STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Ady is seriously gonna need a break after all this. Vaderois' speeder engine flaps mock-up looks really cool. :)

Btw, I was thinking - can Vader's hologram do with a tiny bit of work (the one where he appears before General Veers during the Hoth ground assault)? Maybe it can be sharper; with Vader's helmet looking better, and the hologram can flicker a bit.

I actually enjoyed the PT tbh. I think being 9 when The Phantom Menace came out has something to do with it. But I do realise that they need colour correcting - the Battle of Geonosis in 'Clones', for example, should look more dirty and not the shade of orange that we see in the film. Story-wise, I liked the prequels; sure some of the acting could have done with some work, but that never really bothered me. But yeah - Jar Jar is lame.

However when I do compare both trilogies, I think that the PT should be more like the OT in terms of colour correction, though the OT should have some cool angles and new shots within it's space battle scenes to match the spectacle of the PT; whilst not over-doing it.

I was thinking that someone should do a mock-up of the Executor being more closer to the Death Star II, with the whole battle raging on right near it. We've seen quite a lot of the Throne Room, though we could do with some more to see which of them are the best :)

Would this quickie be sufficient. Notice the window now has sheilds LOL.

I got the window online and tweaked it a bit. . For the movie someone should just do a new matte.

Now that's what I'm talking about! :D

Great rough outline, and exactly the kind of thing I had in mind. Thanks for the mock-up; and the window 'shield' is a novel approach :)

Maybe one from the Executor looking out at the Death Star II? (i.e when that Imperial says 'We're not going to attack?')

But when you get back I want to see some badass mockups.

Oh and btw EyeShotFirst, your post was at '11:38AM' according to my time zone (though it's an hour early for some reason). But still a nice unintentional THX reference all the same :)

good point! ill face palm myself later!:P

it would be cool having dark/light contrasting alot within the throne room perhaps. add drama perhaps, like luke is ascending the stairs to the emperor, who is shrouded in a white purifying energy. i dont know.:P what if the star of endor is brightly visible throughout the battle? dark/light contrasts would be visible throughout the battle with the silhouettes?

Hehe :)

Anyway you have a pretty good point about having some form of dark/light contrast; it would definitely add to the swirling emotions of the duel. As the planet orbits the Death Star there shoud be a change of contrast within the throne room. Great idea ben_danger :)

it would be pretty intense if a sun was visible, or the explosion of the executor giving a blinding light perhaps? the blinding light could be used to one of the combatants advantages?

Well by the time the Executor exploded into the Death Star II, the shield was down by then and the Emperor was thrown down that shaft by Vader - so the duel would have been over.

It could be some other kind of explosion like an additional rebel ship blowing up perhaps.

When I got ANH R I never touched my 2004 dvds again. They are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

Same here :)

Though if I do want to listen to Lucas and co talk about ANH I do actually listen to their commentary on the 2004 DVD, other than that ANH:R is the definite version of Episode IV for me. I had a great Star Wars Trilogy marathon with it :)

By the time ROTJ:R is released, I'll have a marathon with all of the Trilogy - revisited style :)

Vader's voice hasn't had a subwoofer channel added. I added an extra layer with a robotic type filter and gave it a 1 frame delay and also lowered the pitch very slightly. this extra layer mixed with the original gave Vaders voice a very subtle difference to match it closer to the ESB voice.

You're a genius dude :)

Ady, I read (again) that Vader's voice was enhanced from the GOUT to the DVD release to make it sound more like the rest of the saga, and I remember you saying that you further enhanced it. Any chance of you (or anyone) throwing together a "side-by-side" audio comparison?

I always remembered that in the original, Vader's voice sounded kind of tinny, but the Official DVD and Ady's sound better and have more bass. It sounds like Ady's added a subwoofer to it like he did with the lighsabers.

Edit - Oh wait, Vaderois has already said something about a subwoofer being added :)

I was given State Of Play (the television version) for my birthday a few days back and was suprised to see Michael Pennington AKA JerJerrod in the last couple of episodes.

I will have to see it again (it is bloody good anyway) to see if there is any dialogue that can be borrowed from it.

I take it you mean dialogue that can be inserted into ROTJ:R?

I've heard of State of Play btw, I read something about it on IMDB. :)

He only took off the helmet. (The idea that he only burned the suit is EU and can be disregarded if an editor desires.)

I agree. I find the thought of Luke undressing his dead father a bit unsettling.

LOL I meant that Ken Colley, who plays Piett, plays Jesus in Life of Brian. Wasn't touching on symbolism and I don't think Star Wars is necessarily allegorical at all, however much it may have been inspired by historical events. (eg. Palpatine's rise echoes any number of historical dictators, from Caesar to Hitler, but isn't meant to represent any particular one.)

I found it mildly amusing in the ESB DVD commentary track when Lucas seems to have a Freudian slip and refers to the Imperials as "the Nazis." I forget where exactly.

He says it when Piett informs Vader that the Emperor wants to make contact with him, and when Vader says: 'Move the ship out of the asteroid field....'

Out of all the commentaries TESB has the best one. Irvin Kershner is hilarious, especially when he calls C-3P0 'that stupid robot' after he interrupts Han and Leia's kiss.

I think someone made a mock up picture of glowy hot metal saber cuts during the Vader/Luke duel. I'm too lazy to locate them in this thread though.

Fucking Windows 98!

Thanks Vaderois - that's what I'm talkin' about :)

Luke's amputation looked a bit fake - but on that mock-up it looks like how Anakin was amputated in EpII.

I think the part of that gantry that Vader sliced through (after being slightly cut by Luke - ''Argh! Aaargh!'') should have some sparks coming from it after Vader goes on to 'attack' Luke.

By the way I don't normally advertise my YouTube videos - but here's my latest - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce07wUVsBHU

It's a music video re-edit of one of my first music videos that I made back in 2006. It includes clips from the masterpiece that is A New Hope: Revisited and also some taken from the TESB:R trailer :)

but luke took off vaders suit

I don't think that would make any difference at all. Obi Wan's robes were left on the Death Star, and likely was destroyed in the explosion. So by this logic, should Obi Wan not have access to his robes as a ghost?

This is sounding sillier and sillier to me suddenly... the whole debate on what a ghost gets to wear or not wear I mean! Or how old they appear, or how much hair they have... it gets to be a bit much.

But I have a question anyway: If Qui Gon is the original Jedi Force Ghost (OG: Original Ghost!), and thus taught Yoda and Obi Wan how to also become force ghosts, then why is Vader able to do the same, since he never learned this technique?

Related question: Why isn't Qui Gon not there with Anakin/Yoda/Obi Wan? Yeah, he doesn't know Luke, and Luke would only be confused if he saw a strange Jedi standing there, but he is still the only other Jedi (non-EU) to be able to do this.

Reminds me of this old mock up that has been on youtube for quite some time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aIZZyIgpco

(I did not make it)

Looking at this mock up, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch, since in the edit, Luke looks away before Qui Gon appears... perhaps it could be interpreted that he appeared to observe what he so strongly believed in: Seeing Anakin's success in balancing the force.

Ah, early morning ramblings... I get carried away, sorry folks!

Maybe the boy got it right in the first place:

Anakin : "No one can kill a Jedi."

Qui-Gon : "I wish that were so".

Perhaps in his raw untrained state he was more atuned to the true nature of the Force than he ever was as a Jedi or a Sith.

He is described in the prequels a some sort of mechansism for resetting the balance of the Force (thousands of Jedi and two Sith, two Sith and two Jedi, when one takes on an apprentice another Jedi is killed to correct the balance, when another dies he kills a Sith his roles seem to match even the rank of the Jedi/Sith involved Master for Master, Apprentice for Apprentice).

Where that leaves his children is wide open question but with his job done he can now take his place in Jedi Valhalla and turn up now and then for social calls.

I know this belongs more on the Radical Redux thread but with Qui-Gon being a bit of a herald of the chosen one in the linear TPM plan I dropped in over there it might make sense to have Qui-Gon gain the knowledge of Force Haunting from the same source of inspiration as where he got his intuitions about Anakin from.

Still, I think it would be cool to see Qui Gon make one final appearance in the final moments of ROTJ. It would be like he was really observing the entire saga all along, since he was killed.

That would indeed be quite a bookend to the saga :)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but maybe Ady may be able to find a victorious version of the Jedi/Force Theme and replace the one that was in the Special Edition and 2004 DVD (for the end victory celebration scene). It's probably wishful thinking though. I actually liked the revised music for that scene but something is lacking....

Btw - I have a new Music Video up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce07wUVsBHU

Anyway we'll just have to wait and see what happens with the end celebration scene and ghosts.

Well someone's done this for a morph - but it's obviously a rough edit, like a quick and simple dissolve without any fx -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNCHbuhFoIY&eurl

Though I like ur idea better :)

Just thought you'd like to know...that someone is me

It's actually the kind of thing I had in mind - the whole Hayden-Shaw morph and vice versa. Very good video btw, it's just that I found the Shaw pic with longer hair and the scar more appealing since it shows that Anakin is older, but could still be an older version of the guy we saw in the prequels. I gave you 5/5 on that video. :)

I have another suggestion - maybe we should have either a rebel x-wing explode with the pilots body floating off into space (ala TESB and ROTS) or even a TIE Pilot. It'd add to the excitement of the end space battle.

First off, let me say thank you.

Second, execpt for the scar, I like you idea of depicting Shaw as Anakin more closely to Hayden. If I may make a suggestion, I also came up with an idea of making Shaw's hair coloring almost match Hayden's. The logic is that Anakin is supposedly about 20-25 years younger than Obi-Wan.

Third, I also like the idea of pilots flying out of their exploded space fighters. Though, I won't be able to pull it off since I don't have After Effects. I do all my editing in Adobe Premeire Pro.

That sounds pretty cool about the hair colour - and Obi-Wan is 16 years older than Anakin :)

I'll try and do some still photoshop images of my own, and these ideas should hopefully help later on next year. I was also thinking that Coruscant should be updated slightly (in the end celebrations part) - to look a bit more grey/blue like in AOTC.
