while i agree that there are many holidays that are created by the card companies, I think that Father's Day, Mother's Day, and the like should be celebrated...but I dont think its necessary to 'buy' them anything because thats not what the Day is really supposed to be about, and while some/most/all(?) people i think appreciate that card (a symbolism of appreciation is all it really is) what the really appreciate more is for you to just show them that you care and that you really do appreciate all that they do for you. Remember the (badly) hand drawn card you gave your mom/dad when you were 5 years old and how that was enough to make your parents happy, they didnt need expensive gifts and such.

I wasnt able to go to my parents on Father's day because of the distance I now live from them, but I spent about an hour+ talking on the phone with my dad about nothing in particular.

I think think the concept of holidays like this are good, its really just the commercialization that needs to go.

when you say your 'trying to get rid of all these' I take it you mean get rid of all the stuff in the trade list, and that you are trying to get all of the various star wars stuff you listed.

a lot of this stuff is available on myspleen, since your already a member why dont you just download it? or do you not have a dvd burner? if the later is the case, looking at your list, you can still download Mission to Ord Mantell as that is an mp3.

Ok, gonna start by saying i know some of these points have been made, and sorry for repeating but ill try to keep it concise (been some long posts here, and im guilty of it myself

I think Tony is write, Lucas wants to bring Star Wars together as a whole, and honestly there in lies the problem (or part of it anyway) He does all these little things just to make bridges between the two. Yeah, the 'foreshowding' of greedo's untimely demise gave me a chuckle when i saw the scene, but its totally fake, its put in specifically just for that. There is no reason to have greedo in any scene except the one where he gets fried.

Also, greedo being a terrible shot does nothing to make han look better, in fact it could even make him look worse, because he almost got killed by someone that is a pretty shitty bounty hunter (cant aim worth shit) Before, he was so much better than greedo that he had the one up on greedo, plus, he still goes for his gun way early, so he was expecting the possibility of needing it, so why when that time came did it take so long for him to respond that greedo got a shot off even though Han knew it was coming.

Showing Jabba does take away the suprise because the first time we see him is in ROTJ, Jabba wasnt needed in TPM as MagFan showed in his edit. its another one of those forced bridges imho. And as a Film student, you should realize that just because he intended it to be in the film doesnt mean it wasnt cut for good reason. Directors film tons of scenes that they think they want and that end up on the cutting room floor. The scene was cut for good reason, and wasnt even filmed with the design of Jabba as a 'slug' in mind. More reason to not include it because Han is now stepping all over (one of) the most ruthless ganster(s) in the universe. And yes he is bad ass, Does a mob boss go out and do their own hits, or do they have Boba Fetts to do that for them? Jabba is one evil SOB, He's not even afraid of Jedi, but if you dont think he's a bad ass feel free to slap him in the face and see what happens to you. And just cause he runs tatooine doesnt mean he goes to every public event.

Hayden as the ghost: your explanation is flawed, sorry but it is. he was redeemed at the end of ROTJ and was once again a Jedi. So I guess he rose from the dead since he had died physically and spiritually in ROTS. Maybe they should put both ghosts shown, because now he's two people (actually 3, pre sith jedi, sith lord, post sith jedi)

Im sorry that me enjoying the Star Wars movies as I like to, and being a fan the way i want to (be that liking all the movies as is, liking them but having gripes with them) apparently doesnt make me a STAR WARS fan. Do you like every book with the Star Wars name on it? Do you love the Holiday Special. Do you think all the officially licensed Star Wars merchandise is great? if not i guess you're not a STAR WARS fan because you dont like everything Star Wars, your just a Star Wars movie fan.

And yes, changing the movies, without at least making the original versions available (Heck, Lucas says those versions no longer exists which is even worse) is a slap in the face to anyone who fell in love with the OT. It lucas telling you what you fell in love with was incomplete, and that it wasnt good enough. There is no need to update the movies for newer generations. If the movie is truely a classic it will stand that test of time without being updated.

Just checked the Memento DVD, if you have the Limited Edition (not sure if its still available) the second disc has the movie in chronological order. There are the brief 'repeat' scenes from the start/end of each scene, but i dont think it would necessarily improve it to remove those, as it works quite nice the way it is.

Wasnt really about the repeat subject, cause its not like you did it purposly should have seen all the 'duplicate' threads the week after RoTS came out

andij, you can get one of the dvd versions of the holiday special from myspleen which is probably where your getting deleted magic

Darth_Juggalo, go into your profile and there should be an option for 'Enable Private Messages' or something along those lines...just set it to yes, or on, whatever the appropriate setting would be to have it on. (I dont know the exact wording off the top of my head)

Ok, im seeding the Monster Squad iso. Only thing is it says I only have 99.9% so im not sure whats up with that, but since i ripped the iso myself is should be the complete thing. Though windows did decide to install an update and reboot all by itself last night so my computer rebooted and my seeds stopped, not sure when this happened, but i figured it was after it finished ripping the iso, maybe ill try to re-rip it when i get home tonight and see if i can get 100%. There is one other person leaching, which i assume is you, but its not connecting.

that the red cinnamon shcnapps with the crystals in the bottle? or is it something different over there?

if it is yes i've had it. Those crystals are so tasty More of my friends prefer the blue peppermint schnapps 'version' called Avalanche. However most states (at least near me) dont sell it for some reason (they used to) I know you can still get it in NJ though.

Ok, it may have taken me awhile, but im now ripping the dvd (Monster Squad) to an image on my hd. If im still up when it completes Ill try to seed it and see if it works (if im not up Ill do it tomorrow) so check then to see, Ill post the results here either way.

Sorry for the off topic thread, but figured the people that would know the answer to this would be here.

Im trying to make a DVD, its gonna be fairly simple, but I want it to randomly load 1 of 2 pictures for the menu background each time you load the dvd (or each time you go to the menu, either works). Does anyone know if you can do this with consumer grade software and if so how? Im using DVD Lab Pro.

where did he say he didnt want it digitally remastered? I think he's more aiming at being able to do the preservation using the film copy as the source as apposed to laserdisc. I mean, we have people on the board that have shown just as much, if not more talent in the digitally remastering department as Lowery, especially after the official DVD release.
