EpIII Teaser Poster
Time
wow, just wow...that fake one kicked ass. And im not nearly as critical as some people here. I actually enjoyed the first two movies, yeah, they had their bad spots and there was times i cringed (every time they called Anakin Ani for instance) but for the most point i enjoyed them, not up to the caliber they could/should have been, but enjoyable.

Does anyone have a better image of that fake one. The one posted here was kinda skewed. I would love to have a good copy of that image. I really liked the 'shadow effect' they used similar to the teaser poster for Episode I.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)

But as someone else said, having the PT in a format that conforms to the OT as much as possible is a wonderful gift that MagFan has given to us. High praise and gratitude for that. You have great admiration from most of us on this site, Magnolia.

Im thinking that even though the PT is chronologically before the OT that when i someday show these movies to my kids Ill show them the OT first, then the PT.

The reasoning is not because the PT is worse and i think it will ruin their experience of the OT. Part of it is comments here about ruining the suprises in the OT by watching the PT but I guess im starting to view the OT as more of a back story than as the first part of the story. Ugh, I really cant seem to express the why very well, but i guess the best example i can come up with is Wolverine. You have this character, and his past is this great mystery...eventually the creators (or some new entity) goes back and revisits that past, and tells you the story. Should you wait till this story comes out to read the original story line? Probably not as (in a general sense) this story may never be created. If you havent read it should you read one before the other? In truth it probably doesnt matter, but by reading the back story first you dont have a lot of information on the character/story so while you may enjoy it, it doesnt have the same connection.

Now im not saying the PT accomplishes this adding to the character you already know type situation. But I guess my point is I feel that they dont have to be (and probably arent really meant to be, unless you ask Lucas) watched in time chronological order.

I havent actually bought any of these yet, but i would assume its teh same as a regular case, I mean even if the 2 discs actually touch on the overlap it would be nothing more than cds in a spindle and they dont scratch, i mean the discs are stationary in the case just like any other case so i dont see how they would scratch.

I actually think that secondary flap in the center is worse for the dvds, i have cases that the flap hits the center button on the other disc and cause it to fall out of the holder.

also cds/dvds are a lot more resilient to scratches than most people realize. I found that smudges have more of an affect on their playback than scratches. and if you do have dvds/cds that are scratched and not working get dvd doctor (aka disc doctor, game doctor) its great and it works...it saved one of my ps2 games from a pretty bad scratch (just if i bought i knew one i would pay the extra money and get the electric one)

so while the protection of your discs is valid i dont think its really anything to really worry about as long as your not just storing them in a pile in the corner or anything like that

p.s. when i do finally get around to getting these ill post a kinda of review on their quality and such if your interested.

They do have a pretty nice selection...but what i like about the scanavo line is they have 4 disc (even 6 disc shown on their site) cases that are the same thickness of a single dvd case. Though the multi colors are nice, especially if your looking to replace the snapper cases (what ps2 games come in blue cases? all mine have black)

But where i think the single size multi disc cases are nice is if you have multiple sets of the laserdisc transfers and want to have them all on your shelf without having a seperate case for each version...thats what i plan on getting a couple of these multiple cases for...only places ive found those are just from searches on froogle and scanavo is the only company ive seen with them.

Episode III trailer Nov 4 on Access Hollywood

The trailer will be in the beginning. Just like all trailors are. Why? Think of the purpose of a trailer, to draw audiences to future movies...well since most people get up as soon as the credits start to role it wouldnt be worth the studios time/money/energy to make trailers if they were put at the end. If someone buys a ticked just to see the trailer and not the actual movie do you think the studio cares? No, they already got their money from it, if you wanna pay and then not see the movie why do they care (going to a different movie is different, but people do that all the time for various reasons: the movie's rating, it being sold out)

So the trailer will be at the begining just like it always is. If they replay it after the credits just to please the movie goers thats a different story...if thats even technically aloud i dont know (phsyco might) but i would assume most theaters dont really care about playing the trailer a second time for fans, otherwise they would play the popular trailers before all movies.

Jim Ward on SE Changes...
Time
As with many restorations made with the cooperation of living directors, the “Star Wars Trilogy” introduced content changes, mandated by Lucas, to conform narrative and look and feel in the original trilogy with characters and visuals introduced in the later films. Some were controversial with fans.

apparently some now means all or most i guess, someone alert webster

Jim Ward deflates the issue by scaling the controversy: “At the end of the day an artist has a right to do what he wants to do to his work. For many years, George has worked to achieve the original vision he couldn’t achieve in 1977 or in 1997 (Special Edition).

why couldnt he acheive it in 1997? Im pretty sure i read quite a few interviews where he said the 1997 version was the way he always wanted it to be.

The he can do what he wants with it defense has been beaten to death. a) he only has the ability to make these changes due to its enormous success...a success that came from the same fans he's now taking the movie away from. Plus once he released the movie to theaters, weather he likes it or not, relinquishes some aspect of ownership to the audience as far as im concerned. And if you dont agree with that, well how about all the other artist that worked on the movie? What about there work? George is eliminating the work of other artists.

So it makes maybe a good headline, but it’s hardly a controversy. We sold over $100 million in one day of this DVD around the world, so I don’t think anybody’s too upset about it. And any changes that George made, they might be controversial to about 5 people.”

Ok, a movie that should have easily taken the top first day dvd sales of all time (or at least come close) only sells 2.5 million copies link while the top selling movie sells 7 million copies link. So by these numbers there is obviously no one that was too upset by these changes.

But Jim Ward wouldnt say these things cause its his job would he?

-Darth Simon

Edit: the little nemo sales of 7 million include vhs as well as dvd, but they estimate it as 80% dvd sales, so 5.6 million dvds, more than twice the number of star wars dvds sold

For Sale: Looking to thin out a collection

also have little nit pick variation types...like the lando in skiff guard with silver mouthpiece on helmet and gold on helmet....this is mainly the kind of stuff i want to get rid of and it doesnt show up in my report cause i have them entered into my database seperatly...but if your a variation collector or just missing some of these figures ill be willing to part with one or the other, dont think value wise has much of difference, so as long as they are relativly equal it can be your choice.

id basically like to sell stuff cause the whole point is to size down my collection mainly for space purposes

unfortantly my collection is at my parents hows still (and thats 4 hours away) so while i do have a 99% complete list and can let people 'claim' figures (feel free to pm me inquiring if i have something and am willing to part with it) and can get access to them on Nov 13th, Thanksgiving, X-Mas, and probably one time between thanksgiving and xmas...can also supply pictures of particular items at those points in time

heh, yeah, i have every figure up to probably about wave 3 or 4 from episode I.

This and klingon_jedi's post reminded me of a few nice mistakes i have. I have the r2 freeze frame with imperial trash compacter and death star trash compacter (i think the imperial was the one they changed)

I also have a darth sidious figure that the sticker with his name on it is on upside down.

I unfortunatly dont have (or know the location of) any of the figures me and my older brother had from the original run (they were all opened). we just had like artoo, vader, luke, jabba and ones like that. And wicket...i dont care what people say, i liked the ewoks...i actually have 3 of the stuffed animal ewoks from the early 80's Wicket and the mother and baby

I disagree, I think that they shouldnt have a choice in something like that. They put out a defective product...they should fix it. When cars have problems they have recalls and fix the defects. Other products are like that too (baby seats). All beit they are saftey concerns but a defective product is a defective product. You have the same thing in software, Bug fixes to current versions are free. Why shouldnt movies be held to the same standards.

By the same though process, Lusafilm should have to replace every single dvd that is currently out to fix all the sound and other editing problems (light sabers, etc) Oh, wait, nevermind...thats how lucas intended it to be so its not defective.

Only reason why I'm asking is I'm playing SW Battlefront last night...and two of the missions are the same names as your edits. Coincidence?

He made these edits before Battlefront was made...so unless the makers of the game are fans of his edits i would assume its coincidence.

Btw, still need to get The Clone War, is anyone seeding or going to seed this on myspleen?

Anyway, here is a link to a very low quality jpg of the cover I'm going to use on a 3-disc case.
Next while I'm awaiting my laser-disc player maybe I'll knock out the disc covers & start storyboarding a menu for Empire, Since it has
to be first . .

Fun while at work...

Low Quality First attempt at a cover

Wow, thats a pretty nice cover, good job.

just an fyi, you know there are single thick cases that can hold 3 discs (actually ones that will hold as much as 6 discs), Cause i know my personal preference is the single size case, though for a multi movie set the bigger case wouldnt necessarily bother me. Not saying you should go single, just letting you know the option exists

Now Aunt Beru....hot damn...

I put Natalie in the hot realm, but not as one of the hottest actresses out there (Eliza Dushka beats her hands down, but she's not in star wars)

Call me weird but i kinda like the buns...dont really know why, just do But ill take her hair down like it was in the ewok village over the buns anyday

and then more classic white dress

And i know you mean the Aunt Beru from the originals, at least i would hope you did

I would just go with getting the "like new" or "new" copies on Amazon.com(I got most of my harcovers, including TUF, SQ, VP, and DW brand new for less than $40, much cheaper than SFBC). But if you just buy the ones that aren't released as hardcovers(the paperback exclusive ones like the force heretic trilogy)by the reg publisher, then I would get them from SFBC. As a matter of fact, I did just get the ones not released by Del Rey as hardcovers from SFBC.

Ive never noticed the paper quality of the sfbc books...ill have to check it out.

Ill also have to check out the amazon.com thing, my man thing is to just get them fairly cheaply and since i already have at least one and its in hardcover id like to be consistant But money is the major issue so ill probably hold off for a while, just bought a dvd burner (dual layer)

The New Jedi Order - book series

Well thank you both for the info (I take it thats in chronological order) I may only have vector prime. Ill have to see what they have at www.sfbc.com and possibly join up again since they seem to have closed my account for inactivity. I like them cause a) hardcover books for like 10 bucks b) i prefer hardcover (they look nicer on a shelf) and they help keep that cost down c) they generaly get exclusive (and obviously some not exclusive) 2 in 1 or 3 in 1's of series like that.

I actually got a bunch of the star wars novels from this club. Wish they would do a couple hard cover volumes that contain the X-Wing series though, would really like to read those

Thanks again for the info, ill put it to good use

They can’t be trusted to anything this important. The work of our experts at the ‘We Decide’ desk is completely fool-proof and incapable of error.”

I honestly dont know what to say in response to a comment like this other tahn I'm appaled this guy still has a job in the public eye after basically calling the voters idiots. But I guess the non-humans over at fox know whats best for us, thank god for them

Lucas to Receive AFI Lifetime Award
Time
Heh, i was thinking the same thing, a Roast of Lucas would be great to see.

But yes, I think he deserves it. As Kingsama said, he is currently at the forefront of filmmaking technology. Plus his work has inspired many filmakers professional and amature. And the truth remains that his earlier work is great, and most people here admit that and like it. My whole concern was that this will strenghten his justifaction that essentially wiping out these earlier works is acceptable. I just want him to accept his earlier work for the great films that they are and see them as his fans do...if that happens im sure that an OT dvd release will occur and with more care/quality put into it than the current release.

Hopefully this award will open his eyes to the influence that he and his work, early work as well as current, has on the movie/film industry and he will realize the error in decision to remove the original versions from the public's eye

So at the risk of being called a fanboy, I just want to say:

Congratulations Mr. Lucas
