numbers to illustrate a point). So when Lucas changes the film, sure he's changing a piece of his property, but he's also changing the artistic work of countless people 'because there my toys and if we cant play my way then im leaving and taking my toys with me'

Also, Honestly (and don't take this the wrong way because its not meant to be offensive) he does owe 'us' a damn thing. without 'us', the fans, there would be no Star Wars and no Lucas. Sure the movie might exist, but he wouldnt be where he is if not for the fans. Im not saying he legally owes us anything, such as payment, but is it really too much to ask for a 1 time limited run of the originals to make the people that helped get you where you are today happy? All artist, be it musicians, actors, directors, writers owe it to their fans to give them some respect and appreciation because admit it or not, with out fans of their work these people would be nothing.

I could go on, but its not gonna change your mind. You'll probably respond with your typical 'good point' or maybe an 'i see your point but....', or some other one line post that doesnt really add anything new and spew forth the same crap you always do and we'll get posts that take one side or the other from you depending on the position of the stars during the time you post, you'll never really get the significance of the originals and the effect that there changes have on film history, no matter how many times its logically presented to you or just plain shoved down your throat.

I understand in the comics superman is a pretty muscular guy, but i dont think thats necessary. He gets his strength from his superpowers not his physical size. its better if he is pretty cut so that you can tell he has muscles when he's dressed as superman but when he's clark he should really appear to be more of a wimpy geek type character.

basically there is no reason for superman to be a body builder. Same with venom. I realize that he should be a muscular guy because thats how he was in the comics and it makes more sense that way. But, correct me if im wrong, doesnt the symbiot add to his muscularness when he 'puts on' the venom costume? If so, then there is no reason why he cant be decently big and then digitally enhanced as venom (since venom will probably be all (at least most) cg anyway.

now if Topher is supposed to be some other villian, who are the actual villians in this one, has it been officially (or unofficially) announced...i forget, then i guess the above applies less, but i still think its a valid point.
