***The Official NON-Star Wars FAN EDIT*** Release Thread
Time
Rikter, some (most) of ADM's work is also available on DL discs.

may I suggest that in addition to the 1 DVDr you mention if its a single or dual layer disc, and maybe make a note on the ones that are available in both forms.

additionally, if there is a thread dedicated to the edit (Batman & Robin De-Assified for instance) maybe include a link to that thread as its usually a good source for more info and reviews on the edit (if you can find it easily that is)

To be fair i dont think he actually killed any of the villians.

Joker - he was gonna kill him but didnt, joker ended up dying when trying to pull batman off the ledge with him.
Penguin - cant quite remember how he died, but think it was a similar situation to the joker.
Catwoman - has 9 lives, iirc they showed her at the end so she was still alive
Two Face - fell while reaching for his coin. his own fault, batman's intentions were to distract him so he could save himself and the others.
Riddler - was put in Arkym (sp?) asylum
Poison Ivy - put in Arkym
Freeze - put in Arkym
Bane - probably put in Arkym, dont think they showed this, but he was just released of the venom, he wasnt killed.

*edit* all i remember for the Penguin's death is him floating in the river and the penguins around him. i think they 'put him out to sea'. how exactly did he die?

Most Underrated Console System
Time
I never actually played the saturn. I was one of those that fell into the 'its bad cause thats what i hear group' though thats not really the reason i never played it, only part of it. I had most other systems, and the games available for the saturn, for the most part, werent the type i played at the time. I (my little bro) do have a dreamcast and that has some good games to it, i have nothing agains sega though nintendo will always be number 1 for me. I also have the virtual boy. I liked the system, we rented it from blockbuster once, i wanted it then so a couple years ago got one from ebay...need to get some more games. besides mario tennis and wario world, the boxing game was great.

there are actually variations on that code. you can see some other codes here http://www.classicgaming.com/mdb/m1/passwords.htm

but the best is the code generator, available at that site in the fan apps section or just get it from here, right click and save as you may want to go to the site and get the checksum calculator too. if its the same code generator i downloaded like 3 years ago you wont need it, but i dont know if it is.

how is driving a God given right? its a privilage. I dont know the who and why of your situation, but doesnt change the fact that it is a privilage and not a right? especially seeing as how man invented cars/driving.

but speaking of driving, i hate getting a six inch spike in my run-flat tire. thus giving me a flat that the run-flat isnt even able to drive on. so then I have to spend a ton of money and drive all around to get it replaced and spend 2.5 hours at the dealership for them to replace it.

I also hate how after getting that fixed, I then have a rock or something hit my window giving me a nice crack right in front of the drivers side, so now ill probably have to spend even more money to get that fixed

i was gonna mention who framed roger rabbit (think it was zion that mentioned it), i used a code to get to the last level but still dont think i beat it. that game was hard.

i got to like 8-2 i think in the real super mario 2 (lost levels on the mario all stars for snes) and couldnt get past that.

TMNT was hard, I dont remember if i beat it, some of what Jay said wasnt familiar, but I thought i did beat it with help of the maps, the bomb on the dam level was hard.

me and my brothers got nintendo power, so when things got hard we sometimes had level maps, those were pretty handy

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)

A few people have brought up this "issue" to me, and I've never understood the problem. Obi Wan and Yoda clearly meditate and perform some kind of Force trick at their death. That's why their body disappears. But their clothes do not disappear, just their body. Darth Vader is not much more than a suit with a couple man parts inside. When he gets burned -- they don't reveal what happens to what's left of Annakin's body until, lo and behold, his ghost reappears. Qui-Gon and the other Jedi, of course, have no time to meditate and do any Force tricks before they're struck down -- hence no "ghosts." Any contact with Qui-Gon is different, occuring from across the threshold of death in a unique way.

Why is this simple interpretation of what's already there incorrect?

this is pretty much how ive always viewed it. I never thought it (the whole ghost/dissapearing thing) a problem until reading people complain about it on this board.

that said, i really like some of Commander Courage's suggestions about having Qui-Gon talk to Anakin\Obi-Wan. Especially the ones for TPM, because like he said, Qui-Gon is not dead yet at that point, so its more of a force connection and Obi-Wan wouldnt really question it, and it can make Anakin look less like he just accidently destroyed the control ship. And all the suggestions for what he says are actually already said in the movie, so its not hard to get the dialogue plus like the Commander said, it could be talking from beyond, telepathic communication between force sensative people, or simply the person being talked to recalling words of wisdom/teachings from Qui-Gon.

Post count: soon to be made irrelevant.
Time
I think this idea has merit. It has potential to eliminate alot of the junk posts that have been causing problems lately.

As far as the Jedi/Sith Rankings and post titles. Besides the custom titles will there still be a hierarchy to the titles. And how would progression through these levels work? would one have to move sequentially through them or will one (if their peers approve) be able to move up skipping levels.

Also, does someone have to be nominated to recieve a new rank or can they request to be considered for a rank? I guess this would add a new section where people can go to see who is up for nomination and then vote (once per user) on what rank or if they are approved for the rank? How long would the voting last, and is their any additional criteria besides just being nominated for the rank by your peers?

sorry for so many questions. I do like the idea, but am also interested in some specifics on how you forsee it working , if you have even thought it out that far yet.

I do think this de-emphasis on post count will help reduce spam, though im sure there will be people who will continue to post just to raise their post count, but in my opinion this will make it less of a competition (at least a competition that is based purely on number of posts, as you will need quality posts for your peers to vote for your rank to increase).

and there in lies the problem. most parents (make sure you read that i said most, not all) dont bother to research the games they buy their kids. they even ignore the rating level put on the game, but then when their kid 'mimics' the game (not that im saying video games cause violence, if someone goes on a killing spree after playing gta they were obviously in need of help before hand and i dont think not playing gta would have prevented it) or the parents find out about the 'inappropriateness' (its only inappropriate for the ages its not intended for, so it should be a non issue if parents paid attention) of the game then they scream to high heaven and go off and blame the video game company or the movies or whatever else is the current 'in scapegoat' so they can avoid the truth that maybe they are just bad parents and should pay more attention to what their children do or just not have children because they cant handle them and use video games and such as a 'babysitter'

basically i agree with chaltab's statement about the anti-video game crowd ignoring the facts.

Brosnan is no longer Bond, Daniel Craig is now Bond.

I see what your saying about not alienating the older/existing fan base but from the article it looks like they are taking Bond to his roots. Like I said, I've only read one book and it was so long ago i dont remember it, plus it wasnt Casino Royal. Was Casino Royal the first book? Im sure some of you have read it. Id be interested in some comments from those that read it regarding the article, particularly this part:
Quote

Writer Paul Haggis recently told the Hollywood Reporter: "We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28 - no Q, no gadgets."

In the 1953 Casino Royale book, the spy was introduced as a more youthful, realistic and cold character than he has since become in the films.

off topic, the last thing ill say about this stupid 'All your ____ belong to us'

You must use the singular of any noun in the "All your base" formula in order for it to work.

umm, Tom Hanks being a name, is singular.

actually his name is Tom Hanks

I wonder if they will actually cast someone in their late 20's to play bond seeing as thats the age of the character in the story. Id imagine from that article that they will be going with someone younger then Brosnan is, but how much younger do you think.

I need to read Ian Flemmings novels, ive read one back years ago and enjoyed it. I love the whole secret agent thing and from what people are saying here the books make Bond to be a fairly different character then the movies. This new movie could be interesting. from that article it seems that this is Bond's first mission, is that correct?

***The ADigitalMan non-Star Wars DVD Info and Feedback Thread***
Time
daveytod, when nero first loads up it has a selection of various kinds of discs you can burn. (ie, data cd, audio cd, data dvd, video dvd, etc) when you select the video dvd option it allows you to select the vob and ifo files for the dvd and burns them as a dvd that is playable in a stand alone player. when these files are burnt on the dvd, if you look at the folder view of the final dvd all the files will be in a video_ts folder

Im not sure exactly what version of nero you use, but earlier versions would show you the video_ts and audio_ts folder when you select the video dvd option. In these versions just drop the vob files into the video_ts folders. In the later versions it seems to default to adding the files into the video ts folder.

basically, if you are dragging the vob files into nero, as long as you are selecting the video dvd option. if everything is burning correctly you're problem with the menus is probably then caused by what ADigitalMan referred to in his post.

What does the folder view of your burnt dvd look like? Does your resulting dvd play in a stand alone dvd player? and if it does, does the movie start up right away when you put it in the dvd player? if it does try hitting the menu button on your dvd players remote and see if it brings up the menu or hit the audio button and see if it switches to the dark side of the moon synch.

hope this helps

In addition to what ADigitalMan said, if that is the case, hitting the menu button on you dvd controller should bring you to the menu. Or simply pressing the audio button should switch it to the next audio track.

maybe try it on your computer and see how the disc behaves there, or a different dvd player if you have access to one.
