I know I had the thumbs down on my port when i switched to ABC for a bit, but im using BitTornado again, and it seems to pick up the ports without any forwarding at all.

thats because the friday after thanksgiving (black friday) marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season...though this year they seem to have pushed it up a week.

But anyway...I have to agree as well, especially about thanksgiving being the first or second fav holiday. I mean Turkey, Stuffing, Cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, candied yams, turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie...so much good food. and as Darth Chaltab said, i too enjoy the time with my family.

Oh, and did i mention Turkey and stuffing?

ps. You also get turkey and stuffing

But the disc does have some nice extras...a documentary or two on the actual Alcatraz that was pretty interesting as I remember. If your def gonna get the movie on dvd though, id say go for the criterion version. Cant comment on Armageddon.

My thoughts on it was always that giving someone a more powerful voice gives them a more powerful presence. So altering his voice makes him seem more threatening and powerful.

Actually nevermind:

From the time that each new torrent is uploaded to the tracker, there is a period of time that some users must wait before they can download it.
This delay in downloading will only affect users with a low ratio, and users with low upload amounts.

This is literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard when it comes to torrent tracking.

People with ratios of .94 are banned for 6h. That's not a typo.

You should rethink MySpleen, these guys are clearly retarded.

its not really that big of a deal, well i guess it is if all you want is one torrent from the site and its a new torrent. Otherwise there are plenty of older torrents well worth downloading that you can a) get in the mean time b) use to increase your ratio.

This is what i did knowing that i would want to get Clone Wars as soon as it came out, so i downloaded the other things i wanted, seeded them for a period of time and got my ratio up. My download of Clone War just finished so ill be watching it tomorrow after work\meeting (got a martial arts class till late tonight)

Info Wanted: What other LDs are you all transferring?
Time
Thanks for the info. Gonna take a look at that capture card as I kinda need one before i can really do much, but dont want to spend a fortune while at the same time want a good/decent card.

Those softwares sound pretty good, basically just looking for something real simple as i have absolutely no experience in this area. I probably wont even do much (if anything) as far as editing/restoration goes cause as i said im a total beginner as far as this stuff goes.

Thats pretty interesting stuff about Superman, havent read the whole article yet, but i didnt realize there was so much drama behind the scenes on that movie. Next time i watch the dvds it will be in a whole new light

Info Wanted: What other LDs are you all transferring?
Time
There were scenes added to the superman dvds? which ones as im not familar with this.

Also, two quick questions to all those that are doing dvd editing/creation

1) is it possible to remove 1 chapter from a dvd, such as an included music video (i know what vob its in) and burn that to its own dvd, something simple that has no menu is fine. If so where can i find a simple tutorial that would help with this (i didnt see one that really applied on doom9)

2) and how easy is it to make your own dvd from a capture video. Obviously the more correcting/editing you do to the picture the more work is involved, but what about transfering home movies to dvd. what kind of software do i need (preferably free versions) and whats a good tutorial to look at (a specific 1 or 2 on doom9, would be more helpful than just a 'check doom9).

thanks for any help

ps sorry for the somewhat off topic post, but im a total beginner (just got a dvd burner, and havent actually gotten a capture card yet) and im interested in learning more about this

Correct, and succinct. Lucas said he changed his mind on the relationship while writing Episode II, thus rendering the novelization of ROTJ not-canon anymore ... at least, not for that page-and-a-half. The books were always supposed to be canon, until Lucas couldn't even stick with that. I think the Episode II relationship works better, but it does throw the canonical nature of the books out the window.

dont worry, once the super special ultimate editions of the book come out lucas will correct all (well most) of the inconsitencies. There will however be a few brand new inconsitencies as well as some spelling and grammer errors. But those are all deliberate artistic decisions. But no one will care because the new digitally enhanced font will bring a new life to the words on the page and allow Lucas to finally release the books as he had always intended but couldnt due to the limits of printing presses in the late 70's early 80's.

What? Who? How?

I fail to see how that makes Padme a whore when she was involved with Anakin and not Obi-Wan OR Owen. In either situation (book or movie) Padme isnt related to anyone but Luke and Leia.

Happy? He has the most evil look in the world on his face. The only time anakin was ever in the movie truely happy (not including the original ending of rotj when he got to gaze upon his son with his own eyes) was when he was a 9 year old boy (and if Lucas had put Jake Loyd as the ghost it would have been less accepted than putting Hayden in)...he is a bitter, angry person in the whole AOTC movie...even when he's with Padme and "happy" he still always has an evil glare on his face.

I know those arent really big vehicles but i didnt really collect the vehicles, and the ones i did get i only have one of and i wanna keep my AT-AT and A-Wing...sorry.

I do also have an extra Stap and Battle droid from the sneak preview figures...and may have some duplicates of the speeder bikes that arent in my database as i bought a few to use in trades that never happened.

Im mainly trying to thin down my collection by eliminating most of the duplicates and stupid minor variations...trying to save some space while keeping my colleciton. I do have duplicates of some of the 3-packs inquire within as to which ones

Actually thats what makes it so bad in my opinion. Obi-wan started to move the saber toward him before he jumped out of the pit. Maul should have been able to detect this use of the force (remember Vader was able to sense Obi-wan on the first death star and Obi wasnt even use the force). So there is no reason Maul should have been taken by suprise by Obi-wan's actions. And even if he was, his response was so slow, a seasoned fighter like Maul would have responded instantly to the movement and probably cut Obi in half on his way up even without being force sensative.

My 2 cents releasing the OT on DVD
Time
First I just wanted to say look who started this post. Some first time poster who hasnt posted anything since. I dismissed his opinion no sooner than i had read it based on this fact and the fact that he is coming onto a board and basically telling the posters that everything this site stands for is wrong. He obviously has no sense in movies as he appears to think that a movies greatness is how its special effects hold up to current day movies.

He says himself that the king kong effects were amazing at the time, so isnt that reason enough to preserve it? So what if they look cheesy today, and you dont have the imagination to watch the movie and see it for its story and 'fear' king kong, all i can say to that is glad im not you.

But based on this argument we should get rid of all the information on those silly room sized computers. I mean compared to a PDA those look 'cheesy' and their not nearly as good (powerful) so why keep any history of them around...Your talking about basically eliminating a piece of history...Star Wars changed the face of special effects, and even though you apparently dont care, some people are interested in seeing the how things were done 'back in the day' before all this technology for cgi came about.

I watched The Day After Tomorrow the other day and their is a scene where they show these wolves in a zoo (the wolves are actually shown later on too, but that doesnt matter) the point is, during their first short scene one of them howled and the first thing that came to my mind was they're cgi, they didnt look real at all. the movement that they gave to the cgi model just looked fake. It just goes to show that cgi isnt always better.

I have a mistake on a Luke Skywalker in Imperial Guard Disguise card from Shadows of the EMpire, where the little cape piece isn't packaged with him. Now bear in mind, this was a while ago (1996?) I e-mailed Steve Sansweet about it and the letter was published in SW Insider, where I remember he was a total smartass. That ended any liking for that guy I could have.

Yeah, I dont really like that Sansweet guy. I had always thought he was just an avid collector and considered an expert as far as Star Wars collectibles goes due to his massive collection and all. But now that i know (i dont know if this was always the case) he works for lucas I kinda feel less awe towards his collection. I vaguely remember reading that letter, at least of the error, cant say i remember his response though.

That reminds me of a figure one of my friends that also collects had. He found a Luke in Stormtrooper, the one packaged on the green card, but the figure inside was a Han in Stormtrooper from the kellogg promotional offer.
