A Black and Tan is Guinness and Bass not Guiness and Harp, i believe thats called a half and half.

But i agree about "American beer" or lager or whatever you want to call it. When i drink beer i do so for the taste, so i want to actually taste the beer (and i dont want that taste to be watered down urine)

I was actually thinking of starting this based on the last few posts in the joke thread, then someone said something.

So i bring you, the beer thread.

Discuss favorite beers, drinks involving beer, new beers you tried or want to try, get opinions on beer. as long as it involves the wonderful beverage we call beer discuss it here

-Darth Simon

p.s. I said beer, so no coors light, bud light, micholobe light or any of those other alcoholic waters unless your discussing how they're not really beer, thats ok

A built in ethernet adapter is cool, i didnt realize they actually enhanced the system (though very slightly), i thought it was just made smaller and sleeker (redesigned) in an attempt to boost sales. though x-box could use a new release with a smaller console

my thoughts on idiots? i wouldnt know where to begin. But yeah, i see people paying more on ebay for things all the time and i just want to reach out and slap them. Other good ones are people that bid on "captured air" from hurricanes. ghosts' of peoples dead relatives, possessed items, and the best of them all....

$10 gift cards that they win for $10.50. Why, just why? It amazes me that these people even know how to use a computer and buy stuff from ebay. I fear for the future of humanity.

Did you see that thing on Sci-Fi channel too?

What thing on the Sci-Fi channel? I seriously was just shooting from the hip with that post, you know, making it up as i went along so to speak. Is that actually a current theory?

why not? if you think about it its highly unlikely that we are the only 'intelligent' life in the universe. the real question becomes why would these aliens want to engage in communications with us

As far as evolution vs creationism...i saw this article online about the formation of the grand canyon and how there are creationist groups that saw it happened in the 6000 years or whatever it was since God created life. Not really sure on the exact details, and i cant seem to find it right now.

I see how there is validity to the lack of existence of transitional sekelatons/fossils to be used to discount evolution, but creationism discounts millions of years of earths existence with their theory. Plus there is sooo much land area that has yet to be explored. I mean think of all the areas that these fossils can exist; under bodies of water (especially if you beleive the whole shifting of the continents thing), in forests (how many digs are there in forests? why couldnt fossils get covered over by trees and other foliage), and even just deeper in the earth. Over time things get covered, so maybe we just havent dug far enough to find this stuff, or maybe natrual events, volcanoes, earthquakes, floods...have destroyed, buried, or such these fossils, i admit that events like that would most likely also wipe out the current people, and the current fossils, and there is no reason that what is left is the newer stuff, but it is a possibility. could be why we're missing said links, because parts are destroyed and since the location is the same we put stuff back together incorrectly.

Just some additional food for thought

I actually havent finished yet. I havent had time to play in a while, but im going darkside. I kinda feel bad about dooming the wookies into eternal slavery, but hey, evil is evil :-p

but speaking of challenges ive currently only leveled twice, when the force you too in the beginning, and then when you first become a jedi. Gonna see how far i can get without leveling.

exactly. and that has no bearing at all on the topic under discussion anyway. Seems to me that you have more of a problem with (your perception of) the American way of life (which you lump, inaccurately) under the heading of capitalism) than you do of the changes MeBeJedi made to the 7? lightsaber frames.

what im wondering is how does that fact that 29% of Americans are fat relate to releasing an illegal bootleg of a dvd, 100% true to the original version or not?

Can we please keep the discussion on topic, though im not even sure what that is anymore.

DanielB, can i polietly request that you drop the whole picasso analogy because as far as helping your argument its doing the complete opposite. Even people that agree with you disagree with you on this analogy.

second, Title crawl argument. So what it was replaced before the entire trilogy was complete, it was still a change to the true original version. Using that argument i can argue that all the changes in the 2004 DVD's are acceptable because they were done before the 6 movie storyline was complete.

thirdly. if my memory serves me correctly Zion stated that he did not sign the petition (if i am mistaken on this my apologies) but even if he did, he is working to clean up any imperfections on the film that it suffered from age and dirt, and finish stuff (and very few minor things, like rotoscoping all the sabers) that lucas would have done had Fox not cut him short as far as production time goes.

Also, is removing sand grains from the tatooine scenes inappropriate, because obviously by filming in a desert lucas intended the sand particles to get on the film and cause damage to the film over time...so fixing that is obviously 'censoring' the original work

The censorship argument... you said, and i quote "And no, censorship is not stoping something from being seen, but rather controlling what is being seen. You can ban something - that isn't strickly speaking censorship. But if you say "yes, you can show this so long as it's like THIS" - that is censorship. "

where is this happening here...how are they controlling what is being shown....did they ever say you have to watch my version and any other bootlegs (and the official releases for that matter) no longer exists. Nope, dont beleive they did. So they arent controlling how anything is viewed. They are only offering an additional version to what already exists, kinda the opposite of censorship dont you think? But from what you said, I guess Lucas IS censoring the original movies, because he is making sure that future generations dont get to see the original version and only get to see his new digitized version (and as far as the existing copies, ok, but its limited, not everyone has them, I had to track down a version of them because my brother had the set, but now that we are grown and on our own, he has the set, so i needed to get my own if i wanted the original, plus lucas knows the VHS copies, and even the laserdisc copies wont last as long as the new dvd versions he released.

if you really are the pure preservationist that you make yourself out to be, than nothing short a direct copy of the original theatrical release should make you happy, and as was established in some other thread, even these prints varied from one another as far as sound mixes. Yeah, you also said how these changes were all from original material and none were digitally tampered with, but thats cause the tech to do so didnt exist (as was stated earlier). So I ask you, is physically cleaning the dirt off the films (which i dont think is even really possible to do without causing more harm) acceptable whereas digitally cleaning it off not. And as for color. So if Leia's dress has a yellowish, or bluish tint to it because of the age of the film is it wrong to restore that to the white that it was when Carrie Fisher was actually wearing the dress? What about color differences cause because of the capturing on film process itself...it can be argued that the picture isnt a true representation so wouldnt any variations that may occur due to that process be considered 'censorship' because it is altering the true color of the dress she wore. not to mention those damn color blind people...how dare their eyes censor the film by removing color or even worse switching two colors. I say lock them all up...there all evil

-Darth Simon

p.s. sorry for the long thread, and none of this is meant as a personal attack at anyone, on anyside of this argument.

I just wrote a really long post, arguably too long, and then when i posted it i got a not available message

Basically i agreed with consumer_x on censorship and offered some definitions.

then went in to say how the changes being made on the version under discussion arent changing the movie and basically the movie has seenmore changes, of greater significance from its theatrical release to the 95 faces edition (the later of which is still considered the O-OT by most people i believe) that anything that they are doing is so minor that its insignificant.

ps. I think this shorter version sum up will actually be more readable and therefore get most, if not all, of my points across just as well if not better. amazing how that works
