I never liked the droopy eyed windows, as not only did it look non-threatening but were actually quite useless can the guys piloting REALLY see anything outside of those things?).

The AT-ST's windows do make sense if the opponents are about as large as the walker and at some distance.

I don't think the AT-ST was designed to have the enemies scurrying around the walker's feet ... and the movie kind of made a point about that. :D

I think it makes sense for the pilots to have opened the windows to see the outside as it is, even though they had been told not to. They are human, after all.

I think the idea of having a force-field over the window also makes sense.

Another thing that could be improved could be the thickness of the window lids. They look like baking trays from this angle.

It is not, but I am sure that he wished he was.. Gino is an hardcore OOT purist, and can sometimes be quite obnoxious about that, so good luck getting him in on this project ...

The 2004 DVD colours are horrible and that shot doesn't match any other in the sequence.

I was only comparing these three images to eachother. The lighting just feels wrong - the brightness and hazyness of the surrounding vs. the contrasts of the walker's features.

I agree of course with that continuity between shots is more important and I realise that you have to work with what you have.

i can't understand what you mean about Luke's speeder because it isn't in the shot.

I was referring to the dark features half covered by snow, just ahead of the walker. It can be seen in the GOUT and the 2004 DVD version, but you have removed it in your version. Does that not look like a speeder to you? A T-47 without a canopy, perhaps.

Sorry, but I think the colors in the image on the far right looks best, actually. But then, I am watching this on a PC with different gamma than a television.

There is one thing that bugs me, though: It is illogical for Luke's airspeeder to be in the left in the picture, when he is clearly running after the AT-AT. The airspeeder should be on the right in the shot, if at all.

In the images on the left, there is still a boulder left from the 2004 image that I think stands out.

If anyone has seen the www.pinkfive.com spots, could it be conceivable to get the guy who does their Obi-Wan impersonations to dub over Ewan's lines? Ewan is one of the better actors in the PTs, but that's not saying much. It wouldn't just be a matter of having someone who sounds even more like Alec Guinness but also someone who could impart a little more seriousness...

Whoever you get to impersonate Alec Guinness, I think that he should try to impersonate the voice of Alec Guinness in an earlier work, when he was younger. I think that the tone of voice that Obi-Wan uses as Luke's mentor would be inappropriate for most of the prequels, as he is not in that role and in other circumstances.

But if Bobba is still around (and his voice was changed) then the Stormtroopers should still have Jangas voice no?

Clone troopers aged at double rate, Boba at single rate.

According to PT canon, the Kaminoan cloners kept Jango - the original - around so that they could copy his genetic makeup when they needed to.

With Jango dead and Boba obviously keeping his distance from the Republic, they can not do this any more.

The cloners need someone else for their template, or the stormtroopers are recruits like in much of the EU.

The buildings are tilted towards the viewer. They had obviously been "shot" at a tilted angle originally.

In this shot, the camera is level and at eye-height. If you draw a horizontal line from the trooper's eyes, a circular row of windows above this line should not be curving down in the middle as they do on the left.

Instead of black it is cool to have a bespin in the distance as the falcon leaves from the antenna that luke was.

-Angel

would be awesome to see the city shrink away as if the falcon flies away imediatly as not to lose a single second of opportunity.

.. or how about the underside of Cloud City. First zoom out, then scroll by faster and faster as the Falcon accellerates.

There is a missing window.

I mentioned this months ago. I suggested that the last of the open windows be painted over with white (easier than opening a window), but my suggestion was turned down.

force Kick

The guy being kicked could be moved to the right and behind the railing to begin with. I think that would be easier to do than to move Luke forwards.

Then the victim could be moved slightly left as a result of the kick to make it look as powerful to the victim as the throwing of the blaster is ...

I find the kick itself to look a little wimpy. Maybe when it actually hits the victim would the leg movement look better.

The ANH:SE Redux Ideas thread (Radical Ideas Welcome).
Time

Good suggestions, Marlonius!

Personally, I don't agree with all the creative decisions that Adywan made, as well as things done in the SE.

 • Adywan recolored all blue Rebel "bird" emblems on pilot helmets red. I think that the color of the emblem on the "generic" helmets should be that of the squadron: Red squadron have a red emblem, Blue Squadron have a blue emblem and Gold Squadron (yellow Y-wings) have a yellow emblem matching the yellow stripes on their Y-wings.
 • I don't like the Sandtroopers' flying probe droid. Could it be edited away?
 • Adywan and crew did a great job on the new Pilot briefing graphics, but I would have preferred it to stay white instead of red.
 • Could the Wolfman be put back into the Cantina?

I don't like the idea of Jabba in ANH at all. There are many reasons that I think make that scene do not work.

If we put the changes aside for a bit, there are also more things left that Adywan did not tweak:

 • There is still one shot of Rebel Fleet Troopers which is flipped, with the helmet radio box on the wrong side.
 • Stormtrooper with black gap between his calf pieces on the Tantive IV.
 • Although Han Solo's blaster is never seen up close more than once, the prop he used in the closeup in the cantina is significantly different than the one he used in all the other scenes.
 • Luke's pilot helmet has a different color scheme in the scene in the hanger when he is talking to Han.

It could be much better. There are too many sounds, too loud, and I don't think they are all appropriately chosen.

Another thing that I have thought of recently, for ROTJ:

The Aurebesh glyphs originate from computer screens from ROTJ, but they did not have any meaning. West End Games mapped the aurebesh glyphs to latin letters, and their aurebesh system was used for the signs in the prequels and the changes in the DVD versions of the OT.

The problem is that the computer screen read-out in ROTJ did not mean anything. Interpreted by the WEG Aurebesh, it is gibberish.

I propose that the text will be changed into something meaningful.

s you may be able to just make out the falcon now heads away from the executor on the right hand side instead of just heading to the right as it did originally. It is also animated with TIE fighters chasing it firing lasers.

If it is heading right, and Vader is standing by the front face of the viewport looking forwards, then the entire viewport section that we are seeing must be facing starboard?

I was under the impression that there was only one bridge section, and it was facing forwards.

the whole problem with the vent and the position of the carbon chamber , i really don't know how i'm going to tackle this. in the cutaway illustrations they have placed the carbon chamber in the dome above the window, but this doesn't make sense as where the hell are the corridors that luke followed Liea and the gang through before being elevated upwards into the carbon chamber. it all doesn't make sense at all. the only idea i had is that before he enters the small tunnel, instead of seeing the last few frames of him climbing down a ladder, that i add him coming out of some sort of lift, but that still doesn't really sort out the problem. I'm probably going to have to redesign the whole vane matte shots to try and bring some believability to the whole sequence.

Because the corridor with the window is curved, I have always had the impression that the corridor goes around the shaft. I have also thought that the vane did not protrude that much from the wall, but I see now in the pictures that it does.

The dotted line in the figure would show how Luke fell ... It is a very big drop, yes. We could explain this with Luke using The Force to dampen his fall. It is strange, but I think that Luke must have used The Force to dampen his fall in any scenario that we can think of. Any real human (i.e. without Force abilities) could not fall two stories and catch a railing. That happens only in the movies.

Maybe if you could move the vane closer to the wall, thereby diminishing the scale of the shaft somewhat, this could feel more consistent.

Star Wars: The Musical???
Time

All that I have read indicates that it will be like the "A Musical Journey" DVD that was bundled with the ROTS soundtrack, only performed live.

A narrator will tell what happens. Then there will be live music, performed by a symphony orchestra and a choir, while segments from the movie is shown on a big screen in the background. Then there will be some narration again, followed by another music+movie segment, and so on... Duration: 2 hours. The story of all six films is told.

I find it unlikely that Ian McDiarmid is going to be the narrator this time, or that John Williams himself will be conducting. We can only hope.

More links with info:

Tickets are out now, for the event on London's O2 arena. It is suppose to go on tour over Europe later. We'll see.

For those who have not heard the Star Wars score live: I was lucky to be able to go to a concert with John Williams' music earlier this year, and I found it to be awesome! Too bad though that the ticket price this time will start at £30 and go up to £100. The event I was on was considerably cheaper.

when Lando goes up to rescue Luke he travels up what seems like 15 feet of interior, and through three hatches. Take out the first hatch. It screws up the scale of the Falcon.

Really? Compare to the length that Luke has to climb to get to the gun turret in ANH.

The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

The Imperial uniforms were already present at the end of Episode III. And we have no on-screen evidence what was worn before the Clone Wars started.

Did the Republic even have a fleet before Episode II?

There were two pilots on the cruiser that delivered Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to the Trade Federation battle station in the first scenes of Episode I. We got a brief glimpse of the pilots from the front: they wore a navy-blue version of the Imperial uniform.

According to various books, the ship: Radiant VII belonged to a fleet of ships used by the Republic to carry diplomats around the galaxy.

.. back to the series:

I was able to see the first two episodes on-line on Cartoon Network's website, and I liked them!
Then Cartoon Network cut us non-USians off from seeing them (any episode), which is something that puts me off.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

You're making me hungry!

I had a thought after reading the latest posts.. so I watched the Battle of Hoth again. I think that we see the Rebels getting their asses handed to them during most of the battle, really...
... but the Empire does not look mighty enough when doing so.

The shot of the fleet entering the Hoth system is not very imposing. If it could not be remade, then maybe it could be improved.
There are a couple of TIE fighters here that look like they are turning in a wide arc around one of the ISDs ... but they are out of scale by turning too soon, which makes the Star Destroyers look smaller. The TIE fighters should become tiny spots in the distance over the SSD before they start to turn.

The end of the battle is where we would get the most opportunity to show the might of the imperial forces. However, there are a few things that are oddly timed, or just look weird.

- The shot where an AT-AT shoots at a Snowspeeder at point blank range is kinda weird, and it is also after the height of the Snowspeeder battle. I think it should be earlier.

- Right before Veers asks for the distance to the power generators, we see two shots: one outside the walker and one the view from inside the walker. There are not as many fleeing Rebel soldiers in the outdoors shot as there are seen from the inside.

- It is quite a short time after Veers hits the power generator that we see Vader walking around inside the base.

Maybe these shots could be rearranged so that Veers blows up the power generators before the shots of the AT-ATs chasing fleeing soldiers. Then we could see Imperial landing craft approaching in the distance behind then.

The combined shot of fleeing Rebels in the foreground, a shooting group of AT-ATs in the center and landing craft in the background could be the very shot that makes the impression.

Also, it would be understood that Vader is on board the landing craft.

He has no story in ROTJ, no reason to be there.

Boba Fett is in ROTJ so that Han Solo can get back at him. Offing him in the way he does it is the ultimate humiliation.

2) Some evidence of construction vehicles working on the Death Star (this thing is meant to be being built in haste but we see little evidence of it).

How about some specks in space, near the unconstructed parts of the Death Star. That would do the effect, but not be obtrusive.

8) The comedy droid torture scenes need to go.

Oh yes. I think that most of the scene should be kept. The dialogue is useful, in that it explains why R2-D2 is not present in Jabba's throne room, but the sounds of and exclusive shots of droid torture are not.

Somehow GL seems to think that watching droids and aliens being in pain is amusing to watch. It started with this scene in ROTJ and got taken to the extreme in some parts of TPM ....

Give the Ewoks some eyelids and some fierce looking facial expressions, hide the obvious moments where the suits look like suits and after a while even the most avid Ewok hater will grow to like them.

If the Ewoks through clever manipulation and editing could be made to look less like cute merchandising prospects and more like a genuine species with a full range of emotional responses, they would be more believable as a fighting force that could take on the Empire.

Absolutely!

I think it is important to get across that the Ewoks, although primitive by galaxy standards, are both fierce and organized. Not cuddly!

Wipe off their permanent smiles from their faces. Let us see them move their lips instead of just gesturing. Let us see fangs!

Could we lose Han and Threepio's comedy turn about the supplies

No way! I love that!

Mostly, I think that you want to change too much! I believe that this movie would be more work for Adywan than both ANH and ESB combined. It seems like what you want is a whole different movie instead of the same movie improved.

A suggestion that I saw in an unrelated thread on the board:

* If possible, let us see Luke cut off more limbs when he starts slashing on the sail barge. "It looks like he is using a bat, not a lightsaber".
