The Things We Hate And Love Thread .

heh, i actually use a slightly more advanced text editor cause it allows for syntax colorization. But the queries im writing im doing in the query analyzer for the database as its basically colorized notepad and i can just click a button to test it.

What i meant by resource though was information on more sophisticated calls i can do to pull out exactly the information i want/need.

I basically need to pull out some fairly specific information from multiple tables and would really prefer not to have to do multiple passes over the database to get the information i need as it makes printing it out harder and id have to rewrite parts of my code

Subject: Darth played by... (possible spolier?)

Based on careful observation and an interview on NPR, we believe
that the person in the Darth costume (when Luke removes his
helmet just before he dies) is James Earl Jones. Note the
voice and check out the eyes.

They do deserve it, and they deserve MUCH more, I was just saying that the whole meaning behind these days were bought off and commercialized by corporations.

Exactly, they do deserve it, but why should we show our affection to our parents/do things for them only 'once' a year, or only on special holidays.

For that I apologise. I tend to express my insane political views in the most inapropriated moments. Sorry.

yeah, sorry Switch (and any fathers out there), didnt mean to (help) turn your thread into a debate or anything...Hope you all had a great fathers day, and hope you all realize that you really are appreciated on more than just that one day of the year (even if it doesnt always appear that way)

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
I like the look to those...very original. I got an 'ancient text/manuscript' feel from it, and it still uses the classic artwork which i like as well. If i may make one comment/critique though, because of the feeling i got from it some of the text (mainly the definitive collection logo) seems too 'crisp/new'. But other than that I dig them, may have to use those covers for one of my sets.

I take it from the size those are the high res versions.

myspleen.net

I have it, but i dont have the original iso, when i remake an iso it says i only have 99.99% so doesnt list me as a seeder, but the hash check seems to check out for that 99.99% which should in theory work if you burned it since its an image from my disc. My guess is that its just because i ripped the iso with a different software but i dont know.

Ill be willing to 'seed' it and if you want to download it and see what happens go for it, but you may want to just go to the myspleen forums and request a reseed as someone out there probably has the original iso, or maybe someone can reup it as a video_ts folder.

Ill check it periodically so if i seed people on it, ill start my seed and see how that works out if people want.

and its a non-anamorphic widescreen...more info on the torrent detail page

I found DVD Lab Pro isnt too hard to figure out, you just need to play around with it a bit. It also depends on how complicated you want to get...ive only made one very simple dvd so far.

There are some good tutorials out there. I found a couple at videohelp.com and doom9.org while i was playing around with it and trying to find out how to do a few things. There are tutorials ranging from a simple dvd to more complex motion menu's and all the works

Well even as alternate angles their would need to be 2 copies of the movie on each disc if you did it as a three disc set because neither version could reuse parts of the other. and i would prefer it use as much space as possible for the movie to keep the picture as crips as possible.

I figure 6 disc set wouldnt be a problem because they could use 3 dual disc cases that are the same size as regular single disc cases, ive even seen dual disc slim cases so box size wouldnt be an issue (could use the slim cases and throw in a bonus disc or two and the whole set could still be the size of 2 regular size cases.

but another possiblity would be to use dual sided discs, but then you dont get a pretty picture on the disc plus i never know which side needs to be up to get which version (mainly discs that have full/widescreens on the dual sided disc, i swear they arent consistent in this regard).

Id buy something along this lines in a heart beat, it could be like the super collectors edition and have a case in the shape of a Death Star or something, that be amazing.

if its one questin that he will answer truthfully I think i would simply ask if he is ever going to release the theatrical versions on dvd. Or maybe why he denies their existence?

I agree as well. The special editions should have just been the most extensive clean up of the films ever, removing matte lines and all that but not actually adding any special effects and/or scenes.

that would make a nice (the perfect?) 6 disc set. first 3 discs a nice cleaned up set of the OOT, no changes, just special effects tweaked to remove any technical "glitches" as RowMan so nicely called them. and the second 3 discs to have pretty much straight transfers of the films that were shown in theaters when the movies were first released (id even say the cleaned up version has the ANH in the crawl, and the uncleaned version have just the original crawl, but maybe a selectable crawl)

Sorry to just barge in on your conversation BTW.

Damn well better be sorry

heh, no glad to have your input to the conversation.

I think it would be great if a digital copy of the film could be made. But like i said, I dont think they give access to the archival copies at all, maybe if you were a very well respected/world renowned film presevationist or something you would be able to see it, but even then from what Im told making copies would be impossible unless you could of course find some employee thats willing to 'bend the rules' for you 'off the record' or course.

But as im sure people know, each time you watch the film you degrade it, so It would be really hard to get the LoC to let you view their archival copy. We can dream though right? I for one am relieved to some extent knowing that a copy (or two) of the original Star Wars movies is exists (well very likely exists) and is in the hands of a place like the LoC where its gonna be preserved using the utmost care and best methods available. Even though I may never get to see it, its just comforting to know its not totally lost.
