Somewhat off topic, for which i apologise, but does anyone here have the Episode I monopoly board game. I have a copy unopened from my collecting days, and two copies of the OT monopoly (one open, one sealed). But Im considering opening the Ep I board, cause a friend of mine had it and we played on it once, the set up, with the way the property cards slide in the board and where the houses/hotels go is so incredibly nice...one of the nicests designs of a monopoly board ive ever seen (actually its probably the nicests).
I tend to keep only official releases on my dvd shelf (mainly cause i dont have room on my current shelf for all my official discs as it is). After i get my own place i plan on buying a bigger shelf and ill prob use my current shelf for anime and get a new bigger one for official discs. though i may keep anime on the bigger shelf and use the small one for bootlegs/transfers.
I also store my dvds in the order i bought them (with the exception that i keep
as far as what star wars discs I have on my shelf, its currently my Dr. Gonzo set, cause that was the first one i got, and I have them in cases that match the official Ep 1 & 2 discs so they look all pretty on the shelf. My official OT discs are off to the side in the box. Ill prob leave it like that cause I dont like the way the OT cases have silver (or platinum) for widescreen and the PT has gold. I like the all gold.
Since its a UK release not sure if this helps with any info on it, but the laserdisc copies that the LOC has for star wars, the earliest they got one was in 83. I would think they would have gotten a copy earlier if was available, but not sure if they would 'import' a UK release to do so. Dont know if that helps or anything, but thought i would throw that info out there in the discussion.
ps. Slightly off topic, but I did have my whole LOC thread but not sure where it went, in it i gave info on the various copies the LOC has. It doesnt show a 79 version, but like i said, dont know if the LOC deals in UK releases.

DAYV, next time im at my parents ill go through the collection and see what i have doubles of (I havent actually done this even though ive had them for a few years now, I kept track of what i was missing, and once i got the complete set i didnt cataloge the dups). Once i get the list ill send you a PM or email with the list. (maybe i can get my brother to go through them for me since he's at my parents). Then you can forward what you dont want to Sessler, or ill contact him after.
I like the 89 batman too, but ive not yet seen Begins.
ADigitalMan: I like storing my dvds on a shelf. Im proud of my collection and like the response a wall full of dvds gets My current shelf is actually overflowing (as ive stated in another thread) and im either gonna buy a nice big one or build an elaborate one (i have some pretty crazy ideas for one) when i get my own place. I also keep all my dvds on the shelf in the order that I got them, its getting harder now, but i used to know the entire order by heart, and could tell when/what i was missing (when someone borrowed one) just buy looking at the shelf.
Ill probably hold off on this dvd for the box set you know they will release after the whole trilogy (they are planning 3 right?) is done. I like box sets
Hulk Hogan (Santa With Muscles) Don Stark (Peggy Sue Got Married) Nicholas Cage (The Rock) Sean Connery (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) Harrison Ford
or i could have went with
Hulk Hogan (Muppets From Space) Frank Oz
but then i wouldnt have been able to use Santa with Muscles
ok, dont think this one is all that hard, but I had to pick it cause his place of birth is my home town
as far as some of moth3r's comments, while some i think are valid, i think your 'over-thinking' some parts of it.
1) agreed the few would imply 3-5 years, but I agree with Rebel11_38 about the term present being 'flexible'
2) they didnt have re-programmed T-800's they had one T-800 that they managed to capture and reprogram to send back to the past. and that wasnt available to them when the first terminator was sent back. Why the covered it the same as the one in the first movie, well a) they didnt necessarily know what the t-800 unit looked like, and you have to assume their access to the robot's arsenal was limited at best, and they had little of their own supplies to use to make coverings for the terminator, so im sure the machines had more than one 'look' for the terminator. plus, most of the time they fought as machines, that was only for infiltration.
3) time machine, do we know that they succeeded in destroying the time travel facility? nope. machines could have defended it. how do the humans know that was the only facility? why couldnt the machines be able to build another one? why couldnt this new facility be more advanced and allow liquid metal terminators to pass through?
4) not that i dont agree that the quiet terminator made a good portrayal of the relentless killer, but remember, reprogrammed. especially after the inhibitor chip was removed.
5) any (well their might be a few exceptions) time travel movie is filled with paradoxes. there are so many interpretations of time travel that its mind boggle to even think about them or what the effects would be. Even though they have the no fate but what we make, that someone said was 'abandoned' in 3. if the Machines didnt send back the terminator, john wouldnt have sent his father back, john wouldnt have been born, and the machines would have had no reason to send a terminator back. same thing with the arm in the factory. I think in the extended (might be the 'hidden' cut, on the T2 disc, not the more recent one, but the Ultimate one i think it was) the ending leaves the future open, never says that judgement day was prevented. (as i think the theatrical ending does) So i think a lot of this is open to interpretation, and the thing is more than one works. You can say that they are changing the future, or you can say that they are only playing their parts in what is bound to happen. thats what 3 seemed to say, but the only real problem is the fact that judgement day was still delayed. which makes the war at the end of 3 different than the war in the first. I think someone mentioned it, but if you remove references to the delayed judgement day, and make it only be the one judgement day it would work. I also think that Rebel11_38's idea for a quadrilogy woul be pretty interesting and have a good flow as well. But like i said, its about interpretation of the timeline (which is the case in any movie that touches on time travel, should see if i can find my time travel thread from a while back) the more sequals/prequals you make on the same idea, the more paradoxes you are bound to introduce, especially with the 'future is set' type timeline.
about 6 years ago i finally finished my set (was prob only building it for about a year/year and a half) of the whole run of marvel star wars comics. I have a few duplicates because i bought some in bulk auctions. If people would be interested in the dupilcates Ill pull them out and see which ones i have next time im at my parents.
Really? I purposly waited on that set untill all three were out cause i knew there was gonna be a box set.
I hate it when movies come out, I like it, buy the disc and then like 3 years later they make a sequal. Blade comes to mind. at least with LOTR i knew there were 3 movies and could hold off buying them for the box set.
doesnt he still have one movie left in his contract? I think i heard that somewhere. And also, he did Mrs. Doubtfire before he was Bond
but on topic, i think this is currently one of the funnier threads on the board. You know MagFan (and maybe even Kevin Smith, if they are infact 2 different people ) are reading the last few posts laughing.
I enjoy the comic movies, and I dont think the problem is necessarily that hollywood jumps on the 'whats successful' bandwagon, its the fact that they dont realize that its not just the fact that its X-Men or Spider-Man, its also because the movie was well done and didnt totally bastardize the comic. The movie wast successful soley because of the lead actor or because its based on a popular comic...the movie was successful because it was a good and appealed to fans and non fans alike.
well if your getting two and dont want the other two its not worth the set, but to me 'some' implies 2 or 3, and also on the dvdanswers site the comments seemed like some people there are thinking about all but batman and robin, in which case at MSRP its cheaper to get the box set.
plus if your a completest like me (its a weakness sometimes) you like the whole saga in a nice box (even if you maybe didnt like one of the movies) (somewhat off topic, it would be nice if the studio made the boxes available through a mail in offer for those that bought it seperatly, make use of the multiple copies of proofs of purchase they have on each disc)
but either way, their expensive dvds. $27 a disc is pretty steep. I mean I've taken advantage of deals where ive gotten 5 dvds for 50 (actually 45 cause i got %10 off in addition) and another where i got 6 for $40, granted this deal didnt have the largest selection to choose from, but enough that i could find dvds to get, plus a few that I had wanted for a while. Ill probably get the box but ill wait for it to drop in price some.
if you buy 3 of movies you might as well get the box set as its the same price (dvd answers says $27 per disc). plus im sure online retailers will have the individual movies and the set cheaper than $27 and $80. cause no way im paying $80 for 4 movies.
Hey DAYV, was looking at some dvds online and saw the 'Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection' that is coming out and as it appears to be a slightly different box set than the previous one, i had a few questions i was hoping you (or maybe some Bruce Lee fan) could answer.
in its contents (from what ive found) its lists 'Fists of Fury' and 'The Big Boss' but from what i could find online (imdb and a dvd description in the old box set) these movies are the same. It says that Fists of Fury is also known as 'The Big Boss'. So does it have two copies of the same movie or are these sources (one is dvdanswers.com) wrong?
and the other thing is more general. do you have (or can you get) confirmed contents of this box set? One place said Game of Death and Game of Death II but another said Game of Death and a Game of Death bonus disc. Would be nice to know whats in this set (how many discs and what they are).
Thanks.
Also, since im here, from what ive read in other posts, is the new ghostbusters set not worth getting (should i get the old releases instead) and any plans for a widescreen release of Toy Soldiers
